Wonderful and amazing work , and very professional pop up cards , I learned a lot from your videos , thanks a lot , i hope a lot of progress for you...
Your works are amazing. I m a paper quiller and was new to pop ups and tried my own designs with few cards and a rhymes book. I would like to know, if i want to make a big project like 50 x 50 cm big base, do i want to use higher gsm papers for pop ups. I usually use 165gsm for A4 size base, but also tried with 220gsm.
@@Peter.Dahmen.Papierdesign Thank you so much for the wonderful reply. As i was thinking to get suggestion on pop up, the first person i thought of is you. Thanks a lot. I will check with your suggestions and will try out more to find which suits best for me.
I can't but help wonder whether a mirror-finish on the backing paper at 4:33 would create a 360-degree illusion (reflection) when the card is fully opened..
@@Peter.Dahmen.Papierdesign :) Thanks! Yes, I also saw it in your Eiffel Tower model (gold foil) in this video and did realize that surface-imperfections might make matters worse.

Hi. I’m currently in highschool and I’m interested in this kind of art. Can you please recommend me where to start? Is there any book that I can buy to at least learn the basics? Thank you.
Hi Angela, you will learn most by practical experience. Just try it out. I myself learned most by trial and error. Many thanks for your praise. Yes, I created all the models personally. The first models are always completely cut by hand. I am describing the whole design process in detail on my website in the “frequently asked questions” section: peterdahmen.de/en/faq/#FAQ010

Dear glinting scorpio, please have a look at the following link. The list contains many links to templates, book-recommendations and video tutorials. peterdahmen.de/en/2018/04/03/useful-tips-and-links/ From my point of view, that's all you need to get you started. You will find out everything else through your own experiments. When I started developing my own pop-ups about 30 years ago, I didn't even have a computer yet ;-) I have acquired most of my specialist knowledge through practical work with paper and cardboard - through trial and error. You can do it too! I wish you every success and much fun with the creation of your own popup designs. All the best, Peter
