I have had success with used engine oil. Hasn't faded in 12 months. Apply conservatively, may take 2 coats with a day between. Won't need more than a jam jars worth, work it in, wipe of excess as you go to keep it even. Warning heat guns risk depleting the natural oils in the plastic making it brittle. Thanks as always :)

I used a Wurth product called Plastic Dyer Plast PT on my vans faded bumpers, they had turned grey. Seven years and about 50000 miles later they where still black; in my experience this is great stuff.

I made a 50-50 mix of boiled linseed oil and white spirit and applied it today. having been thinned, it was probably just as easy to apply as your G4 liquid. I wiped any excess liquid off with a clean cloth after application. It looks good, and I hope it lasts.

This is brilliant - thank you! I’ve been looking around for something to spruce up the very grey and tatty bumpers of my van. After watching this I tried Linseed Oil and the result is great. Thanks so much.

The heat gun is the best solution of course as it brings out the oil just like when it was out from the mold, but you must accept that the plastic will be a little bit shrunk by the heat.

My detailer friend recommended more heat as heat gun didn’t do too much to mine. He said try a blowtorch (sounds extreme) but doing it lightly it worked quite well. Still early days (2-3 weeks)

Have tried the cherry blossom, didn’t last more than two months. Have also tried Meguiar’s tire shine but that didn’t last more than three months. I have just applied Owatrol colour renovator which I saw on another channel, will let you know how this goes.

When you say expensive you need to also consider what your time and labor is worth, the heat gun method took me a couple hours to complete but it only looked good for a few months before it completely faded in the hot Florida sun, I'd rather spend $20-$30 for a quicker and longer lasting solution

Agreed, for me the Linseed Oil, mixed 50:50 with white spirits is by far the best value / effort - costs next to nothing, easy to apply, looks great and lasts.

Maybe a good combination would be the heat gun followed by a coat of the Gtechinq. Personally I’ve only ever used Armoural.

And how is the situation today, after another 11 months? In particular interested how the heat gun method is doing. I see a lot of comments about heat guns or butane torches ruins the plastic, making it brittle, but wonder if that is just parroting or a real thing to worry about.

Forever black was absolutely abysmal for me. Cleaned my bumpers to death, and the dye would randomly peel. Looks awful too when it does as it's inconsistent. Spent more time touching up, in the end I gave up and taken the lot off which was a chore.

To be honest - the Linseed Oil (mixed 50:50 with white spirit to make application easier) has been so good I have not tried anything else.

You might need to use some on this video - it's a bit pale/washed-out looking 😂
