As for the rivalry between Peter and Eddie, they could easily say that Eddie likes and respects Peter, but hates Spider-Man. In the 616 universe I don't think Eddie cared one way or the other about Peter before becoming Venom and learning that Peter is Spider-Man, and in some universes Peter and Eddie were friends.

@@shaunavant532 They said Eddie wasn't going to be Venom in Spider-Man 2. That doesn't mean that they can't have him be Venom in a standalone game. It's not like it's going to be comatose Harry Osborne. It wouldn't make any sense if they tried to have him be Venom in the game, so it has to be someone else. Eddie exists in this game's universe, so there's no reason not to use him.
I really hope its true that they are making a Venom game. Playing as Venom going through the city, the combat, and fighting Carnage? That sounds awesome!
How I would do venom is something similar to what caboose said, but when Eddie becomes venom , he goes after Peter / or Peter & MJ which will cause miles to get involved and force Peter to put on the mask. And for traversal , venom can do both super jumps and a more brutish way of web swinging .
Seeing the Daily Bugle as a location like feast and doctor octavius’ lab were in the first game would be cool. We could see the other pov of what JJJ is up to, see his reaction to stuff that spider-man has been doing from a different pov, and hopefully meet characters like Betty Brant.
I wouldn't mind having the wings to glide like the web wings of miles & Peter in spiderman 2 as well as the wings be a fashion accessory. Like you can equip or unequip it.
I think another thing a Venom game needs to be good would be an M rating, I know a lot of people would be surprised but Venom is a brutal character and you can only do so much with a T rating.
As a die hard Eddie Brock/Venom fan, I loved Harry/Venom... it gave a more personal rivalry for Peter, and they could go full villain towards the end... and i'm cool with that...THAT IS if they give us a Venom game where Eddie Brock takes over as Lethal Protector anti-hero.. and they do the character Venom/Brock full justice. Also air tricks being replaced with air SCARES/ROARS would be epic.
@@AkumaOujii Yeah instead of trick moves like dance poses, or swing poses that Peter/Miles do... you can have VEnom do different ROARS! different scare poses with Symbiote surging out in different ways as he swings through the air. Combing them to make cool animations. Would even be cool that the more you do the more you hear pedestrians scream lol.
I want Venom to go to it's original routes. Even in his standalone game i want him to be a Spider-Man Villain not an Anti Hero. Heavy physics based Web Swiging, Destructive Wall Crawling and also a Rated M game where he actually eats his victims.
I definitely don't see Harry being Venom in a Venom game. My guess is that it would be a sequel to SM2 and the symbiote survives. I could even see being able to control the symbiote while it searches for a new host, with it being controlled like the spiderbots.

If they do end up having a Carnage DLC for Spider-Man 2 (Not really very likely at this point ngl) they could have Insomniac Brock make his debut in the DLC, maybe have a Mission or 2 where you play as Eddie like the MJ Missions and Miles Missions from SM1, then the Carnage DLC could lead into a Venom Solo Game
As a Venom comic reader and the opposite side of spectrum where I'm instead a stickler for comic faithfulness, I agree all but number 2. Unless you mean a friendly rivalry, Harry already ruined the chance for adapting 80s era Venom and I highly doubt they'd be willing to show Eddie being the one to forgive Peter first, only for it to be Peter to continue out of a grudge, until someone (since Flash doesn't exist here) calls Peter out, Peter finally forgives Venom and they finally become friends. If you are going to do Knull properly you can't have Venom and Spidey wanting to kill each other, Venom was a full hero at this point in the comics for a reason. Knull is faaaaar stronger than Thanos.
Venom has a lot he needs to be in his own game look at ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN for example, great outline. Now Insomniac can improve on what was already there. I think he needs to use tendrils instead of webs as a subtle detail to make him different from Miles and Peter, But so that he doesn't have gliding wings, he should leap higher than the other two making him more distinct. Eventually Venom does become a non lethal hero so maybe make his takedowns brutal like how Batman breaks or cripples, Oh and don't forget the monstrous wall crawling, like Spiderman but tearing up the surface he crawls on leaving marks
I disagree with the tendril bit--Venom has spider-powers, too. Give him his webswinging. But hey, if multiple costumes are a thing, maybe a costume like the Venom movie could swap his webs with tendrils.
When it comes to gameplay. I think they should take some inspiration from [Prototype] not everything of course. Because some of it fits better with carnage, but the power fancy feeling that game has, can mesh very well with venom, and some of the powers feel very similar to him too. I think it should be a perfect blend of their Spider-Man gameplay mixed in with Prototypes gameplay, and then they might have a winner.
We just need some cunning and psychological warfare from Venom. Harry knowing Peter so well could have done that, toyed with his dreams, MJ, and pulled him and Miles apart directly. Instead Venom just puts a symbiote on MJ and Miles seems to be filler to the Peter story. We could have had some tension between all of the Miles abilities and Peter feeling inferior. Miles being younger could have made mistakes like we had in his game and Venom Peter could have become aggressive and angry at Miles. The closest we got was the Venom Peter chasing MJ in that construction area. That was PEAK.
The problem with Venom web swinging is that he’s too big for that to look good. That’s why super jumping like the Hulk is better for that size, because Venom basically is Hulk. That’s why I’ve always preferred him smaller like the 1994 cartoon. When you have a buff Eddie Brock then it makes sense for Venom to be his size like a costume. A black suit Spider-Man but with sharp teeth. He’s the anti-Spider-Man. When the host is just a normal guy like Tom Hardy, Harry Osborn or Eddie in the Ultimate universe then they have to compensate for that by making their Venoms Hulk sized.
I think they should have a web of shadows type option where if you wanna be massive and hulking you can but you have to get far into the story or you can be small and it can work into small making the game more of a challenge for gamers and the big hulking venom Being easy so casual Gamers have fun
If Insomniac can give a Miles-styled game with Venom, it would really help redeem them in a lot of peoples eyes, what with Spider-Man 2 being a little under cooked and the lack of DLC. Save all of that potential DLC for Venom's game.
1. Eddie 2. Being able to swap between human and Venom 3. Smaller Venom, Like Eddie sized 4. Less tendrils more webs 5. No more eating humans 6. No toes 7. No more 90s Venom Just take Donny Cates' run and the whole character development for Venom. Oh the most important thing. The symbiote is not called Venom
I could dig a venom dlc. make it like 6 hours long but the symbiote attaches to a random and then we have like whatever missions except the Spider-Men chase us and fight us. We’re just doing it from venoms perspective. And we can have them like trying to get rid of the symbiote or whatever. We can have open world. But at the end the symbiote gets away and attaches to Brock. Just spit balling some ideas lol
Something I’m really interested in, would be what boss fights the game would have. I think Juggernaut is a big enough physical threat for a big meaty men slapping meat fight, and could be used to introduce Insomniacs Wolverine as a cameo character. I also obviously want Carnage and Shriek. And it’ll sound like a joke, but I think a quest where you track victims of being sucked of their blood, and fighting Morbius.
Webs have always been part of his arsenal, so a big yes to that, give the man his webswinging back. Heck, let him turn invisible like he used to. He was doing that stuff long before Miles was even a concept on the drawing board.
I have to say Venom has always been my ultimate favorite character from comics. After watching and listening to this list of necessities, I can honestly agree with each of them, Caboose. I can tell he is a favorite to you, too. I hope the Insomniac Devs listens very well to this list 🤞😎🤞
If they are making a Venom game, I’m hoping that it will be a separate universe because I really don’t want Carnage to be saved for a Venom game and then not fight Spider-Man in a DLC or Spider-Man 3
IMO, it would be better to leave Carnage for Spider-Man 3; Venom or Spidey 2 DLC (IF ANY) could involve the Life Foundation and then Carnage could show up as either a secondary villain, or even the first big threat before Goblin, pretty much like what happened with Mister Negative in the first game, then he got somewhat sidelined and Doc Ock became the main antagonist. If Insomniac chooses this route, they could even have us fight Red Goblin as the final boss of the game!! Imagine if the G-serum is used on Harry as a cure for his coma, but instead turns him into Green Goblin, then Spidey takes him down (either kills him or removes the serum which puts him back into a coma), then Norman finds the Carnage symbiote and uses it in conjuction with the G-serum and becomes Red Goblin. Or we could start of with Norman being GG from the get-go, as having to fight Harry again would feel too repetitive and then he bonds with Carnage if he fails to kill Spidey the first time around. Also it would be really interesting if the game takes place after a time skip during which Pete and MJ have a child and after Norman/Harry finds out who Spidey is he turns their child into the Goblin Childe, adding an even more personal touch to the story. (note: I haven't read comics in a very long time, I just know some stuff here and there)

I might be in the minority here, but as much as I love Eddie Brock, I feel like Harry should stay as Venom here. A couple reasons why. First, Eddie’s never been introduced in this universe so introducing him in a game the length of Miles Morales may feel a bit rushed. We at least got to know Miles throughout the first game and it’s DLC as he lost his dad, was bit by the spider, and started being mentored by Peter. Second, a game starring Harry as the lethal protector could give us an opportunity to dive deeper into the guilt he feels for everything he did in the last game, as well as further explore his complicated relationship with his dad, especially as Norman is really starting to go off the deep end. We need to see that final push that turns Norman into the Green Goblin in the inevitable Spider-Man 3!
@@blacksuit5247 At this point in the series? Yes. After Spider-Man 2, there’s probably one more spinoff, and then the final chapter with Spider-Man 3. There’s already lot happening in the story, so to all of a sudden introduce another big character like Eddie Brock would feel too crowded.

I lost faith in any dlc for SM2 (outside of maybe some skins) seeing as though plans for a dlc were leaked, Insomniac could always say they never confirmed anything. Who’s to say that they ceased any plans for Spider-Man and Venom by extension for the moment to focus on Wolverine, which I’d wager they’d be directing more manpower towards possibly to make up for the hacks

We'll I don't think it's such a good idea for Harry Osborn to be Venom again in it, having Harry as Venom serve as a antagonist and final boss for Marvels Spider-Man 2, but to have Venoms own game star Harry instead of Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson is a middle finger to fans of the character.
