Cause I was forced to wear the hijab even though I believed that it was unhealthy for me at that age with the mindset I had and still have. My parents are not horrible people or anything, I'm just trying to say that a lot of people are pressured by muslim CULTURE to do things they strongly don't believe in.

Lots of people follow rules others think are silly. It's important to them - at least to the ones who don't eat pork. I don't eat meat at all and a lot of people consider that silly, but it's important to me. I can't really judge others for doing something I do as well. The only real difference is that I'm not religious and my decision has more to do with managing my hereditary migraines than pleasing a god, but it's still something that plays a part in my daily life. Our motivations are different, but because of that I do feel just a bit of solidarity with them and the Jewish population who keep kosher and don't eat pork. If you're not in an area where that's the norm, you're living in a world where it seems like everything has bacon on it, even things that have no business having meat in or on them, and it seems like they have bacon just for the sake of having it. I do also kind of find something poetic about caring about something enough that it plays a role in your daily life - even if others outside of it think it's kind of silly. Plus fewer animals get killed, which is certainly a plus for me, even though I'm not terribly fond of pigs.

While there certainly are Muslim women who are genuine in saying that they are wearing it voluntarily and do not understand the fuzz about it, there are many more who do not have that luxury. Imagine there still being countries ruled by Nazi regimes and peace loving non-Nazi citizens seeking refuge from western societies. Then proudly flaunting National Socialist signs or garments strongly affiliated in the very oppression those people have fled, saying that no true National Socialist would ever look upon Jews or people of non-Aryan heritage as less equal and that Hitler really did what he did because he was under attack. I know it sounds like an insane and unfair comparison but these days Islam is the closest thing we as western societies pander to, regardless of its obvious signs of a totalitarian cult ideology.

I think we all know the repercussions if such a comment was made about the Jewish community. There needs to be consistency and if there is a bias, as you seem to suggest, then it would certainly not seem to be in favour of Islam. I think the problem with the term 'blasphemy' is it hard to define, but most people would agree there is a difference between critiquing aspects of a religion and making slanderous, hateful remarks. I haven't found muslims to be hypersensitive to questioning and critiquing, however if I hadn't bothered to engage with them and instead tried to develop a perspective from the The Sun, The Mail, Sky News or even respectable writers such as Douglas Murray then I'm sure I would think differently.

As someone who has been living abroad for four years, I don't mind people asking me question out of curiosity and is done politely. But there basic knowledge about Islam that we shouldn't be asked about. Plus, not every Muslim is comfortable with answering these questions or they just simply don't want to.
