He seems like the valentino rossi of golf to me, you know he's got it in him to win it but it doesnt matter where he comes, its the watching him play thats fun.
He does go for shots no pro would, agreed. But he definitely is inconsistent. If he was more consistent he would definitely be one of the BEST golfers in history
Truth I am talking about goat status not best golfers. There is a difference. Like Lebron James is the goat but steph curry is one of the best players, you get it?
Phil is like a lovable mad scientist. He's gonna try some shit, and sometimes it'll work, and sometimes it won't, but either way you can't help but root for him.
The last clip is my favorite because it was so ridiculous. You know the announcer was instructed to name the events the people have won when they're on the tee, which sounds like a nice idea for 90% of golfers, except when it's Tiger who comes up there you'll be standing there for 15 minutes to get through the whole list lol.
Unfortunately, there's no video of my favorite... it was identical to the one they showed here where Phil hits it backwards. In this video, which I'm pretty sure was the tournament in Colorado that used the Modified Stableford Scoring, Phil didn't get back on the green. But there was a shot, in a real event where Phil nearly holed the same shot, going backwards on a off-canter lie. I've seen film of it but not in the past 20 years so I don't think the Tour or Networks have it.
That's what I admire most about him, and what a non golfer would have no clue about....the ability to keep that smile on his face and that happy demeanor through a round, win or lose, in a game that will frustrate the living sh8t out of even the best, even on a good day. You can't fake that. No amount of prize or endorsement money will buy that for you. It's character and it's class. Not to mention the way he interacts with galleries during and after a round or if you meet him off the course.
Ever get the feeling he is secretly happy when his ball ends up in a seemingly impossible lie? I really think he looks forward to the challenges of these types of shots.
@@Penguin_of_Death Thank God you corrected me. Should have used than but it's an easy mistake to make. I give you too cookies. Oops.. I mean two cookies. 🙂
@@overnightdelivery as a non native speaker I genuinely do not understand how people make that mistake. Then and than do not sound the same. Weird i guess
Don't give a s**t what other people think. Phil is the man. He makes watching golf so much fun and he is a great person. Go Phil. Phil has some kind of alien gene.
The funny thing is that he just started training his body for the first time. Imagine if he did it when he were young age bro he would have had more wins than tiger
Growing up around my dad falling asleep on the couch with PGA on the TV on Sundays, Phil is what inspired me to have fun with golf. Love Phil, love the creativity, love short game.
The back-to-back hospitality deck shots is peak Phil Mickelson. The fact he was able to put BACKSPIN off the carpet is crazy. (Two other crazy moments not in this: In the 2003 Masters he took an unplayable on #2, used driver from way off the fairway, somehow hit the green and made a birdie putt across the entire green. And I don't remember which game it was, but he chipped in during a hailstorm, when everyone else was running for cover.)
the uploader did a great job of showing some huge successes and some huge failures because that's an accurate portrayal of his success rate with crazy shots, imo
@0Leadmeister0Listen, Phil called his shot and the reporter did him dirty. If he shatters his legacy to make the PGA better, so be it. I think at the end of the day what Phil will do for his fellow players will impact the players and the game positively because it needed to change.
I had the honor of meeting Phil Mickelson in 2004 at the Ryder Cup in Bloomfield, MI. He's a true gentleman and gracious to his fans. He's an all-around, good natured guy. He's everything you'd hope he to be. He's the real deal. I just wish that I could go back in time and NOT wear his autographed hat.
I love it. I love that he always goes for the crazy shot. It’s just more fun. He doesn’t care if he doesn’t pull it off. He just moves on to the next crazy shot.
I'm sure he cares if he pulls it off. He's playing in tournaments that he wants to win. It's just that hes gotten so good at the crazy shots that hes more often better going for it than taking a drop and losing a stroke.
Ha, he's either a genius or an idiot. Or, more accurately, he's an undeniable genius who occasionally does idiotic things. Either way he's my favourite golfer, and I still hold out hope he'll win the US Open this year. That'd be a story to rival Tiger's, for sure.
As much as I love Phil, Tiger was having a hard time even walking and performing daily activities without experiencing pain. Combined with a back fusion and having to rebuild his game. I’m sorry, but I’m not sure there is going to be any story in sports that is capable of matching what Tiger did at the Masters.
@@HypeWrecks Honestly, I agree. Objectively speaking, it's tough to imagine what could match Tiger's achievement. But to a long time fan of Phil like me, if he could get the career grand slam I'd consider that worthy of mentioning in the same sentence, at least.
@@HypeWrecks While I agree, Phil's had SIX runner-up finishes in the US Open. SIX. It's the one tournament that's eluded him and he himself has stated winning the US Open would make his career feel complete.
DodderingOldMan Phil doesn’t get enough respect as EASILY a top 5 player of all time. If he played in any other generation of golf, he would have won double the tournaments. Instead, he played behind the most dominant golfer, and possibly sportsman of all time. Edit: Maybe top 5 is a little hyperbolic, he’s top 10 for sure, though.
This why Phil is my favorite player. He is not afraid of any shot. His shot out of the pine needles at the 13 th hole , AUGUSTA, 2010 MASTERS. One of the all time great shots.
God, I love Phil! Always have, always will. The shortest amount of time in unrecorded history is the time I saw the title of this video, and the time I clicked.
"Let's take a look at this shot. What happened? Just men in black uniforms grabbing a fifty five-year-old uh you know woman just choking ah you're gonna learn who we are you're gonna learn to submit the foreign bankers have given us unlimited power and we're gonna rule you this is our country your here and WE'RE GONNA FEED ON YOUR ASS!, AND THE COPS JUST DRINK FLUORIDE WATER, AHHH THEY TAKE THEIR KIDS AND JUST SHOOT 'EM UP WITH MERCURY and the kids become autistic the cops don't care they're I'm GOING TO THE TIT BAR I don't care if my kids brain-damaged they drink whiskey and wreck and kill everybody in Austin and then when they wreck and kill themselves the cops then go and SWAT team the bar owners that sold them too much whiskey it's your fault you sold too much whiskey to a god. YOU DON'T SELL TOO MUCH WHISKEY TO A GOD! We're God! You understand we roll America; we'll shoot you in the face, we'll bloody your face, and we'll laugh about it because we're weak gang members!"
@@GusLascola Hi Gus. FYI, here's my video regarding golf in Arctic Russia. Not the same caliber as Phil Mickelson, but it's golf! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uYsY-yhpYhw.html
I really liked that "oh it is" I don't watch much golf but I do enjoy it and him interacting with a fan like that was nice. Also it was an amazing shot.
I thought golf was a noun, not a verb! Have you ever heard anyone use the terms: He footballs! He baseballs! No......they play football or baseball! Golfers play golf!
My younger brother does the same thing. He writes right handed and hits baseballs and golf balls left handed. It used to really throw people off when he would pitch right handed, then turn around and bat lefty.
What a master. He had a near impossible shot, maybe at Torrey, where he was behind a tree, the green was a dog leg right, and Phil went for it. Purposely sliced it around the tree onto the green. Crazy.
Adam Boyle Everyone hits the fairway. But not everyone has some crazy ass miracle like every round. Lol. It’s more fun that way. Builds the suspense. Lol
