Skyrim "stealth" doesn't count, sry. With a high stealth skill you can shoot NPCs in the face and they'll still think it's propably just the wind.

skyrim was the first game i bought and couldn't keep playing it. fallout 4 graphics on ps4 already made my eyes bleed, with all those awfully ugly compressed textures and assets... but when i got skyrim on ps4, i was only able to play 1 hour: even on the pro, the graphics were so outdated, so simplistic, so compressed, so ugly, no way i would have the courage to play it during 300-400 hours. sure, visuals aren't everything... but skyrim, even on ps4 pro, looked like a 2002 ps2 game. frankly, the developer could have created a new version with high res textures...but no, they chosen the lazy way.

I got really good at Far Cry 3 &4... gave 5 a go, and nearly always get spotted and violently murdered! Eventually I rage quit, deleted the game off my system and haven't played it since

Heck yeah, FlatPanelAllen!! Whoo! That's true I think for the perk, Micheal EmbracedFlame, but it's deeply hilarious to shoot the lock off of an animal cage while still being stealthy and watch the animal kill 6+ guys and still get the Undetected bonus when you liberate an outpost.

Far Cry Primal made being stealthy really fun. Sniping enemy cavemen with arrows and having my owl kill them from above, and once I've killed a number of them, I go crazy on the last few enemies with my beast with spear in hand and take over their camp after slaughtering them all. It's just too much fun.

I tried playing Dishonored stealthily. Right at the beginning when you need a key to escape, I thought I'd drop down silently behind one of the guards and pickpocket him. I fell off right on top the guard, panicked and accidentally decapitated him. The commotion attracted his guard buddy and I accidentally decapitated him. Then I accidentally blew up the big metal doors you're supposed to open while there were a dozen guards on the other side. I tried Rob. I really did.

steve n I had no problem using mage with Normal level spells all I needed was to kill a black mage and take the robes and enchant some armor with the enchantment from the robes

Steve N mage is only op at low levels if you’re on the lowest difficulty... even having unlimited magic regen with master spells I got butt fucked by just about any high level archer, mage, dragon, warrior etc on legendary.... but then again that’s probably because I forgo magic armor and put all my level up into magic and 100 health doesn’t save you from anything at that pount

Derrick Meade Guys I just use the basic fire attack spell and kill every enemy in the game in a matter of seconds. But I use armor on my character instead of robes so my defense is good. Every battle is ridiculously easy. Im not even a mage type character. My primary weapon is a longsword and I favor stealth or speechcraft lol. This eclectic mix seems to work for me

Its actually the opposite for me, I really wanted to play Phantom pain loud and guns blazing but then i get those low mission ranks that make me feel like a failure and I go back to the stealth approach.

As soon as I got tranquilliser rounds for Quiets sniper rifle every mission became slowly removing all the guards by balloon before they woke up then taking everything that's not bolted down.

my room mate tried playing all of MGS5 without getting spotted by any of the guards, any time he did he restarted the mission. It looked awful, why would you do that to yourself?

Add the double damage from stealth attacks you get from the Dark Brotherhood gloves, and you're getting x6 and x30 damage. You can one shot most dragons with that kind of damage. I feel you Rob. Stealth archer is the ultimate build in Skyrim.

Rob I play Skyrim as a stealthy mage. Conjuration magic skill up with bound bow. Bow enchants on jewellery and armour along with the lovely stealth and bow skill points and you have win win. You conjure a daedric bow anyway with 100 arrows, so unlimited shots as long as you have mana. Fortify enchanting trick is long to prepare but you'll one shot everything on max difficulty once mastered. Yeah I platted that game 😁 love it!

There's also an interesting combo I did before in Skyrim. Not sure if it still works. Basically, you have the 15x dagger sneak attack on. You then have the one where if you charge forward and attack, it's a sure 2x crit. Then silent roll. Silent rolling counted as a charge forward so you basically do a 30x damage. If you do it well enough with dual wield daggers, it's a 60x damage. It doubles with shrouded gloves too.

Witcher 3. I've been trying for a long time to get those headshots, sneaking up on bandits from up above and meditating to respawn them. Somehow, it always end with Geralt walloping their heads off or severing limbs

I'm the opposite when it comes to Skyrim. I always plan on being a stealth character, as that is how I play any other game that offers the option to be stealthy, but inevitably I go for the fire mage build. There's just something about bending the forces of nature to my will that puts a song in my heart.

I have the oposite problem in Skyrim, I just use whatever gear that shows the highest numbers, so I allways end up with two handed maces running head first into any confrontation.

I never did the stealth archer in Skyrim, until Dawnguard gave us the crossbow. That weapon is a thing of beauty! I love the sound of the arrow shooting out of the weapon, the reloading, and ofc the satisfaction of ruining NPC's day.

Thats what i love about gaming the dance between stealth and all out gameplay. I love when u sometimes go all out just to clear a big group of enemies and than ran away and go stealth for the other enemies.

I have the same problem with the entire Fallout series. I almost always try to start out stealthy, but when a single raider notices me, I end up having to Ballistic Fist my way through every damn one of his friends because they magically knew exactly where I was hiding after I turned his head into pulp.

I mean yeah, stealth archer is basically the only way to play Skyrim. Especially once you get the Enchanced Dwarven Crossbow and then enchant it...

UGH, The Last of Us on Grounded Mode was almost 100% sneaking. Quick tip: if you hold the L2 button to aim a projectile (brick, bottle) and continue moving, you'll move at a pace that allows you to pass stage 3 clickers without being heard. That trick saved me a lot.

I love stealth games, so this is very relatable! However, I tend to stay stealthy most of the time! The problem I have with Dishonored is that killing everyone is too easy, so its' more of a challenge to go full stealth. I love Hitman as well, platinum and everything!

I did almost every mission in MGS5 by sniping everyone until i had to move in....and snipe some. That's kinda like stealth.

You forgot about the farcry games. Your supposed to be stealthy but you still got the option to go loud. Also just like you rob and skyrim somehow I always end up using the bow.

Far Cry at least goads you properly. You get what? 1500 XP if you clear an outpost without being spotted? And being a full-blown mage in Skyrim is actually pretty f*cking difficult. Magic levels up at a snail's pace, meaning you have to use various schools in order to level up and get perks, except you don't meet the requirements for those perks because you've been using various schools.

Rob do both! Get your illusion up to 50 so you get quiet casting (cast muffle a lot). Summon an atronach before you start shooting people or shoot one then raise it as a zombie. Get to adept level conjuration spells. Then use "bound bow!" Voila! You're a mage! .... Who's also a sneaky archer. You can even get bound dagger from Dragonborn DLC.

I'm a father of a 2yr old and 6 month old and it's nice to be reminded that it's ok to be a parent and also enjoy video games. That I don't need to give up something I love doing. I've been watching these for a while and I love them. I don't recall off the top of my head if this has been done or not already, but what about a video about missions that we just refuse to get done? I love the Witcher 3 but I've given up on doing any of the GWENT missions. It's very taxing and complexing trying to figure it out and just no.

Don't forget, Playstation Access, in Skyrim being a stealthy archer can take seemingly fricken forever to kill everyone in the dungeon you're in. If you're like me, PlayStation Access, you'll reload a previous save file should you alert literally ANYONE to your presence, and keep doing this till you get it right as you stealthily kill people. I typically save my game after each kill so I don't have to keep killing the same people over and over again for each time I stupidly fail at being stealthy and have to reload my previous save file due to my perfectionism.

I"m pretty good in Deus Ex for stealthy, but I was having the exact problem you mentioned playing AC Syndicate last night. I really try to sneak past, but my figures forget what buttons to push when someone is looking for me and I always end up in a large brawl that's basically the cheap version of an Arkham game's combat section.

Before Reapers, I did actually try to completely stealth a mission. Got in quietly with my scouts steering us around patrols, opened the prison cell to free the scientist, a heavy mech and a shieldbearer walk into the room.

A lot of people I know tell me they always become a stealth archer in skyrim, but I've never done it myself. My favorite game was a high elf mage. You get really cool master spells one you get high level magic

You guys seriously need to make a parody show of some sort, like a full one or a series, where Rob and Dave, and Nath play every character, mainly Rob though. I would seriously pay a subscription fee for weekly or even monthly episodes.

Even though the Uncharted series isn’t really a stealthy experience, I would always try to do a few silent takedowns when first entering an area... It always ended with explosions! Good work, Rob!

Well done Rob - this is the best vid you’ve done in ages! Loved your Skyrim “Stealthy Archer” problem. I finally did Full Mage a couple of playthroughs ago and it was fun but you’re not really missing anything.

On AC Origins when I would see one of the soldiers heading for the crazier, I would chase him and keep missing him with my sword, then get my bow out but keep getting hit, get frustrated and just go ham on everyone.

It’s always stealth games where we all at one point or another, find ourselves in a situation that involves us flailing our weapons about in the general direction of the endless sea of enemies, all while screaming in a high pitch voice. The kind of high pitch voice that literally screams “I IMMEDIATELY REGRET MY DECISIONS! AAAAHHHH!!!!”

The most recent stealthy 'annoyance' came on Thursday with Friday the 13th's challenges. They have a stealth skull if you finish without being seen and 3 counselers in one room with no escape just screams 'lets just swing the machete!' It even counts being seen as anyone finding a body so as far as I know you can't hide them in the game so it's an extra frustration.

YES! So much yes on the last one. I have started Skyrim over so, so, sooo many times. Told myself I would NOT go into Rifton first, would NOT get into the thief guild first, would NOT use that sneaky little bow. I promised myself to be a bloodthirsty orc fighting with heavy armor and a two handed axe. I promised myself to be a fire spewing mage that throws all the elements or uses ANY illusion spells at all. I promised myself to at least be a knight like guy with shield and sword. And it all ends the same. I crouch as a khajiit, head of the thief and assassin guild (and rarely any other guild), behind a rock and shoot giants with bow and arrow. Maybe even a summoned bow or crossbow when I feel fancy.

I have a similar problem with Fallout: New Vegas that most people have with Skyrim. I have tried to specialize in energy weapons, explosives, unarmed, and I've even told myself that I'd only use SMGs, but no matter what I do, I find myself playing the same way- crouched down, looking through a scope of some sort, blasting enemies from a mile away. Sneak attacks in Bethesda games (or related games in the case of New Vegas) are just too overpowered to neglect.

I can’t get enough of stealth games. May I recommend Sniper Elite 4 as a massively underrated stealth sandbox. It captures some of the best elements of Hitman, Metal Gear Solid and Assassin’s Creed AND gives you a sniper rifle! The AI is good and you can even go loud and blow things up, Just Cause 3 style. Whenever a game has a stealth option, I always take advantage of it, even if it takes 3 times longer to finish. I also played through Skyrim as a Stealth Archer. So much fun. There’s something about not being detected that makes you feel like a proper ninja. I like a non-lethal takedown option too. Dishonored 2 and Mankind Divided are so rewarding when you play through non-lethally. Honestly though, Sniper Elite 4. Check it out.

So, you always give up on magic because you can't resist becoming a stealthy archer? Ever tried a mix of illusion and conjuration? Invisibility, muffle and the quiet casting perk, and then getting the bound bow spell? Stealth mage is a fun way to play, in my oppinion anyway. Even if they are rather weak, I find a lot of fun in using the rune spells along with invisibility to place traps (poison rune is my favourite)

Yep, exact same Skyrim experience here. I always try to be a tank or mage, and always slip back in to the oh-so-comfortable stealthy archer.

I remember trying to stealthy in Far Cry 5 until one of my followed starting shooting. I have had that happen in many games. Not to mention trying to be stealthy only to have an enemy turn around after staring in the same direction for 15 minutes and then suddenly turning around.

I go stealthy, my little brother goes in guns blazing. The difference drove him mad as he watched me play EA's _Star Wars Battlefront II,_ but when I first played _Bloodborne_ he had to pipe down.

quietly flinging arrows is like my favorite way to play, when the game in particular allows it. I do like to go stealthy and I even succeed sometimes, but things still blow up more than I'd like, and some games are just fun to blow things up on purpose.

Horizon! This time I'll be tactical and hit weak points, next thing I know I am spamming explosive bombs with my slingshot XD For Skyrim, I had a playthrough with an Illusion/alteration based mage, and it felt like a whole new game! I still used sneak, but it wasn't me who did the killing most of the time. I'd go into a dungeon and cast Mayhem then go invisible, and watch bandits kill each other. Or cast Harmony and yoink whatever item I want and leave haha now I wanna go back to it.

I can relate to this vid so much, especially in the MGS series. Of course in a lot of cases when I am seen I restart from a checkpoint until I give up (unless I just don’t care in that moment.)
