My partner and I completed the Chase Trifecta last November, along with also getting the BILT Mastercard. In just one year, on just the Unlimited, we've already saved up more than double what the sign up bonus was. That's not including the Preferred and the Flex. It's awesome!

Yo John… make a channel for advance audience that checked all the boxes mentioned in this video. I still feel lost where I need to be financially. Case study: Mid 30s. 2 kids and possibly thinking of another. Child care cost is pricey! I don’t want to put my finances public. But we don’t qualify for help. Everything is above average, but still feeling strap since we want the best for our kids. Also, generation… we didn’t grow up with money. Self taught with financial education.

I don't invest bc I don't understand how to invest, but I will invest it through a Roth IRA. I do however have a 795-credit score as of currently and I don't have a passive income, but I got a job. This video is helping me grow my money! thank you!

Don't forget in a Roth IRA you still need to pick you investments! The account is just a special designated account for retirement funds. But the funds inside the account still need to be invested. I know that can be a bit confusing. If you're confused about investing I recommend the book Psychology of Money!

I'm 30 now and I feel so far behind because I didn't start saving and investing till just 2 years ago because i was so busy getting out of debt. College debt mainly. Now I'm finally funding my max employer match, roth 7k yearly, and keeping money in a HYSA. It's hard when you grew up below poverty line. Grinded my way to a $150k income.

Hi John, I have a question regarding a ROTH Ira. So I have one but haven't been as active with it as I would have liked, but since the market is up right now, is it still good to put money into the index funds, etc that I have in my portfolio or wait for the market to go down?

Loved this! Question: I recently went through a bankruptcy (I was sued, long story but I basically chose bankruptcy over having my wages garnished and paid a lump sum to not have to worry about this again🙄) but my credit score is now at 450 because of that. BUT I have next to no debt. I know credit Scores are important but how does that look overall, I have the emergency fund and savings etc but how is the best way to go about setting up my credit aside from a secured credit card? And with a secured card which builds credit the “best” or fastest?

There is one thing none of you RU-vid guys in the credit and financial space don't talk enough about and that's the Roth IRA. This is the biggest gift the U.S. government gives us. If a 20 something kid would open this and start funding it regularly they would have a huge pile of $$$ for retirement by just investing in one of the major index funds.

Steps 1-6: the most basic stuff like don’t have credit card debt and have a savings account. Doesn’t mean you’re doing well, just means you’re not bottom of the barrel. Step 7: literally be a multi-millionaire

It all comes down to discipline, no matter your income level or background... if you were not taught to be disciplined financially, that won't factor in as much.

Couple of notes: 1. I don’t think interest from a HYSA should be viewed as passive income. While that may be technically accurate, it is really only a replacement of the value you lose to inflation. So while the amount of dollars in the account increases, the value of it does not. 2. A word on caution on the FIRE movement. If you get to that magic 4% per year portfolio value, people should be aware that having the majority of that value in market index funds can significantly impact how much money that 4% is when there are market crashes. You could easily lose 20% of your portfolio value and it could take years to recover that. So during that time, that 4% withdrawal could be significantly less than what your expected expenses are for those years where your portfolio is still recovering.

These are not signs you're doing well financially, individually. Even if you meet all 7 minus the last categories. These are bare minimums. This just means you are doing better than most Americans....
