Laws are usually different when a woman is the victim. Even a 14 year old unarmed boy can overpower a woman, rape, beat and murder her. A woman can usually use anything as deadly force to protect herself. Whereas there may be questions if it is a grown man that probably could have subdued the 14 year old without deadly force.
If you have any knowledge about guns, which I think the Clerk DID. Being an unloaded rifle I do believe the clerk could see clearly that the rifle still had the Safety on ( easily seen on any rifle or shotgun) and the guy couldn't have fired it anyway. Being unloaded there would be no reason for the safety being off.. If you look close, you can see the clerk looking at the rifle when the guy had it aimed down at the floor before he raised it up which gave the clerk the opportunity to grab it. As usual stupid robbers do stupid things like robbing a store with an unloaded weapon.
