I would say, that springer shotguns are really useful. Most of them are cheap but reliable, also short and handy, so they work well to clear in cqb when you really need it
It is my opinion that every serious airsofter should bring at least one tri shot shotgun to every event they attend. Always work if you or your team mate's gun goes down, and if it breaks/gets lost you're only out 60 ish bucks. Performes fine, and I've stacked bodies at cqb and field games with one. Can't be beat for cost effectiveness.
My first Airsoft gun was a AK-74u from gameface. When in long range engagement, I leave it to people with better guns, but in CQB this thing is a beast!
Yea my Ak is one of the very few airsoft guns I have, since I’ve been getting into armored swordplay, but every once in a while when I do airsoft games I always go for the gun.
The Ol' Reliable is definitely warranted to be on this list. My Ol Reliable was a H&K UMP45 and it just wouldnt quit until this year. 7 Years of games every other weekend, putting thousands of rounds through it, and it finally gave up. Gave it a final farewell because it was basically a comrade at that point.
Regarding the LMGs, I scare all the other players at the local games with my HPA MG36 GBBR. Sticking an amplifier or opened suppressor on it, the sound echoes I'm the woods.
When I’m feeling froggy I bust out my M249 with a box mag equipped with a M203 with taggin rounds. It’s definitely a game changer. Built it specifically to turn heads. It’s fun.
I run a cyma full metal pistol grip trishot with a primary airsoft m4 mag adaptor. It fires a super tight grouping at long range. Shoots just under a fully charge gas shotgun. And it’s the easiest platform to use against people that don’t like to call the hits. They are far more eager to call the hit when 3 bbs hit within an inch of each other. Honestly all springers are the most useful platforms. They never run out of battery. They never run out of gas They shoot incredibly predictable
For the days I feel like a complete masochist, I have my heavy, but fun ICS L86A2. It nearly feel fowl of a new rule at my local field trying to define support weapons with a minimum length. It worked out in the end. As for pistols, I've settled on the ASG CZ P-09, I seem to go for different things, though a G-series is going to be had eventually.
I love the weird and wacky. Personally I run Classic CYMA mp5 No optics John McLane style or the fabled THE TOMORROW WAR rifle, by Hera arms ICS SSS, mocked up to look just that rifle. and my sidearm of choice my B92.
Putting a minimum length on support guns makes sense. Since it's airsoft, you can technically turn anything into an MG including some toy-plastic featherweight AEG, with just 9 inches of barrel, by loading it with a high-cap and there wouldn't be too much of a difference, only that one is possibly very slightly more accurate in no-wind conditions while the other is way lighter and easier to handle. You need imposed limitations on that front, same reason why the imposed limitation of letting only some use full-auto in that ruleset.
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 I see, true I've seen people running SBRs as lmgs. I guess as a general rule is just have their real life counter part as an example. That's what we did where I live, bring your gun and if the real model is/qualifies as lmg, dmr, smg, etc. then such rules apply
My ol' reliable is, strangely, a cyma tri-shot spring shotgun. It just works. May not be the most practical but, if I need a gun that I know won't fail me, thats the one I grab. I recently upgraded to a G&G CM16, however, and I am absolutely loving it.
My current collection includes 2 CYMAs, both best desricbed as "ol' reliable". I have a COLT M4 CQB with several attachments that I use more often nowadays, but my close to 10-year-old CYMA Kalashnikov tactical, the stock and foregrip of which have long since gone missing, still fires like new. It's been dropped, stepped on, knocked around, gathered dust for about 5-7 years, and yet when I had it checked by a field near me with a full-time tech, still ran like the day I bought it.
15:06 A thing to note here is that the featherweight M249s have regular V2 gearboxes which don't do well under support fire stress. They're therefore only good as a lightweight base for HPA conversion or if you're gonna put a high quality CNC gb shell in it, but those are a little costly options for a plastic gun.
Oh boy…my ol’ reliable. In my 15 years of playing now, that title can only be given to one singular gun within my 43 gun collection: My tried and true CYMA Full metal M870 tri-shot. That gun has been with me for 10 years now, and ever since then it’s come with me to every single event/game I’ve ever played since then. Pickup games, Milsim, CQB tournaments, role-play events, every single REV event I’ve attended, literally everything I’ve attended since I’ve owned it it’s been with me and has been used. Never once broke or failed, and still shoots as good as the day I got it despite the absolutely countless amounts of rounds through it. It’s always the gun I suggest to players as a backup for their main weapon system, as they just refuse to die, and perform well enough to hang with the big dogs. Side note: The helmet video would be cool! I have a nice ODST helmet setup I’d love to submit!
My "old reliable" is my Raven Honey Badger. It only has a red dot sight and I've used it at almost every weekend event, but the reason it's what I call "old reliable" is because of how many times it's banged into something, dropped, it overheated, etc. it still manages to work and sling BBs pretty far.
I run a $1500 dmr build that I bought and built myself. With that I've hit a few shots that had me questioning weather or not I had hacks. Super effective rifle
Relatively newer player here but I can't forget my specna edge m4. This thing has never had single issue apart from losing a pin for the mag release over the two years I've owned it
Many have forgotten the sig 556 aeg. That was the rifle my dad let me use to get into airsoft until I bought my mk18. The sig was a beast and I bring it out for some events.
For me, my ‘Ol Reliable would have to be my GC16 Predator! Ive had it for so long now that I cant remember exactly how long its been since I bought mine. I know that bone stock it lasted for 5 years before the compression started to wear out and I was forced to put upgrades into it. Still to this day, G&G Combat Machines are what I always recommend to new players getting into the sport for their reliability and being as affordable as they are. You can do so much with them while not doing anything at the same time.
Underfolder AKM (AKMS), built well, simple to use, no bs attachments, classic, very compact thus easy to use in vehicles. It’s my favorite, sidefolders stick out too much and can get caught on gear and random stuff, also feels awkward when slung.
I run the GameFace Elite Renegade. It is a springer, but you can get a surprisingly good rate of fire out of it (high for a springer), it hits hard, and it is very affordable, coming in at $45, and you get a lot more than what you payed for.
My ol' reliable is a Famas by Cybergun. I've only used an 11.1 in it forever and the only thing it ever had problems with is bbs getting stuck in the receiver and blocking the trigger linkage. I bring it to every game.
My ol reliable is actually an old $100 Cybergun Colt CQB m4 I got on Amazon 5 years ago, the only thing I have upgraded is the hopup chamber and bucking, all other internals are stock and that thing still stacks bodies
Loving your channel been thinking about using airsoft as a hobby while home with my 2 boys that are both 14 these are very informative and still questioning what to get as starter weapons for all 3 of us we are all CoD players too
Loved it! I am about to use my first LMG in its first game this weekend. It’s an M60. Also, I thoroughly agree about semi auto DMRs being better than bolt action.
I own the TM HK MK23, and I would like to say: I don’t think the MK23/any NBB pistol is either overrated or underrated. More, like: “chef’s kiss/just right.” In the right hands, it’s devastating. However, because of it’s “rarity/difficult to acquire” I kind of want to preserve it for as long as I can and not use it at all/anymore. I’d rather buy the Novritsch SSX23 and wear it out.
I remember as a pre teen I use to be into airsoft guns for a bit, I never knew there were full actual games for them, I honestly wound not mid picking it back up if there were games near my area.
My first gun was a Firehawk HC and man, I love it! I run it to this day bc in CQB it's a monster. Later i bought another M4, the Ares Amoeba 013 and it does it's job. For sidearms I run a Highcapa by AW Customs and sometimes a AEG USP that just doesn't die, it's been true hell, twice.
My old reliable gun is a crosman pulse r76. It is basically the same as the gameface 76. A fantastic Ak74 that I have used for over 15 years! I wouldn’t trade it for anything and I even used it last weekend. Love that gun!
I have an ICS sig 552 as my old reliable. Got it brand new years ago and I've since acquired 3 other ICS sigs and a G&G 550 but that original 552 commando has never failed me
I totally agree on using a SBR CQBR for anything urban or having at least 2 members of your squad with them. I live by my M4A3 "Commando" length with a silencer I built (105mm), it's still VERY short for CQB urban ops and the functional silencer extends range and velocity for longer 150 to 180ft shots. Mine is built up just like the Colt M4's we used in the USAF 27th Spl Ops Wing, we're better than SEALs.
On number 5, I’ve never had a single gun last as long as my WE 1911 Wilson Combat. 15 years of dedicated use and abuse. Almost every other weapon busted within a year
My good ole' reliable is the Umarex/Elite Force UMP45 EBB. Held up for 3 years and still going and has a snappy trigger response. Been running 11.1v in them but haven't had a single issue despite countless games. Never actually had an M4
Man. I own 1 of each of the top three. I have an M14 that has had a lot of work done on it. Heck, you even held it a long time (D14 during a thunderstorm). A ML-36 for my M16A4. And finally my Classic Army M249P with a Polarstar Jack. None of these are light. They are all heavy and bulky, but I love them dearly.
Man, I ran my LCT LC3 for the first time the other weekend, and I fully concur with your opinions on the DMR. One of the best days I've had on the field, kill-wise.
Those Tommy guns are legendary for sure, I love when you see some long time players having to use them at their local fields because their main replicas went down
@@USAirsoft I know. I was testing my new EMG m4 and something broke. youd thinking my first thought would be "oh s&#@" but I was like "meh, I got ol reliable"
My old reliable is also my squads dmr. I believe it is a A&K m16a4 that I bought used for a hundred dollars. All I have done to it is took the fuse out. 6.03 mm inner barrel with g&g green hop up bucking. I still qualify as a riflemen even though I outrange most of the snipers at my field. The only thing wrong with it is that it is a full auto since the disconnect is worn on it.but iris snappy enough with 7.4 volt that I can get single shots off. My 7.4 volt battery has 5000 mah of capacity so I never have to worry about it will on the field for a hole day. I did make the m16a4 look like an a 1 so I could use it in Vietnam field days.
Ol reliable gf 76 ak krinkov 74u style. Gameface 76 aeg 375fps flooding stock for cqb and stock for further engagements it’s like an ar smg for maximum $200 if they taxing. Usually it’s around $120. Works amazing.
6:45 I have a stock, full black snow wolf AUG A1 AEG I bought off my local shop, got it like 5 years ago Scope isn’t shattered, runs 9.6s like a dream, only replaced the fuse once and I think the only feeding issue I’ve had is when I dropped my magazine in thick mud, and it still hops .3s to this day It does not wanna die
My 'Ol' Reliable'? A CYMA CM.507. I bought it used when I was new, and all I could do was put a red dot I got as a gift on it. After years of abuse and use, this basic M4 still works. All it has is a Matrix T1 red dot with a killflash/protector, basic G&G flip-up back-up rear sight, a cheapo flashlight, and a cheap angled foregrip that's 100% a Magpul knock-off. I spent less than $100 on the whole thing, yet she's still goin'. Always my back-up incase things go awry. After hearing about the TAGINN M203s, though, I might have to look into getting one for the old girl. I love the good old 'Noob Tube'.
I have 2 old reliable aegs. One is a name brand, one is a China knock off from the early 2000s. My Classic Army AR300 and a Bell G3. That Bell sounds like a damn real steel .22 it's so loud, only has about 330 fps, but the sound gets people to run. I love my Mauri Type 89 and it's side arm companion, the scorpion but seeing how they have become so collectable, I've had them in my gun safe for over a decade now. Same goes for my Knights Armament Knighthawk. Bought it when Knights was still in my town, but my go to sidearm is a WG 1911 non blow back. In fact, every "blowback" rifle I have, I've disengaged the blow back feature. No need making even more noise then you need. I also agree. My Ares SL9 (now discontinued) is fully upgraded with a hand made gearbox and the quick change spring is awesome for different fields. From 500fps to over 700 depending on the field is a great sniper rifle
Seriously enjoying my VFC MK48. While yes, they do have their VFC quirks. Super light compared to other LMGs and an 8k round box magazine. There's unending fire for days. Perfect for suppression and sustained fire.
i got a M870 that had it's cross separated for a loooong time and i put it together with hot and superglue, now it's still operationnal AND reliable, never died or had a problem with it and even if it's just a srping shotgun bought for 80€ i love it and will definitely keep using it as long as it shoots and feed
When I finally get into airsoft (just trying to find someone to drag along) and get some defences I gonna make myself a dp because nothing screams videogame nerd as hard as a guy who has built their own dp27 (of course I gonna get some teaching experience first but I am definitely gonna make the plate spin (mainly so I don't have to deal with springs, yes I plan on using the spinning action to move bbs)
My umarex HK416 carbine. My first airsoft rifle I owned. $92 bucks. Buffer tube snapped but it shot just fine with the battery hanging out. Been dropped countless times but functions as it should despite all that.
My Ol' reliable is my CYMA AKM. it looks like the one at 5:12 only with a solid stock. i also have basically put this thing through the torture test and it only came out with a few scratches.
My ol reliable is my first airsoft gun. It’s an old gen 1 G&G combat machine. It’s got a really cheesy silencer and more sketchy body repairs than the average Nissan Altima. It’s still going after over a decade of abuse, the only mechanical repairs it’s ever needed is some soldering on the front wiring.
My "Ol' Reliable" is a Bamf CQB M4A1 Had it for a few years. Dropped, slammed, in water, mud, still works only have to take it apart and clean it every so often.
Taggins and other pyro are so important at big events. When I go to a big event 1-2 times a year I’m easily dropping 400-600$ on pyro alone. At some AOs it’s legit needed just to get into the buildings.
I may be a lil late to the vid but I’ve been playing airsoft for about 3 years, and have just started getting into hi capas and recently started a new hi capa build because I’m a cqb(or indoor) player and the majority of my friends play outdoor, so my current build is so I can play outdoor AND indoor with the hi capa
My ol reliable is an at least 12 year old kwa mac11, never has jammed never has needed to change parts, the mags is as old as the gun and still dont leak, its a blast to bring out and just have fun
Love to see a gear video! I have a decent gun but I’m not entirely sure what kit to run with different environments. But I appreciate the gun list regardless.
i use a standard Cyma Spot m4 with a added mosfett and smaller box mag, since i have a bad back and cant manage a heavy chest rig over longer times. Love the gun even though its a 200 dollar cheapie, hoping to upgrade the barrel and bucking soon but still enjoy every time i get to paly
my ol reliable is my FABARM stf12, first airsoft gun ive ever owned, worked through the rain, snow, dirt, and countless games, its been dropped, slammed fired countless times aswell, and there hasnt been a single problem
My pkm weighs 20 ish lb when fully topped off with bbs. I love to use it not only cause it helps my team with suppressive fire, but also because it's effectively strength training 💪
I am building a M4 dmr, a Krytac Trident MK2 SPR, aiming for 2.2joule with 0.32g bb's. I have the G&G Piranha MK1 as a secondary but planning to get a Marui compatible G17 and some mags as the minimum engagement of the M4 is 20 meters. The G&G Piranha MK1 is great, works really well but I need a modifiable pistol for reliable close range shooting, the Piranha only has 2 mags, and they are impossible to find now. Took an airsoft shop owner 6 months a while back to get one mag. Also got the cyma ak as a backup, which sometimes has broken but still works with a bit of repairs. +3 cqb m4s, a bolt sniper and a lmg on the team as well
My reliable piece is my lancer m4 gen 2 it has been with me for 5 years been through mud and rain 80,000 rounds through it and its still going nothing replaced it just wont stop
I have a small M4 model when I started off I wanted agility and easy power so I used duel pistols but now I recently bought a smaller M4 and cannot wait to bring it to my game I'm going to in a couple weeks
5:08 My “Old reliable” is this Arcturus AK I got in junior year as a birthday gift. It’s been through several years of me using it, and it still kicks like a mule.
My ol' reliable is a hot take lmao, ive been running my ARES Tavor 21 for 14 years, only issue ive ever had was 7 years in the microswitch failed, but an easy swap of the switch from the door of a dead microwave oven and its been hitting strong ever since
i got 2 10 year old cyma aks one cm 028 and one cm046. while i did wire in mosfets and put in a mrhop bucking into them they are otherwise stock. still kicking ass to this day as loaner guns.
If you just care about "minmaxing", the only thing you need is a short barrel AEG with M4 parts compatibility, the ability to tune it and high-cap mags. You don't really need barrel length in airsoft (unless you're in a very wide open area, ranges are very high and you can't use full auto), hell, you don't need to consider a lot of factors which are very important for real guns so you can shave off a lot of weight and bulk by reducing the size of your gun and bringing fewer magazines (and unless you're playing in mixed quarters, you can even do away without a holster gun), then perhaps fill that which you saved with a few grenades or a launcher. For what I read around, the G&G Speedsoft is seen as a very sweaty AEG and some organizers may ban you just for the audacity of showing up with one, but I see at least the version without the spade trigger (which is just unneeded and unsightly) as being closest to the "ideal all-purpose" I was going on about above. It loses trying so hard to look like a real gun for a few added comfort options, I don't know why we don't see more of that (the concept, not the specific model) around because not everyone in the sport is a gun nut that values so highly the replica aspect.
