Just bcs "real" salt has all these minerals, that does NOT mean that we can absorb them. So can you link me the study that proves otherwise? Until then, no thanks :S What can I say.. I don't approve wasting money. Pretty sure humans did not use salt supplements a few thousand years ago. And there is evidence which concludes that salt (pink salt included) can be harmful to humans. Killing cells and not letting them absorb all the vitamins and minerals. I hope salt is indeed the great amazing thing you claim it to be, but I'm just not sure about it. Definitely seems to treat muscle twitching ... but what is the root cause of it in the first place? Why would I try to treat it with supplements?

Some anthropologists claim Paleolithic man ate a high potassium, low sodium diet. In their viewpoint man only began consuming a lot of sodium during the Neolithic Age when agriculture produced excess food that needed to be stored by salting it. Many Neolithic communities were located near sources of salt for this reason. However, Paleolithic hunters also would have had a need for salt to preserve windfall kills. I find it hard to believe ancient humans exploiting coastal resources would not have eventually stumbled upon the preservative property of salt. Even before that they would have noticed land mammals visiting salt licks and copied their behavior. If what seems to be the predominant anthropological view is true, we had only about 10,000 years to adapt to a high sodium diet. If my common sense view is true, we had about 2,000,000 years to do so (from the emergence of the genus Homo). It's hard and foolish to buck 2,000,000 years of evolution.

The other thing they dont tell you is that sodium regulates ALL the other electrolytes. When your sodium drops you lose your whole electrolyte regulation. Salt is more important than people have been told.

Thats why tablesalt is so dangerous, it lacks all the other minerals, its just pure natrium with or without iodine (another mineral so many people lack though) and totaly messes up all mineral contents in every cell of your body. In some ways they are right too much salt is bad for you, but they twisted their story to what suits them. They deliver the cure before its even needed and this cure is a spinning wheel that never stops.

My symptoms of low sodium was lack of motivation and no dreams. First it came as slight fatigue. Stayed as slight fatigue for a long time. That later turned to a total lack of motivation to do anything. And then I realized I didnt have any dreams for a long long time. Once I started drinking salted water, within 2 days the motivation and energy returned and I began to dream again.

@@vanihansen2136 The funny thing is that had I got a blood test, it would have shown my sodium levels as within normal acceptable range. But clearly I was not consuming enough to feel my best. And I think a lot of people are in the same situation, consuming just enough to survive on, but not enough to really thrive on.

@@neonsign776 I put approx 1tbsp of salt (pink salt) in about a half of a normal glass of water. I mix it really well and then sip it over a period of 30mins. I start feeling a lot better an hour later. If I'm doing a lot physical activity or its really hot outside and I'm sweating, then I drink it twice in a day. And yes I still do this. I've learned my body tends to dump sodium out a lot faster than most, so I need quite a bit more.

So after seeing this video I added up my daily salt intake which is easy to do since I have a very simple diet. I was shocked to find out I'm only getting 17% of the RDA of salt. I increased daily potassium to 3,000 mg by eating two salads a day (2 cups spinach to 1 cup beet greens, plus 1 electrolyte drink during workouts plus food sources). All of this decreased sodium and i felt lethargic. I eat clean at home and only get salt in my food if i proactively add it, so trying to get at least 1,500 mg/day of sodium between Himalayan sea salt & electrolyte drink. Be careful when u increase potassium to healthy levels since potassium and sodium have to be managed together. Huge difference!

Actually, you didn't need to specify "not a migraine". Salt, and to a lesser extent potassium containing foods, are how many of us control our migraines. The theory is that the heightened sensory sensitivity experienced during a migraine is actually always present, and becomes intolerable due to depletion of sodium, or potassium in the nerve cells. I read Angela Stanton's migraine book, where she describes this as the issue, and how to solve it, a year ago. I've had 95% fewer migraines this last year.

I've never worried about my sodium intake. I consume however much my body seems to want. If something "tastes too salty", I'll either not eat it or eat a small amount. If something "tastes not salty enough", I add salt. Every time I have had my blood pressure measured it has been within normal ranges and I have seen no adverse side-effects, so I will continue it. When eating real foods, the body seems to do a pretty good job at getting you to "crave" what it needs. This system gets thrown out the window when you include frankenfoods.

Thanks for introducing this salt. South China morning posted yesterday here: Hk watchdogs finds metal contaminants in more than 60% of salt with one containing chemical that can cause cancer. The consumer council said they conducted safety tests on 39 samples of pre-packaged edible salt found in the city, including sea salt, rock salt, table salt, iodised salt, lake salt, smoke salt and a brand of pink himalayan salt. 😔

I started the 30 day challenge but in my case with fighting crohn's I call it the 90 to 120 day challenge. I remember long ago playing sports in school we had salt tablets for people that would cramp up. I was one of those kids that had and have them way to much and I'm 63 now. Anyway I've been eating Carnivore now for just under 4 weeks and am seeing improvement. I also started taking Electrolytes for cramps before this but have had to up the count I take now. It seem to help me when I, what most would say over salt my meat with good salt. Thanks Doctor for caring and loving us
