i havent either . i chalked it up to 1- you can be banned or punished no matter what the reason 2- You cant sue them. Every loophole is mentined 3. Copyright laws, and anti-pirating laws
Nathan Shlapobersky weirdly enough, I was very strict about this when I got my wii, because previous to getting one, I exposed myself to the various wii fails, one of which was a person’s wiimote slipping off his hand and hitting his tv screen while playing bowling... expensive oversight...
ian2802911 I was far more cautious with the psmove strap than the wii, probably because they were a bit more accurate than the wii, or at least they felt like it
I can honestly say, I've never played a game that was rated "M for Mature" by the ESRB before I was 18. Then again, I was born in 1976 and he ESRB wasn't founded until 1994 so...technicalities?
"Take a 15 minute break after every hour of play" I think Rob's laughter sums that up better than any argument ever could. Hell, I don't even do that nowadays! lol
I know what you mean. Get me a good game (the current offender being Divinity: Original Sin), and I'll be playing it at 7pm after I get home from work, I look at the clock and suddenly it's 1am...
@@dgwlol7291 it might be embarrassing to say but recently im into competitve strategy mobile games like clash of clans, clash royale and brawl stars. I used to play mobile legends but my phone had no more space so i quit playing that game I dont know why but i want to make it in the Clash royale esports scene. Seeing the last CRL Worlds Finals made me want to stand next to them on stage one day.
I miss those manuals in color and full of images, which were included in the game cases. I guess we must be grateful they still put the disc in a plastic case, without throwing it at us like a Frisbee.
Just when I was going to mention Steam or ps store, Ubisoft for those who need things like that... Not even the cases are left. Poor poor Shadow of the Colossus remaster but it just looks too beautiful and awesome to not buy it. No matter if it has a case or not. But I would love one to put it into my shelf!
@Nooby Knight reading PC game shop user agreements say you dont actually own it, only the right to play it. It also says that, say the game to be taken off the store, it'll remove your right to play it with no refund.
+RreckinGames Depening on where you look, you might not be quite right. Some recommend a break after one hour of gaming. So 20%. Still a lot of blinking.
0:48 : Reading the user agreement 2:22 : Sitting the correct distance from the TV 3:56 : Take a 15-minute break every hour 4:49 : Always play in a well lit room 6:06 : Read the manual / play the training 7:43 : Pay attention to the age ratings 9:44 : Correctly adjust the brightness levels
I actually do most of these. Reasons: My eyes are bad enough as is and Blue Light hurts them when it's the only light in the room (also why the Blue Light filter is always on on my phone) and I have back problems that I dont want to exacerbate, plus, I'm basically skin and bones, so I kinda have to stretch every now and again if I dont want to be in pain from locked up joints and pressure sores.
Steven Lee Hi Steven, this is your Regional Manager. Meeting, first thing Monday. Enjoy your weekend. This is where I find out you're self employed or you *are* the Regional Manager 😄
I never take breaks like I should, even when MGS4 urged me to rest. No, Dave, put the dry erase marker down. It doesn't count when it's a fan that mentions it.
I remember the first time I played MG2. Was pulling an all-nighter, getting tired but not wanting to give in. I got to the part where the codec started going all weird and wonky and Campbell was half skull'd. I thought I was losing my mind thanks to sleep deprivation. Good times
But sometimes, we'd rather just quit from the chaos and try to go by the rules even for a short bit. I mean, we all did try to obey the traffic lights in GTA, right?
ah but you see, in a surprise twist by following the rules you were actually breaking the rules! In following the traffic laws you actually disregarded the way the developers intended you to play!
Yes. I'd usually get around six blocks before the intense boredom caught up with me and I immediately rammed into every available streetlight/passerby.
I'm a rebel, too. I spoke loudly in a library, and I also brought a hat to grade school when it wasn't allowed. Now I'm in high school, and hats are allowed. I'm less rebellious now I guess.
Breaks after every hour -- I'm so immersed into the games that 3 hours flies by before I even check the time again. Then I go straight back to playing.
MGS 1 manual was my regular toilet reading material. The whole thing was always so interesting and everytime i read it, i felt like i learned something new.
The worst is when your parents would take you to get a new game but not tell you they had a laundry list of errands to run before you went back home. Manuals were the only way to pseudo enjoy the game haha.
King Kai I always properly adjust the brightness, why wouldn’t you want to play the game as intended I think putting the brightness up in Resident Evil VII would ruin the experience
a bit darker is the way! like stealth games, it just feels wierd if you can see the enemies like broad day light and they cant see you for shiet. IMMERSE MEEE!!
Man I miss game manuals, used to enjoy reading then, character bios, the synopsis for the story or that welcome player message some games used to have. My favourite was reading the desc of weapons and abilities you could get in some games and some would give you hints on where to find them or something, great times.
ギュオーZoalord I loved reading in the story, characters and lore on the manuals. Sometimes when I got new games, I'd open the box and read the manual until I got home.
It's a shame they got replaced by crappy tutorials that you *have to* complete before you play the game. I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME HOW TO JUMP FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!!!!!!!!
I remember a game had a user agreement that when you hit the bottom and held down the down button, it takes you back to the top and doesn't let you go forward unless you go back to the bottom.
This was a great one, felt like one of the first Friday features I ever saw. Rob's "mom" is one of my favorite running jokes, especially Dave's voice while doing it.
Owey I was wondering the same thing lol. Because you can tell by the context of the sentence if it means something different. Like if we are talking about MOBAS then saying "lol" I'd assume your talking about league, aka toxins. But the point is, is you kind of tell what your trying to convey.
Atmosphere is a huge part of games. Lighting affects that massively, so I like to trust the developers in what the lighting should be to get the best experience out of the game
I've actually played certain games for 3+ hours without a break... it makes my hands hurt sometimes. Then I HAVE to take break because I'm getting cramps in my fingers.
I remember going into Game and trying to buy the first Uncharted. Unfortunately the man behind the counter said I wasn’t old enough so I just asked for it for a birthday present instead
My cousin tried to buy a game that he was literally a week too young to play. They wouldn't even sell it to his mom because they knew she was trying to buy it for him.
Great list, I actually love manuals. To me having the complete package of a game disc, box cover and game manual feels so much more complete, much more fun than a digital purchase.
I remember i’d always buy a copy of a game, then my parents would take me shopping and I sit there and read the manual, because I couldn’t wait to get home and play it :’)
"Ignored the age rating." Not me, actually. The first M rated game I ever got, as far as I know, was the first God of War. I was twenty when that came out.
How about when a game suggests you be at a certain level for a mission and you’re way under leveled but you go in anyway. I’LL DO WHAT I WAMT THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Walkthroughs With Steve Rather the opposite. Game tells me "You have to be at least level 15 before you enter", me: "What, I'm barely even level 27 - I'm NOT going in there yet!"
Walkthroughs With Steve I don't mind it for some games because it gives me a challenge and a good reward rather than grind to breeze through it. Although I did accidentally do that with Xenoverse 2 lol. I was like level 6 before doing the 2nd battle because I did a bunch of training missions with Krillin
you seem to forget that i know this game and i got the best skills and weaponry.... 20 mins into an area gets one shotted by boss.... well u know i got pretty far. and now i cant get out im fucked.
Miciso That's me in every RPG ever lmao. I tend to just drop the game entirely when that happens, it's bad I know but man can I just not be bothered. Happened in Two Worlds, with the wolves that I didn't even know were in the game.
Arth Banka that pretty much defines my entire experience in Witcher 3. Once I realized it actually was possible to kill monsters with skull markings I hunted them down relentlessly.
I even did that in Pokemon back in the days xD "mhm, I only have 1 Pokemon alive, better go to the Pokemon center 1 km before... nah, just save every trainer until I get defeated and forced to load and get back" xD
I occasionally play a COUPLE of the tutorial levels, like when I played TF2 i played through a few but after I completed like the beginner levels for the mandatory i jumped in with scout and died immediately like a true gamer
im a bit ashamed to have died during a turtorial (it was elite dangerous) i mean seriously i could barely even get the ship to move WITH the tutorial much less dodge the astroid.
yeah i was amazed as well.... seems this was done after the initial launch to help the real newbies out. people who pre ordered and early bought it might have played it at E3 and blizzcon so i see why they did it.
Thank guys - all your videos are awesome! Only found you about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and have been going through the back catalogue on RU-vid - so far on episode 37 of Access Granted (LOL) Wish your app was available here in Canada (Hamilton - WOO!), but guess I'll have to settle with browsing on my t.v. Keep up the awesome work - love everything you're doing (this even includes the videos for squad goals and 301 club - ha!)
Back in my day, we had manuals for every game. And there were codes in the manuals to let us play the games so we could prove we weren't pirates. And we loved the manuals, because they were actually cool. The manuals showed us pretty pictures of what the items and equipment we got in game actually looked like, because in the games they looked like pixelated blurs. The manuals told us the back-story, because they couldn't fit those on the games. The manuals told us what all the status effects were, and what special moves there were, and what spells we could get, and classes, and things like that. And the funny thing is, all of that is true. I miss my manuals. I still have some.
Meh, before the days of the internet, they worked pretty well. No scanning a copy of the whole manual and just zipping it up with the disc image for all your friends on PirateBay. Plus, it gave you something to read while Mom or Dad drove you home from the mall.
RedValkyrie 84 Same, though in my case it's having a job that's screwing things up. Just being an adult in general kind of sucks when it comes to gaming.
Oh if only I could but i think AC Origins might traumatise her!! Gaming is my escape, something that harks back to before I was someones mum and reminds me that I am more than just someones mum. Its even harder at times as I’m a stay at home parent and get next to no downtime to decompress.
RedValkyrie 84 There's loads of games that you could play with your child. At the moment me and my younger sister are playing witcher 3, she absolutely loves open world games. Always start them young!
Only game I camped in, was World of Tanks, when I was in a sentry tank that's purpose is to say in 1 spot and scan for other tanks and tell your team where to go.
Every time I put my vr headset on I hear my passed on nan saying "don't sit to close to the television you will get square eyes" and here I am putting mini tvs next to my eyes 😉
Honestly I love watching these because Rob's narration voice genuinely reminds me of David Mitchell, so it low-key feels like i'm watching some gaming version of peep show.
Finn Prosser wish I knew that before I did figure out that you could move the stick to side and it goes faster but that wasn't until I got to the second bit
I love these new list features Rob, usually your features contain specific gaming moments, bosses, trophies, etc. but these last few have been far more broad and something every gamer can relate to without having to play Final fantasy or metal gear solid. Really awesome stuff :) P.s: everyone should play at least one FF or MGS, just sayin'
32 hours straight playing Final Fantasy X when I first bought it with only 3 breaks, 2 for the bathroom, one for dinner lmao and no lights on in the room lol
