When I win Powerball, I am buying a MONSTER-SIZED 5-AXIS CNC Machine and some 3D metal powder deposition printers and will be MAKING my own F22 Raptor out of Aerospace-Grade 8000 series Aluminum and then coating it with Line-X Truck Bed liner inside AND out to give it a "Cheap Version" of a RAM (Radar Absorbent Material) stealth coating. A 10mm thick Line-X truck bed liner coating in ALL interior and exterior surfaces has about 98% of the Stealth Rating of the F22 for MILLIONS of dollars cheaper! And UNLIKE the F22's coating, the Line-X coating is MUCH TOUGHER and can take all the temperature and pressure extremes of flight and is FULLY rainproof, snowproof and iceproof! The twin engines I will CNC machine WITH thrust vector vector nozzles which I will machine out of ceramic coated aerospace-grade Titanium! It will WAAAAAAAAY outperform the current all-composite-fibre USAF F22 since I have my own super-cruise capable turbojet engine designs that can do 70,000 lbs of Thrust each! I will be able to do full supersonic supercruise the same way as the F22 fighter but for a LONGER range and at higher altitudes! I can even EMULATE the entire glass cockpit and headmount helmet system of the F22 fighter but updated to F35 situational-awareness standards with my realtime Secure Linux GIS/Mapping/Tracking glass-cockpit software which runs on a ruggedize IP69/Milspec 810g AMD Dual EPYC cpu motherboard! I can turn the internal missile bay munitions compartment into my extra luggage bay/cargo hold AND have it hold a removable 5-passenger reclined-seating capsule! What normally costs 220 MILLION DOLLARS, I can do for less than three million dollars once I buy the CNC machines and 3D printers! V

You missed half of the Mig 25 over the Desert story. That plane was pushed way past its limit. The engines were totally destroyed and it had structural damage-from the pilot showing off and disobeying orders. The Egyptian pilot was severely punished. We all know what that means. The 25 still owns some climb records that the 31 hasn't matched, although the 31 obliterated the 25's speed records. Two Mig 31"s eyeballed an American SR-71-it's that fast. But one misleading thing in this video. Yes you can buy these planes. But you can't purchase the missles-that's NOT allowed.

@@geddon436 the pilot had the engines running wide open for way past the limit. The Egyptian pilot wasn't supposed to be flying that close to Israeli territory. The Russians wanted their secret kept under wraps. When this flight occurred, Westerners wet their pants over the speed. The Israelis clocked it around mock 3 and Westerners thought it had more. They thought it was a fighter plane. Only later, when Bilenko flew one to Japan, was the truth revealed. The 25's engines are great and up to snuff-provided they aren't abused like the moron did showing off. The 31 has upgraded power plants and such, but the Mig 25 will never die!

I never worked on the F-111, but we had several in our test squadron at Eglin back in the 70s. We had a nickname for them, FRED. F__king Ridiculous Economic Disaster. Jimmy, I love how you say "swallow" at ~2:50 during the Me 262 part. I rode in a C-130 one time in 1991. On the way to Europe for the Gulf War. We rode in a C-5, an incredibly smooth flying airplane, from Dover, Delaware to Lakenheath, England. With a meal and and a complimentary sedative for the trip over the "drink". The only airplane I've ridden in where I could not tell when we actually landed. I heard the power reduced, flap motors several times, gear down...and then we were taxiing. No windows to see outside. It was raining anyways. Next, we took a C-130 to Frankfurt, Germany. The C-130 is, without a doubt, the loudest airplane I've ever flown in. By orders of magnitude. Impossible to tolerate without ear plugs. Seriously. I love the way you describe the C-130 as just a larger version of your Cherokee 6.

I also deployed with 26 other USAF Security Policemen from Eaker AFB Arkansas to Moron AB Spain, & returned a week later, on KC-135s during a "Operation Desert Shield". My uncle joined the usaf after ocs in the late 80's with the intent of flying the f16. No slots were available at the time so after t38 training he went to f15 for 6yrs then moved to one of the first 777's for United airlines and still drools over f16's. I asked how could you go from fighters to passenger planes. He says $$$$. I say keep it, I'll take the f15.

For the F-16 I think you also have to be a former fighter pilot to fly one of these in US airspace I don't know if a civilian with no military experience on the jet could get the clearance . There is a good youtube doc about a US guy who bought a Harrier from the UK, he had as lot of trouble getting the paper work to fly it but he justified it as the purpose was to use it in airshows. He was a former military test pilot with 100's of hours if not 1000's on the Harrier so the authorities let him fly it in the end. But he had to strip out all the fun stuff like radar and any weapons capability. Even then there were constant checks on him and he was told one minor digression from regulations and they would ground the jet. Its not just the maintenance costs, getting clearance to fly a " Hot Jet" their words, is not easy, the authorities are well aware of the capability of an F16 they are not going to give clearance to anyone to fly it in civilian airspace.

My dad, who is about to turn 100 years old, was a combat engineer in World War II. His battalion was at the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen when a lone Me-262 appeared. The Germans had been desperately trying to destroy the bridge and the US Army had emplaced an incredible number of anti- aircraft guns all around the town. Dad was with a couple of other officers when the world erupted in cannon fire. They ducked into the basement of a nearby storefront. After the Messerschmitt made its bombing run and left the area (missed the bridge), Dad and his companions came outside to find the streets knee-deep in shell casings. He went on to become an aviator and serve in Korea and Vietnam flying every type the Army had but his favorite was the Huey. I’ll take the T-38 please.

Bone yarded some F111s while working at Tinker AFB In Midwest city Oklahoma. Wasn't impressed by them over all. C-130 I Jumped out of in training at Ft Brag NC in 1974. Scared the stuff out of me that first time. After that! I was like a kid yelling "can I do it again"! Just a heads up, you need to check your myth on the climb rate of the mig-31. If it climbed for 4 minutes at 115,000 fpm it would be well over 400,000 feet, and if I'm not mistaken there's no air for the engines at even half that!😉 just saying

Just FYI a regular civilian can't buy an F-16. They are for sale, but each sale needs to follow ITARs and be specifically approved by the US Dept of State, which is basically impossible, and takes years at best. The only civilians flying F-16s are defence contractors working for the US govt, and it took 7 years and a USAF contract to get that approved.

I'm surprised that the Fouga CM.170 Magister didn't make your lists. I think it's one of the most beautiful jets ever made. There's an air show one in the area here (upstate NY) that is finished in raw polished aluminum. It's looks so 1950's retrofuturistic when it's unpainted, and I love that and it's V-Tail. It's hardly a fighter, definitely a trainer but still an awesome aircraft to see in private ownership.

All Pratts have small mouth intakes. Early block 30s had a small mouth with a GE but all other GEs have the large mouths. Exhaust nozzles are different too. Pratts are longer & straight while GEs are shorter & have slightly rounded turkey feathers. Pratts are easier to work on in the jet but GEs are more reliable & rugged.

Phased array radar basically means that you no longer have an antenna that you need to turn mechanically to scan the area; it directs the beam electronically. This allows you to have less maintenance, but it also turns wherever needed in split second since there is no need for it to actually and literally turn that way.
