Have you ever built an amazing landing page, drove targeted traffic to it, and then found that everything you're doing, you're just not getting any conversion? It sucks. You've put in all this time. You've put in all these resources. You just can't get sales for the life of you. Today I'm going to share seven landing page flaws that'll kill your conversions.

The first flaw is load time, and you've probably heard this before.
Speed matters.
The second flaw is generic landing pages.
And no, I don't mean a generic landing page in which a landing page is selling all your services, or all your products. Yeah sure you already know that you need to get specific and only sell one product or one service.
But here's what I mean by generic landing pages. Even if your selling one product or one service keep in mind, every single traffic source is different.
By adapting your landing page to the traffic source you'll find that you use conversions a lot more. And the way that you do this is: put your mind inside the traffic source.
When you're on Google you're doing a search. You're looking for solutions to your problem. You're problem is typically whatever keyword you typed in on the search box. On Facebook, you're browsing and looking at pictures of your friends.
The third flaw is: Distractions.
We're in a world where there's a lot of ADD, we have attention spans of less than a goldfish, which you guys already know now.
By being very specific with where you're focusing a users attention, you're going to be better off.
And this is important because a lot of people are also starting to do things like on their site, doing chat, they're also doing popups, they're also doing quizzes, so they have a landing page with all these things.
The fourth flaw is a visual disconnect.
If you have an ad that's promising something, and you don't deliver on that promise in the landing page, its not going to work.
The simplest example of this flaw is someone doing a Google search. If someone typed in 'Apple MacBook' and hypothetically you were bidding on that term and they went to your landing page, but you didn't have the term 'Apple MacBook' on there, or you didn't have a picture of an Apple MacBook, what do you think is going to happen?
You conversions are going to tank.
The fifth one, is a bad mobile experience.
Did you know that the majority of searches on Google now happen on over mobile phone?
That's right, they're not happening from the laptop, they're not happening from a tablet, they're happening from a mobile device. That thing that's in your pocket 24/7.
It's on you more than your laptop or a desktop computer is, hence, the more people use it for search.
The sixth flaw, is not addressing buyer concerns.
There could be, 'Hey what if I don't like this product or service, is there a money back guarantee? Is there a free trial?'
Assuming this is a software as a service company. 'What do other people think about this product? Do you have reviews on those pages? How does a product or service look? Do you have video testimonials or case studies?'
All these things are objections and concerns, if you can answer them within your landing page, you're more likely to convert.
If you don't answer someones’ objections and concerns, what do you think is going to happen? They're going to bounce away, they're not going to convert.
If you're not sure what people's objections are, you can always use survey tools, like HotJar or SurveyMonkey, to figure out what people's objections are or concerns are, and you can address them within your content.
Last but not least, number 7, you're making the landing page too complicated.
What I mean by that is, I'm not talking about length, I'm not talking about, oh, do you have too many images or videos, I'm talking about the process.
If you're a lead form, do you have 50 form fields? Well if you have 50 form fields, you're going to lose most people.

1% I keep changing it and getting traffic seems really easy (solo ads). But for some reason the conversion rate keeps dropping. I got 4 visitors and 25% conversion rate but then after a while I got 173 visitors and only 1% conversion rate. Any idea why this would happen?

@@amtulbaseer4760 I recommend looking at landing pages that other successful people in your niche are using and take notes. Look at why those pages have high conversion rate. Recreate it and keep it really simple. I hope this helps.

Great stuff Neil! Do you offer a service that evaluates current landing pages? I am consistently getting 5%-10% CTR from my AdWords, but conversions (phone call) are terrible. I'm thinking that the problem must be my landing pages.

Last optimization I did for my Italian client was 'remove textarea form and replace it with 4 multiple choices' = conversion moved from 2 leads/month to 20 leads/month with the same traffic volume.

You can email surveys out to your email list, and post it into your social accounts :) Also, you can email out surveys after people purchase your product/service

Can you do more videos on paid ads? I have an awesome landing page that follows all your tips in this video. I am driving traffic from Facebook ads and I am looking at sessions recordings of CRAZY EGG. People are coming to my landing page and sitting there for 2 minutes WITHOUT SCROLLING. Then they scroll by just a bit and recording ends. This is happening only on mobile. Heck a person clicked my ad and stayed there in my landing page for an hour without scroll or reading anything. I am only targeting people that have WIFI, but do they click my ad and talk to their friends on a bus or what? I am so startled. Should I stop targeting mobile users? Can you help Neil? Video suggestion: What to do for those that have red pixel on their conversion event on Facebook. If we move up the funnel and optimise for landing page views then won't they only get clickers that just watch the landing page and don't take any action, like in my case? This cycle will continue and the purchase pixel will never turn green. HELP

Hi Niel, I want some guidance on what to do when Ad fatigue happens on Facebook. I have been working for a dentist, we were running an offer on Facebook to local audiences which gave us good conversion rates and low cost per leads. But after running ads for the past 10 months the cost per lead is rising sky high. I have tried changing the offer, ad creatives and loads of different audiences but still, the CPL is high. Can you please suggest something to make things better. Thanks in advance :)

By increasing your open rate and CTR. You can do this by improving the copy of the emails, improving the subject lines, etc.

It just depends on your marketing campaign! In some cases a landing page would be helpful.

Q1.) I created a landing page with 6 sections for a ecommerce product(section1:image & gif, section2: 3 image-based reviews, section3: features with benefits , section4: 7 text-based reviews, section5 : special bundle offer - 3 pricing offers , section6: FAQ - 9 questions and answers) . I did Google Search Ads with exact buyer intent keywords (there are search volume ) - exp: buyer intent kwd+ecommerce product and there are potential prospects to click the ads but no conversion. I thought since there are many different attributes of this product, i tried to find the buyer intent keyword with specific attribute product keyword . unfortunately i can't find it. I'm not sure maybe there is no much choice for prospect...i plan to create list of top 5 of these same kind of products with different attributes and drive traffic to this page...from neil patel mentioned that it is not good choice for general landing page. Q2.) Is there available neil patel online course?
