You have to kind of bend the prongs out on the light bulbs so that they always stay in contact. Prong em out just a bit on both sides.

Ok so the headlights should have been stock to begin with, the flex pipe is a common issue just get one from the junk yard they give those away for free, and if you don't fix the pipe smoke will start going through your air vents when driving at high rpm's. Also the body isn't perfect cause the MK4 has been around since 1999 thats a 18 year old body style, again you not leaving the suspension stock cause the bump you probably should have never lowered it, these cars are fine as stock they are a very old style and you should be way more careful with the plastic components. And yes I've been pulled over once for the exhaust before i fixed it you probably were in a lower gear when you should have just been cruising in 5th or 6th gear cause thats what i was doing and it wasn't loud although i was let off with a warning.

The body is complete and absolute shit, but the motor, tranny, exhaust, and coil overs are strong and functional. I'm proud of it, but the body embarrasses me in public. 30 times?

I own this car. Here is my list of 7 things i hate about my 2005 GLI. #1 The headliner and door card fabric comes off and gets this horrible orange foam glue everywhere. #2 The stitching on the Recaro's split after 3 years. #3 The power cable that runs from the alternator to the battery distribution box will fail and burn up. Will catch the distribution box on fire. I've replaced that cable 4 times. #4 Triple Square sockets. They are only used on German cars and are stupid hard to find. #5 Wheel locks. Everyone has the key so they aren't protecting your rims. Plus the key is made of soft pot metal and wears down to nothing after a few years of use. Took mine off. #6 This car has a MAF and MAP sensor. Why? Only 1 or the other is needed. Just makes it twice as hard to tune. #7 The O2M 6 speed manual transmission. The 6 speed is pointless, you loose time shifting through 1st and 2nd. Give me a 5 speed with longer evenly spaced gears. #8 Stock water pump has a plastic impeller that will fail and block the coolant from the block. It Last's 2 or 3 years before it fails.

mines a fucking lemon. got it at 105k miles for $9000 2 years and 20k miles later I've had to put 6 or 7 thousand into it to keep it running. needed a new cat, tie rod, back caliper, fuel pump, timing belt, wheel alignment, brake light switch or sensor or something. the car would just stop accelerating even if I had the pedal to the floor. I replaced a mirror that fell off and the window controller myself. currently I don't have a hand brake, traction control and ABS cuz of the shit wiring that's in the car. I've been told twice by the same girl that my brake lights don't work so I get out and slap my assemblies and it's fine. the headlights are fogged as shit. I like the car but it's a gold digger.

That's in fact coming from another MKIV GLI owner , and in regards to tickets I have a Sundown 12 beating non-stop on 1,000 watts and I have never been pulled over in the nearly 100k miles that I've put on it. In following a recall was available for the coil packs.
