I would actually love to see a wedding finance video post- wedding. Let me know how much the venue was, how much the food was, the DJ, the photographer, and how much you got in value of gifts from your guests. I’m 23, and in my current life situation I’m expecting a wedding in the next 36 months. I’d love to hear.

Definitely something that I'll hopefully make a video about at some point! Weddings are way too expensive and it's tough to keep costs down sometimes haha

Congrats on the upcoming wedding Daniel! It's definitely true though - saving up for a wedding is 100% worth planning ahead for. Personally, I saved for our wedding over a few years, and we practiced a lot of these good money habits that you mentioned in this video! Investing in yourself is also very underrated, and I glad you brought that up because it's important to keep learning and to continue becoming a better version of yourself!

Great video, reminds me of the financial order of operations from the money guys. I’d like to mentioned that the opportunity cost for paying off debt varies based off your age. As you get older the interest rate considered high decreases. Money guy has a good break down of this.

This is unrelated to the video but what are your thoughts on the Capital One Savor card with the $95 annual fee? You dont mention it at all :/ but Ive seen that youve put the Savor One in the S tier
@Daniel_Braun
@Daniel_Braun Месяц назад
There's a breakeven point in spending where the Savor might make slightly more sense than the SavorOne for some people. But for the large majority of people, the SavorOne is plenty good enough and makes the most sense in my opinion.
@gilberto_j
@gilberto_j Месяц назад
@@Daniel_Braun thanks so much for replying! I spend alot on dining so the 4x multiplier is worth it for me and the only other card that offers 4x points on dining is the Amex Gold, which I kept getting offers for, but I didn't want to pay $250 so the Savor seemed like a good alternative

Is 401k still worth it if they don’t do company match?
@Daniel_Braun
@Daniel_Braun Месяц назад
For the tax benefits and investing for retirement, yes. But just be aware that the money is basically locked up in it until you retire - early withdraw has a penalty
@Louboy2
@Louboy2 Месяц назад
I thought Roth IRAs have a 10% penalty if under the age of 59.5 and earnings are tax free after 5 years? Feel free to correct me!
@Daniel_Braun
@Daniel_Braun Месяц назад
The penalty is for withdrawing earnings. Like I said, you can withdraw contributions at any time because you've already paid taxes on those contributions. But I would still leave the contributions in the Roth so it can grow - withdrawals on the contributions are just nice to know that you have that option
@sunshinecycling
@sunshinecycling Месяц назад
Be very careful on the "withdraw contributions at any time without penalty". There is more to the story...
@Daniel_Braun
@Daniel_Braun Месяц назад
Another reason why I never withdraw contributions - not worth it, but it’s there as a backup option if needed which also gives a little extra peace of mind 👍 Still better to keep it there and let it grow over time though

Why invest in a Roth IRA and not a regular training account? It's all taxed...

No taxes on earnings in Roth. Taxed on earnings in regular brokerage. Over decades of investing the savings are significant by prioritizing Roth IRA first
