Diamonds are artificially inflated and almost worthless if it wasn't for some dude marketing them real good Buy a more interesting stone than a cheap, boring diamond
I was teaching high school economics for one year. And the stupid textbook we had to follow listed diamonds as expensive because rare and (clean, drinkable) drinking water as abundant and thus being dirtcheap. I strongly objected. "But the textbook says so so it's correct and you must be wrong."
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...
@@Elliot-Ivan The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
My wife's ring has a sapphire that came from Montana from a family that owns the mines and pays people wages for the work. It is far prettier than a diamond, and it is ethically sourced.
Regarding the downside of the Venture card you mentioned, you can simply get the no annual fee Savor One card to cover the Venture card's missing 3x dining and grocery categories.
Get a sapphire ring or even a emerald ring they’re actually more rare and I guarantee that your lover will love it plus the ring will increase in price over time
Surprisingly, these gems are made of only one element, carbon. Carbon is the same element that makes coal or graphite used for pencils. Why are diamonds transparent and hard while coal and graphite are opaque and soft? It all comes down to the placement of their atoms.
@john, when are you and your wife planning to be in Portland, OR? My wife and I will take you to ANY steakhouse you want and gladly pick up the bill! Name the date and time. You have already saved me enough money to more than pay for it!
I feel like I got denied venture x because I had venture. Don’t know for certain. Decided to downgrade to venture one. Maybe that was foolish but I already got a 2% from citi.
I have the quicksilver card and been wanting to get the venture x but they haven't done a 90k offer in some time now, would this be a good alternative to go with then upgrade to venture x?
In my opinion, the welcome bonuses for both the Venture and VX are the same, so I would go with whatever of the 2 that fits comfortably with your budget. You can always upgrade to VX later on if you want. Keep in mind that the benefits of the VX will outweigh the Venture long term.
No need for blood diamonds! Or even (if this exists) ethically mined diamonds. The money you save on the gem can either be used for something else or give space in your budget for a more durable metal and more visually appealing secure setting!!
Capital One Cafe...I just found out this is a thing. Do you think there's any benefit to applying for Venture X within the cafe? They keep denying me because of the number of others cards I have.
Great video John! Capital One is really giving Chase a run for their money in terms of welcome bonuses and credits. I still think the Venture falls short of the Venture X in terms of long term travel benefits, but this is definitely a nice beginner travel credit card. Since the 75K mile welcome bonus is the same for both Venture and VX, you can always upgrade the Venture card to the VX later on if you feel that you want to take advantage of the VX benefits. Deciding what to choose between the Venture and CSP will be an interesting argument for quite some time I think.
@@stealthydaud5810I have heard plenty of stories about C1 customer support being horrific. Haven’t needed to call their customer support team yet, but hopefully I won’t need to for a while.
John, please recommend a no annual fee credit card which will enable users to get the maximum advantage in Walmart stores. Other than the Walmart credit card.
Either a rotating category card like Discover It card rn which gives you 5/10x on grocery including walmart or a catch all card 2x card like wells fargo active or co venture depending what type of strategy or ecosystem you like the most but theres plenty of decent options
