Just picked up a mk6 GTI 6 weeks ago. 2500 miles later I think the thing I love most about this thing is how much of a sleeper it is! People tailgate me from time to time and when the try and pass me they are shocked to see how quick this thing is.
I've got a Golf GTI MK5 Pirelli edition, I went out on it today. Stage 2 Dyno tune, Stage 1 DSG tune, full custom exhaust system with a bluetooth silencer, blow off valve, 3.5" catback, pod filter, new intake and intercooler. It spins in 1st and 2nd gear, spins when the boost kicks in due to too much torque.. even spins out at 100km.. lol. It's hands down the loudest car I've heard in Australia, absolute cop magnet.. lol. Awesome video bro, beautiful and bad ass MK6 you have there.
This video just popped up in 2023. In June I bought a 2014 mk6, white, 4 door manual and it's in the shop getting exactly the same mods for stage 2! I sold my 18 Challenger GT V6...... The GTI is faster, gets better mileage, tons sportier, and everyone isn't trying to race me any more! It was half the price of the Challenger even after the mods! Love this car :)
Great video. Probably the best down to Earth GTI video I’ve seen. Your order of preference is pretty accurate. I have a 2013 MK6 GTI stage 1 Unitronic, Stage 1 Unitronic DSG and a ST coilover setup. Fun car to drive as a daily!
I haven't signed into RU-vid in literally like 5 years so clearly I don't do this very often. I wanted to support you and your channel. I think your videos are very well done, very polished, and you yourself are confident and well spoken in front of the camera. You're doing a great job and I hope to see more vw content in the future. Keep it up man your channel is going to blow up before you know it!
Him fanboying over the s2k at the end lol, my s2000 was just totaled this month and I ended up buying a mk6 4-door gti. It’s a fun car but I really miss my s2000.
I love that no one wants to race me either. In my Audi I would get the occasional rev at a red light but not in the GTI. Just fun to drive and goes when it needs to and is so much fun to drive, and yeah gas mileage is way better than any larger sports car. My wife said if looks like an old man car lol! I love it! I plan on upgrading the speed components but keeping the outside as old-manish as possible.
Great video ! This made me miss my mk6 gti . It got rear ended and was a total lost , my favorite thing about the gti was how comfortable and how much fun it was driving it of course I was stock with just a intake but I had big plans 😣 Now I'm looking into a focus st. Dude why havnt you blew up yet ! Haha 👌
Mostafa Mougharbel I would go for another mk6 but I would like to own another car and the way I got the loan for my old gti doesn't allow me to take out a mk7 or purchase one but a mk7 would be dope
The only thing I hate about my mk5 gti 09 dsg is that it’s old and all the plastics likes connectors in the engine bay are brittle at 134k miles but did rear main and water pump and haven’t seen a leak out of this 13 year old car In months very reliable and is bitter sweet when it comes to working on it diy
The handling and the pick up is insane. 2013 GTI 2 door with manual. I tried DSG and it's not as fun for me. I'm from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and I've always driven manual.
i have a white k04 gti i guess thats stage 2+ ??? anyway, crazy power that I like. definitely more aggressive and the sound from the downpipe is great. of course had to get the intercooler as well and michelline tires. My next upgrade will be the dsg tune. I enjoy the look, feel and power of the car. What I don't like is when it just finished raining and I come to a complete stop, because of the design of the car the water drips down inside if the windows are down. Also, gets dirty quick on top of the rear bumper. Other than that, I love it! Nice video man!
I have a MK6 GTI with APR stage 1, agree with you on the DV and the tires after tuning. It's a fun car for sure, best low cost sporty daily that is well built IMO.
I love my sleepy mk6 jetta. Apr stage 1 intercooler cai turbo muffler delete cat back. My intercooler is gold and gets the street cred from car guys. The best is when I get to surprise some gootch with 310tq at 1500 rpm haha. Vw fam
I have an option to get a mk6 R dsg stage and a mk6 R dsg stock , which 1 should i go with im thinking the stock just because i wanna do everything my self so i feel like i have more of an owner ship towards the car
thats all up to you man. Me personally, I would maybe look at MK7 if you can. My MK6 is fun and all but stage 1 mk7 GTI's keep up, if not, sometimes even beat me. The price is coming down on them and they can make so much power
Tony Sanch im only 18 and i can only drive the mk6 on my P's i have to wait for my full license if i want an mk7 R and in australia u get ur full license at 23
Low Kid whoa that’s crazy I had no idea it worked like that there. If you are trying to decide between stock or stage one, There are 2 sides to that. Because unless you know how to flash the car, you are just going to take it to someone who knows how to flash the car so if you get the car already tuned, it’s less headache. With that being said, if you get it stock, you will know exactly what tune is going to be put on it because you’ll be putting it on with the tuner.
Tony Sanch since im a car person and cars are like my life i wanna know what goes on it and I'm gonna own the car for like another 5 years so i don't wanna get bored of it but u have a good point
I’ve wanted to buy a mk6 GTI forever now, the one I’m looking at has a stage 2 unitronic tune on it, and I’ve never heard of unitronic before. Afraid that it might be beat to hell, but also might be able to get it for really cheap. Thoughts?
It's likely going to be beat to hell. I have a Mk6 GTI with 170k and I love it but the original owner did not take the best care of the car. Save up some $$$ for stuff to go wrong because it definitely will LOL
So you have any problems with the carbon build up? I hear it’s super common and supper annoying, and I’m going to hopefully buy a 2012 GTI 6spd in a few days and wanna know what I’m getting into haha
If you drive it hard carbon won't build up, but yes I had the carbon cleaned at 50k miles then did the catch can. Methonal injection heavily reduces carbon build up as well.
I just got my GTI 6 months ago so far I love it. But just need more pep. When you do full service every 10k miles what exactly do you do? I do my oil changes around 3 to 4K miles .
Thanks man! Here it is: APR Stage 2 ECU tune (V 2.4) CTS turbo, turbo back exhaust (Cat-less DP) CTS Turbo intake GFB DV+ ARM Motorsports front mount intercooler CTS Turbo throttle pipe ARM Motorsports turbo outlet pipe O.Z. omnia Wheels EBC Yellow stuff brake pads And just recently installed was ECS Tuning aluminum control arms and torque solutions dog bone mount.
I got stage 1 intake and catback and made my DSG farts go away ..need stage 2 and dp to get it back hopefully . Ru catted? Yor DSG farts didn't sound as loud as I wanted it to be
Here’s a question that hopefully someone can answer: i know with a manual i need a new clutch for stage 2, is that the case with the DSG? if i don’t need a new clutch, i think i’ll do the dsg instead
Which a manual u don't automatically need a clutch. If ur a decent driver your fine. Ive been stage 2 for 40k miles still stock clutch. And no with a DSG u dont upgrade the clutch period
Nice Video I been thinking of getting a GTI or A Golf R it's only $6k more right now I drive a Turbo Beetle and I love it looks like a Porsche but blown upwards it Handles so well I take freeway off Ramps that post 25 MPH at 55MPH and it just sticks this car just pulls when going up a Mountain and when you put it in shift mode I actually have beaten Honda Si and which I couldn't believe I beat this car at the Drag Strip a Charger well I beat it lol off the line and up to half track than it took me. I used to own Mustangs and had over 648 RWHP very fast at The Track but this car not as fast but way more enjoyable and great Features for the Price. So my next Car I want is the APR Stage 2 Golf just need to decide on which one GTI OR (R) it's only $100 more a month in payments
Go with the R, 292 HP stock, looks extremely good for a stock car (4 tips exhaust, nice Rims etc) the only thing you can consider is lowering springs or coils to make its stance better, K04 turbo (k03 in the GTI), and most importantly the car is an AWD !
