Riyad Mahrez in Leicester's title winning season is the most impressed I've ever been with a player in the PL. Salah and Ronaldo may have had better numbers, but the way Mahrez made every defender in the league look like amateurs while playing for a team that was predicted to go down was just mesmerizing.
Great list as usual Alfie, I don't find putting Salah above Ronaldo all that controversial tbh. Salah's been pretty much dominating the PL ever since he joined Liverpool and he hasn't had an off season, he's kept playing at a ridiculous level for 5 straight seasons now. Every season, Salah has scored over 20 goals and this season he looks to reach the over 30-potentially 40 boundary. Whereas with Ronaldo you can argue that he only really starting playing his best/most effective football from the 2006/07 up until the 2008/09 season. Like if Ronaldo had stayed at United for longer, he probably would have nicked the top spot. Ultimately Ronaldo played at his absolute peak while at Real Madrid especially during the early-mid 2010's.
@@nicodiangelo7051 He's also a better Header of the ball. And can score from outside the box. Basically he was a Superior dribbler, free Kick taker, better in the air, could cross the ball when needed. Ronaldo was more complete
@@micahkiyimba8641 he was not a superior dribbler to Salah, Ronaldo has a very poor conversion rate of free kicks also. He’s also 6ft 2….Salah is 3ft3 of course Ronaldo will be a better header of the ball
Whenever I see Mahrez play I'm always amazed how his 'shimmies' are so fast and how he sits defenders down. Also, Ljungberg translates as 'heather mountain' in English. Actually, I thought he'd be left out, but him, Pires, Henry and Bergkamp were unreal together. His late runs into the box where amazing and he got some important goals to boot.
Beckham was always a CM but because his delivery was so good and the fact Scholes and Keane took the central roles, he was played on the right throughout his time at United.
This is very true. He has chances in midfield when the other players were injured or suspended - like the CL final - but I found him to be a very average midfielder (at the highest level, of course)
Very happy to see Macca in this list. Was worried after the 1st couple - as not many people seem to know who he is, let alone rate him - that you might not include him. My favourite player during the 90s. Unplayable on his day.
Brilliant list. Can't say I watched much of Macca since I'm only 20 but everything was quite spot on. No doubt Salah is the greatest RW this league has ever had.
Alfie Can you do a documentary on the afc Wimbledon on the nine promotions in eleven years, how they’re a fan own club and how they have a stadium in plough lane now. The story of they lost the club, how the F A allowed that and won’t allow that anymore. How they were very close to moving to ireland How they went up the English football leagues. It would be a good documentary video if you can do this. #thepeopleschannel
Day 1: Your girlfriend's/mum's/non-footie freind's/Irish guy's XI A few years ago there was a trend on Twitter where people asked their uninterested friends, partners, and family members to make an XI out of the players they know. My friend did that with his girlfriend and the eleven was all over the place and extremely fun. The interesting part was trying to actually justify why someone like Origi could work as a DM, which is what I want you to do.
So as a LFC fan, I sometimes forget how unbelievably brilliant Mo is. Yes, he's awesome, but try to find something, anything else to sound smart right?? Knock it off, if someone asks who's your favorite player say Andy Roberson. Then Mo Salah.
I play full back for my high school. So Andy Robertson IS my favorite player. After Salah, tho. It’s hard for him to not be be our favorite player when you look at amounts of goals and also how amazing his goals are. But besides Salah? My favs are Robbo, Trent, VVD, Thiago, Keita.
I honestly thought you'd include Ryan Giggs at top spot because my brain stopped working and I forgot about the existence of Salah. I was already preparing to comment how Giggs had NOTHING on Cristiano, but then I saw that your top spot belongs to Salah and - Chelsea fan or not - I must say this is bang on. Salah is absolutely sensational and I completely agree that he is the greatest Premier League RW of all time.
Even when Alfie offends me with his lists, his jokes and voice makes me forgive him. Either way the only player since Owen to win a Balon D’or in the prem is Ronaldo and I think people have a recency bias because Ronaldo was unplayable in those days but true Salah is the man now I guess it’s easier to pick him as number 1
Glad Marc Albrighton got an honourable mention! So underrated outside of Leicester fans. But he’ll always be loved by us and go down as a Leicester legend. :)
1st place was the most obvious out of any of these you’ve done, Salah is by far the best right winger to grace the prem, if he stays at liverpool for the rest of his career he could end up being the best player to ever play in the prem especially if he keeps putting in the numbers he does
imo, ronaldo is undisputedly the greatest winger of the prem and no one comes close to him. salah has better stats because he plays a lot more like a striker than actually a winger. he's kinda like how suarez was at liverpool more than any other winger that i've seen
@@simonhurst8960 Have to disagree. Think Lampard and especially Gerrard were a class above, ballon d'or rankings, team of the years, and England lineups from when they played seem to indicate that as well.
Ronaldo played as an out and out winger in a 442 system and still hit 42 goals in a season. Salah has always been a forward right in a 433 system to obviously devastating effect, but had Ronaldo played in a 433 then with more emphasis on scoring than assisting he would have done much more. Apples and Oranges
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The season ronnie got 42 goals he actually was in a front 3 with Rooney and tevez, more often then not Rooney and tevez were doing the dirty work while Ronnie stayed up top so I think u might wanna go back and look again
@@joehunt390 United didn't play 433 then. Ronaldo was always coming off the wing to join tevez and ronnie in attack. Him and Nani/Giggs had the wings. Facts
Sorry to be picky Alfie, but Ljungberg is pronounced "jungberg" with a rather silent "L". And it's not uncommon in Sweden to have your middle name before your actual name as well. The same goes for myself. Thank you for a great video (as always)!
Ronaldo was top 2 In Ballon D'or voting for 3 Successive years in 07, 08 and 09 at Utd. Salah is Not even a Right winger, he's an inside right forward..
didn't expect joe cole to appear here. I never saw him as that amazing of a player during his time at chelsea but I guess I was underrating him just like most people... don't let fans of other teams fool you btw, your placement of salah is very fair. imo he has been the best player in the world in 2 of the last 5 years. and I say that as a chelsea fan
I think picking players in positions they played the most games in, rather than picking them in positions they're most associated with is a bit flawed. Bale as a left winger and Ronaldo on the right doesn't seem fair to me... Even more so when that's gonna have impact on the best 11 that you are going to pick in an upcoming video.
Bale and Ronaldo are both picked on opposite sides of the wing. If CR7 was picked on the left based on where played more in his career he would be first but Bale if he’s picked on the right probably still wouldn’t be picked above Salah
Ahhh I don't really agree with Salah ahead of Ronaldo on this specific criteria, and I think recency bias might be on the plate here. Anyways, I understand where you come from, and even tho Salah on top is not smth I agree I can see your point. Keep the great work 💪
I'm Scottish and I love to see England get beat (because we don't win very often), but David Beckham's free-kick goal against Greece to qualify still gives me goosebumps. Absolute class under immense pressure. Scotland are getting better with players like McGinn , Armstrong, Adams, but typical Scotland our only 2 genuinely world class players Tierney and Robertson play the same position 😂
@@chideraozomgbachi2936 I wouldn't say Gilmour is world class yet, but he has alot of potential and is a great young player. Hopefully next season he goes out on loan to a bigger club or gets a run in the Chelsea first team, because he definitely has the potential.
it shouldnt be controversial placing Mo Salah over Cr7 as far as premier league goes. Salah´s numbers are far superior and its not even close. Cr7 has a greater status for his peak at Madrid and specially his Champions league numbers, which are uncomparable to anyone. But in Prem, Salah = King
I think Ronaldo's Madrid success has made many forget he is still the last England based player to win Ballon D'or and he won PFA player of the year twice and was also Ballon D'or Runner up in 07 too. Ronaldo 1st stint was cheatcode stuff
even ronaldo 2007/08 is better than prime salah. Football is more than goals/numbers and that ronaldo had everything not to mention that he achieved more in that season alone than salah in his whole career.
VIdeo Idea: Greatest player who SHOULD have played in the PL. There are players who seem to fit perfectly into the league but never played. Hulk for example. Would love to see this kind of Video.
By numbers I'll also put salah above RONALDO , but who was better .. I'll put Ronaldo above salah .. Ronaldo did it when he wasn't even in his prime .. that's crazy ..and I've seen both of them .. RONALDO was completely beast
That's why it is mentioned as the best right wingers in the Premier League era. Players who have played their EPL games at RW the most. Also because Cr7 played many matches as a teenager while Salah played at his peak mostly.
If u watch Young CR7 and peak Salah's best moments it wouldn't be a question that Ronaldo was by far a better player but Salah has stayed consistent over a long time.
@@mandem2362 young Cr7 was one of the most eye catching and the flashiest player ever. The best imo but he wasn't the most productive and effective by a long way, not even top 50. Young Cr7 can't be regarded as better than Salah, entertaining maybe.
Sorry mate I think you’re well off here. Ronaldo 06-09 was simply unplayable at Man United easily the best right winger the premier league has ever seen even winning a ballon do’r. I don’t think it’s fair to use Ronaldo’s success at Real Madrid as a disadvantage to his premier league career
Salah has nearly 0.9 goal contributions per game that he played, 160 in 182 appearances. Ronaldo is with 130 in 219 at around 0.6. Ronaldo has „only“ had 2 seasons so far with 20+ goal contributions in the prem, Salah 5 (!). Has Ronaldo been a better player over his career and at his peak? Yes. But in the premier league alone? I dont think so.
You clearly don't understand the facts, in the premier league Salah has been better than Ronaldo has been in the premier league, outside of the premier league there is no comparison, obviously Ronaldo would then be much greater, but in the premier league Salah easily takes top spot here
@PERFECT GAMING lad I've explained it before, I lived Ronaldo for us back in the day, as a Man utd fan I can say he was incredible but Salah in the epl is just clear
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 283) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
Kevin Mirallas had a better league goal to game ratio than Nani and Willian (in a much worse team). Not saying he should be on this list but he was underrated, and Martinez the fraud benched him for Cleverley.
If there are people in the comments section calling this list controversial those people skipped around just to see the rankings without taking the time to listen to the reasoning.
I don’t think people understand the hype around Joe Cole when he was a kid. I think he signed professional forms on the pitch before a first team match at Upton Park. Imagine that! Touted as the saviour as a 15 or 16 year old.
Peak Ronaldo is more dangerous peak mo Salah. The difference is that Salah is playing in the premier league while in his prime but Ronaldo played while he was approaching his prime.
@@DiamondDM13 wtf r u on about. He didn't win a golden boot or a trophy. He didn't do anything special till September when entered ridiculous form. If everytime a player entered crazy form we gave them a ballon'dor, KDB, Hazard and Sanchez would've won it too. The likes of Lewandowski, Benzema, Ronaldo, Kante, Kane and Messi had better 2021s overall. He wasn't even the best RW in the world, that goes to Chiesa.
saying that with a manchester utd profile pic isn't too convincing.... but that's false. No matter which club Salah plays for, even though Klopp developed him into who he is today, he still performs at a level of consistency and excellence which has never been seen before from a wide player in a top league in Europe Liverpool would certainly be worse without Klopp's high pressing system, but the recruitment he's done to create a tight knit, unified football team is incredible, and would work well under any manager I'm not discrediting Klopp here, but to me it'll be like taking pep away from city. They'll still be good, but not great And before you ask, yes I am a Liverpool fan
@@testertlc4905 he’s right Salah under any other coach would be a 19 goal a season winger Klopp is kinda using him as the main striker and winger with more chances for him So let’s just say him and klopp are made for eachother
@@testertlc4905 "Level of consistency and excellence which has never been seen before from a wide player" Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robben, Ribery, Di maria...... played tennis
@@christianopulinaldo8319 I'd argue Ronaldo was a central player, even at his Man utd days and his prime, and ronaldinho was never as consistent as salah the only one who i'd say was definitively better was messi, maybe robbery (ribery and and robben) though thats a bit cutting it and you could argue di maria never hit a peak like salah's
