The pools being in the sun and the resort having fenced off and monitored crocs are both a plus in my book. I love seeing local wildlife and it sounds like they’re hard to see even if you are seeking them, so not a danger. I’ve heard great things about this resort from people who have gone and not one of these reasons are remotely dealbreakers for me.
Cheers for the review, saved me from dumping a fortune on a resort where my 4 year old wont be able to do almost all the things that drew me to the resort in the first place.
This review is only about half accurate. We just got back Sunday, 3/3. 1) Yes, the beach has seaweed....just like almost all other beaches in the Caribbean right now. It all depends on the wind. If the wind is blowing the right direction, the beach is pretty nice. 2) We knew there was a corporate event going on only because we walked by the conference rooms. Otherwise, we wouldn't have known at all. They definitely did not take over the resort. 4) The crocodiles are no concern whatsoever. They are constantly monitored and security will be on the beach if they leave the mangroves. We never saw them once and we went to the beach everyday. 5) Yes, the splash pad and water slides are age restricted. However, my daughter is a big four year-old and they never questioned her once on the splash pad (even on the slides). I believe kids younger than 5 can just play around the splash pad as long as a parent is near, but they can't use the slides if they aren't tall enough. Also, it's pretty intense when the buckets of water drop so I don't know if you want really young kids there. 6) Yes, the room highlighted in this video is 'ocean front', but that is just an unlucky location being right near the corner. If you're not tucked in the corner, even the ocean front rooms that sit back have their perks. For one, if you have young kids, you can still enjoy the entertainment and people watching from your balcony. Also, having Diamond Club gets you preferred room locations. We had DC ocean front and got a room right on the beach in building 19. It was amazing! 7) I find it funny that the reviewer says there is no shade in the pool, yet they are finding shade under a bridge in the video. There is also other ways to find shade in the pool like from palm trees, Bali beds, the bars, etc. Plus, the Diamond Club pool area is smaller with lots of palm trees and Bali beds around. We had no problem finding shade. If you can't tell, we thought Diamond Club was well worth it!! Enjoy your trip....we had the most amazing family vacation!
This review is actually 100% accurate for us at the time of our stay, as you can see clearly from the video. As for the shade in the pool, I did say except for under the small bridge
@@adventureswiththegilbertskeep in mind that not everyone has the same experience when going somewhere. I have seen dozens of youtubers vlog their whole stay there. The entertainment was not just for teens and adults because their four yr old daughters were actually bowling there
Everyone's experience will be different. But this was our experience during our stay. From the sound of it, the likes of age limits have changed since we visited, but when we stayed, the kids had to be 12+ to bowl. I'm glad they have changed the age limit because it didn't make sense to me at the time
The only bad thing I saw was the corporate events. I've not been in many pools that have shade whilst in the pool and my advice if you want a shaded pool is go to an indoor pool. And the balcony thing I think you have got a high opinion of yourself if you think people want to stare at you in your room because those balconies looked like they were angled to get a sea view not a view of you
I know this can't be controlled, hence me saying it is no fault of the hotel. My point was about the artist impression photos online of turquoise waters, which is nothing like how this beach is in real life. But thanks for your input and for the view 👍
We are leaving today after two weeks and it has been our worse holiday we have ever had. We would have booked flights home after a week if it the flights werent at cost. The list is endless of problems the worst being these exact reasons and our son is 3 and it not for the younger kids with age restrictions, organisation of the hotel is terrible food and drink is terrible. We have changed rooms 3 times due the shower and bath water stinking of raw sewage to point it was u safe. We changed to another room that had a racoon running around the plasterboard void ceiling all night. If only i had seen this video i would have cancelled the holiday
LOL, your not going to get beaches like Dominican waters IMO. Also yeah of course the slides can hurt when you go down them, any slide that has joints like that can hurt... find me one that doesn't. Height restrictions are for safety reasons . I'm going to this place on Thursday and i feel like this review of why "not to go there" is silly lmao You could of just given it a review of 2.5/5 or something. I am super excited to go here, and will leave my opinions once i return in 10 days.
How were the restrictions? Age limit changed? I need to know for splash pad and trampoline park. I picked this place last week for October because of all these things for my 4 year old!!! 😢
@OG-Semp it was great. Amazing time if you any young ones tons for them to do. The water was very warm in the ocean. You can rent a mini pool and get a private cabana hut that gives u shade and a TV along with butler to refill your drinks. We did that twice it was great. The restaurants were all really good, with the Brazilian one being the best. Habaci was incredible but you can only go there on your last night. We Pais for VIP so we could get a butler. This was very handy because he could book all our diner rrsveratioms in advance for us.
I'd recommend but honestly. Hilton la romana is Dominican was better but we couldn't afford it this year. If you have a bit of extra money I'd go there
Agreed!! You said it best. I really regretted going to this resort bc the beach was disgusting. I also got bites all over my body from mosquitoes to sand fleas & other insects. Stayed inside my room majority of the time bc I was so miserable
Thanks for watching. They must have changed the age limit from my visit then, personally, I think the age limit should be lower still, as long as they are supervised by an adult. I hope that you had a great time!
Thanks for watching. Adults can use the slides at the waterpark. As for having access to both resorts, I think the only way to do this would be to pay for a day pass, which would be pointless if you're already staying at the Splash, as I believe the Royalton next door is dated compared to the Splash, hope this helps.
Hi, Firstly, well done on the reviews. They've almost certainly made our mind up not to go to the Royalton Splasn. I saw on one of you other vids that you preferred the Planet Hollywood hotel. Can I ask what the beach was like there? Was it clear, or did you just find the pictures less missleading? Cheers
Hi, thank you for taking the time to watch, I'm glad that you found it helpful. When we went to Planet Hollywood, we found the beach to be a lot nicer, and it did have the nice clear waters there too. I plan on doing a Planet Hollywood Vs Royalton Splash video when I get chance, so make sure you keep a look out 👍
Are there any waterparks which don’t have height restrictions. Do your research before booking rather than expect a free for all. The pool is in the sun - that’s a new one on me.
Thank you so much for this video. You need to change your title from 7 reasons to just 1. I was done when you said they have alligators/crocodiles. That is a nonnegotiable since I will have my grandchildren. Everything else was not a dealbreaker..............See you later Alligator, after while Crocodile
