It's speculated that Mad Eye knew what their true forms looked like. From the order of the Pheonix, when they contemplated whether it was a cursed object or a boggart and stated they should ask mad eye who could look through certain solid objects so would see it but it wouldn't see him.
I love your videos but I would have one critique to make. When you are referencing material from the books and movies, please reference which ones. I knew most of these book references only because I am currently rereading them all, but I would have liked to know which book each of these facts was taken from in case I somehow missed them in my rereads.
1:Ron Weasley isn't useless 2: Ginny Weasley's name is actually "Ginevra," and is a complete badass. 3: Arthur Weasley was meant to be skinny 4: Molly Weasley is even cooler than in the films 5: Fred and George aren't supposed to be tall 6: Charlie Weasley actually exists 7: Bill's scars weren't good looking like in the films. oh yeah and I forgot about Percy that's all you need to know
You forgot two things. That after Fred and George failed to do the unbreakable vow, they were spanked so hard that their left buttocks weren't the same after that, and the movies portrayed Ron in such a wrong and poor light that people who didn't read the movies think Ron as useless and crappy friend, plus his best lines were given to Hermione.
So many good lines and moments of other characters were given to Hermione. Examples include (1) Ron telling Sirius in Prisoner of Azkaban that if he wants to kill Harry he’d have to kill them too. Keep in mind Ron’s leg is fucked up at this point so he is essentially useless, but he is still brave regardless. (2) Harry is the one to suggest riding the dragon out of Gringotts. Hermione is actually the last one to get on it. For some reason, someone felt that Hermione needed to be a “stronger” female role model when she already was a great female role model. Her brains were an invaluable resource, and while Harry and Ron certainly have their own skills, they wouldn’t have survived nearly as long on the run without her. The flaw that makes Hermione so relatable for everyone is how she freezes in the real world scenarios. She’s great at the theory and learning, but when it comes to the practical side, she has a tendency to freak out like many people would.
Excellent pickup! Fleur’s heritage is completely neglected and IMHO, not a great casting in the movie. But what do I know. Maybe the actress would have been spectacular if given more than a few lines (and that’s being generous)
I’ll never forget that scene when Harry asked that conductor where platform 9 3/4 is. “You think you’re being funny do you” he says?Wonder what ever happened to that guy? Lol
6:16 Although Charlie never played a major role onscreen during the films, he actually does appear briefly in this picture from Prisoner of Azkaban. He is the one standing behind Ron and Molly.
All the Book Characters, including the minor ones, had more Individuality when compared to their Movie versions.. They failed to capture the true essence of Harry Potter himself - less witty, less sassy, less brave, less intelligent, and definitely less petty/jealous than the Book version.. 🤷🏻♀️
They didn't add in that Bill Weasly was "Cool" and that the twins were afraid of messing with Charlie because he was bigger and tougher than they were. Plus Charlie was so good at Quidditch that if he had not gone after Dragons he would have played for England's professional team to vie for the World Cup according to Oliver Wood in the first book.
They did Petunia and Duddley extremely dirty. Both have grown in the books - Duddley started to feel guilty about how he treated Harry and changed behavior in order to fix that little relationship they had and Petunia faced her trauma once she learned from Harry that Voldemort was on the rise again and that Harry isn't to blame that her parents favored Lilly over her. Neither of them ended up on loving family terms with Harry, but Duddley and he wrote each other occasional letters and stayed in contact. In the movies the Dursleys where insufferable asshats to the end who abandoned Harry and their home. Book Dumbledore was a rather random acting man who went out of his way to have some fun himself and not thta stern, almost rude patriarch who ruled with a golden fist. In the books he had a hippie vibe and in the movies? Gold, Gold, Gold and accessory? More gold!
ginny weasley wasn't a dump and unwanted charecter to give love potion..and Ron wasn't an unwanted useless intruder between harry and hermione- these two facts also unknown to the movie watchers.
A big part of the Percy issue was that he was ambitious and felt Arthur wasn't and was even holding him back. This starts before the whole Voldemort is not back thing.
He also neglects to mention Charlie's appearance in Goblet of Fire. He's around for the Quidditch World Cup and is one of the dragon handlers for the First Task. I believe he’s also staying at Grimmauld Place as a member of The Order of the Phoenix at the beginning of book 5 and accompanies everyone to Kings Cross on September 1st but I could be mistaken on that one.
I never could understand why Molly was directing her kids like they never been to Hogwarts before, when they first met Harry. Even if it was Ron's first time, Fred and George are following like they don't know where to go.
I just figured she was making doubly sure Ron knew where to go and was also instructing Ginny, preparing her for when she would attend Hogwarts a year later. Like a mom would lol
My favorite part is in the goblt of fire when Molly and Bill came to visit Harry as a champion and everyone spent the day together it was great and wholesome
Charlie didn't appear in the first book. His friends visited him and on their way they took Norbert and delivered him to Charlie. Instead he appeared in the fourth book as one of the dragon keepers who take care of the dragons and Hagrid even talks to him.
Charlie actually comes back to Hogwarts 3 times, First book with Hagrids dragon, 4th book with the dragons for the champions(first challenge) & the last book as you mentioned
@@coltywolty01 He is definitely a gryffinpuff I mean he's loyal and a hard worker, (I'm not saying that Gryffindor's arent but those are defining traits of Hufflepuffs)
I feel Percy greatly redeemed himself in the end. He bravely showed up at the battle of Hogwarts, admitted his errors, apologized to his family, and fought alongside them.
Great video, but Charlie never came back to Hogwarts in the Philosopher’s Stone. He sent 4 friends to pick up Norberta. You are still right that he made an appearance at Hogwarts twice in the series, however, he made an appearance in the Goblet of Fire for the first task. And also he was obviously there for the Battle of Hogwarts.
Charlie Weasley was also in Goblet of Fire he went to the World Cup and was one of the wizards that brought the dragons over for the first challenge and had a conversation with Hagrid when he takes Harry to see them
A random thought occured to me in regards to Charlie Weasley, and I am not sure whether this theory is addressed in any of your work, but here goes. I have heard it noted in one of your videos that Charlie Weasley's job studying dragons is a job of passion, and not particularly financially signigicant. The theory that popped into my head, which others may well have thought of, is that his job studying dragons may actually be fairly lucrative. The dragons left in the HP Universe have been suggested to primarily live in protected areas, like where Charlies studies them. The population would presumably be somewhat dwindling. Virtually every part of the dragon is used by wizards. Different parts of the dragon are used in potions, wand cores, clothing/protective equipment, fertilizer, and who knows what else. I think it is fair to expect that other parts of the dragon could also be used as trophies, knick knacks, art, etc.. I think it would be a reasonable assumption to make that Charlie and his peers would be largely responsible for all contact with their subjects (dragons), and very well may be responsible for collecting all of the dragon products from the animals. At a bare minimum, the collection and sale of the dragon blood, heartstrings, scales/hide, dung, liver, etc. would fund all of the research. I expect every dead dragon, from the population Charlie studies, would be harvested to supply the wizarding world. I expect that the combination of the danger of the job, and the collection of dragon material would actually make Charlie Weasley's job quite financially rewarding. Thoughts?
I have the upmost respect for the Weasley family, because they are good, heroic, down to earth people. Even though they aren't rich, yet, they are still good loving people. I can see why they are so well liked among the fans and the good characters in the story.
Wat was the unbreakable vow, the weasley twins wanted ron to agree on? ( its been too long since i read the books, so i cannot remember if it was mentioned in them??)
6: Charlie Weasley actually exists Showed up three times in the books. Philospher's Stone; The dragons at the Triwizard Tournament (How Ron found out about the Dragon Challenge and told Hagrid and Harry) Charlie was one of the handler's and the Battle of Hogwarts in book 7.
Charlie never visited the school in the first book. He had friends flying to meet him in Romania and they are the ones who stopped by to pick up Norbert
Video idea for you to do: What secondary effects do spells have that are not seen in the movies? For instance, what else can the patronus spell do other than ward off dementors?
Charlie Weasley didn’t return to hogwarts to retrieve Norbert. He had some friends pick him/her up. He only was at the school during goblet of fire and briefly at the end of the battle of hogwarts. He also met them at the burrow for the World Cup.
Charlie did NOT retrieve Norberta. He arranged for friends of his to pick her up and deliver her to him. He returned to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament as a dragon handler. The second time he returned was for the final battle. He appeared in the books other times, but those are his only two appearances at the school.
Might be wrong but don’t think Charlie is in philosopher’s stone, think he writes to Ron but it’s his friends/colleagues that collect Norberta on broomsticks not him
Movies forgot about the gnomes at the Weasley's residence. Ginny acts like an Amazon sometimes... being an only girl, and also the youngest... she sometimes needs to defend herself from her older brothers' roughhousing. Because you know "boys will be boys".
Charlie did not come to Hogwarts in regards to Norberta. Some of his friends that were travelling past Hogwarts picked her up for him. He did however come to Hogwarts with the dragons for the Triwizard Cup! Other than that it was a great video! Always love to see more people talking about the books :)
If you have not done so already, have you ever consider making a video regarding the rules of Newtonian and how they would work in the magical world. Do Newton’s laws like F=MxA still apply. Is the speed of light the same in the magical world as it is in the muggle world. Been watching your videos for years. Keep up the great work.
@@venkatrao161 Hey Venkat, thanks for your reply. I still think that the Law of Conservation of Matter, i.e., matter cannot be created or destroyed but can be changed in form, would still apply. Things can be vanished or conjured, but can you create matter in the magical world. I see a doctoral thesis in this somewhere. Just engaging in some friendly discussion. Wishing you only good things.
I never understood why Molly gave that watch to Harry and not to Ron. Like that poor child got nothing but hand-me-downs. I mean a much vintage watch would have been a nice birthday gift. Plus Harry was loaded and had an amazing cloak from his father entire family line. Ron...nothing!
You definitely missed one. The Weasleys had a Floo Network, and likely -- before they met Harry -- used the Floo to get to Platform Nine and the Three Quarters. (Do you see the Malfoys and other Pureblood Supremacists using the Portal? NO!) The question of why they were there on the Muggle side of the platform when Harry was looking for the Portal is a question that has NEVER been answered. And also why they never used the Floo to the Platform since.
It's kinda surprising given how steadfast and true friends the Weasleys were as a whole that they didn't end up in Hufflepuff. Maybe Percy in Slytherin for his dedication to personal advancement.
5:55 You are wrong about Charlie. He wasn't there in Philosopher's stone. He just sent people on broom to get Norbert (Norberta) for him. However, we saw him in the Goblet of Fire and the Deathly Hallows.
Charlie didn't get the dragon from Harry and Hermione his friends did. He didn't go to Hogwarts until the Triwizard Tournament. There's a whole lot missing about the Weasleys, particularly Bill, Charlie, and Percy and it drives me crazy. They put so much crap that didn't happen in the books in the movies and left out some rather important stuff
it was 3 times in the book charlie weasley came back to Hogwarts and also charlie meets harry before they go to the quiddicth World Cup . chalice never appeared in the first book to pick up norbert,it was his friends who did it .also he came in the fourth to show the dragons to hagrid and last for the battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter
Erm... Charlie did not return to Hogwarts in book 1 to transport Norbert the dragon he sent his friends to collect Norbert on their way to visit him in Romania...
@@Historygeek2006 Molly asks Moody to look in a desk to see what inside, as she was reluctant to open it. Moody looks with his magic eye, and says it’s a boggart. The question being, what did Moody see when he identified it. Edit, way to change your comment to make me look like an idiot.
@@thorodinson9782 I know the books don’t. I know them inside and out. My question was has the theory been discussed on this channel on what Moody might have seen when he identified it.
There is one mistake in this video, I just re-read the first book and Chalie did NOT picked up Norberta, it was four of his friends. He however did appear in Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire, he was one of the wizards who took care of the dragons for the first test.
I first saw the movies when i was around 8 and honestly i never knew percy was actually a Wesley 😂 i just thought it was a friend or something took me years of watching the films to realise that he was actually blood related 😂 and never notice him with the minister mostly because he looked differently without he's hogwarts uniform
Fred Weasley was one of my favorite character. It was quite hard to read about his death for me. Edit: Thought you would mention Harry's date with Cho Chan on Valentine's day in Order of the Phoenix.
No you got that wrong about Charlie! It was Charlie's friends who retrieved Norberta, Charlie only showed up for the Battle of Hogwarts and during the Triwizard Tournament!. You even show the picture of it and mentioned it wrong lol
@@HarryPotterTheory I just subscribed to your mythology channel a few days ago, I had no idea it existed until one of your vids told me! It's just as awesome. You're an excellent narrator, very eloquent.
in the books ron say fred and gorgre took his teddy riped off the arms and legs and put spider legs on rons tedddy bear so thats y hes probaby sacrd of spietrs
Almost all of it, if I remember correctly. That made me rather mad, as Hermione in the movies was Hermionesplaining msny things to Harry and Ron - things Ron is very much aware of
@@astrisperspecto4130 it's simmering where the screenwriter fell in love with Hermione and her character and prob just went a little overboard with not understanding why Ron exists.
“Brilliant he was. Wouldn’t be here without him.” One of my most favorite things someone has said of Ron. He truly doesn’t get enough credit. Also, loved his wizards chess scene. I haven’t read the books and it doesn’t shame me I’m just not a big reader. But why would JK allow the screenwriter to strip away parts of Ron and just give to Hermione. As I understood it JK was very involved in the films.
@@codeysnow2980 actually from the credits its just based off her novels she had not creative say with the movies other than giving permission to film them, you also only have so much screentime for the movies and out of all the movies chamber of secrets is the longest but bookwise thats a toss between GOF, OOTP HBP AND DH but i could read sorcerers stone in about 4 hours and im a slow reader if anything if they added an hour to the first movie they literally coulda done a copy and paste film same with chamber of secrets it could have been a 4 and half hour movie now prioner and onward would need 2 movies.
@@TheRealSephiroth I feel like a TV show would have been better because it leave those who only watch the movies big plot holes. They would be able to go into more detail had they been a TV show.
My friends who once watched only some of the movies argued with me that there were only 4 Weasley children (Ron, "Gini" and the twins) and I, as a person who read the books, suffered internally.
@@yomommasofatthanoshadtosna3479 One of these friends forgot that they were siblings and said that she and Ron should be together because they have red hair. If it's not death, I don't know what is.
It's funny when the movie watchers want to make it like they know the series better than us book readers 😂 A friend(never read a single HP book) told me Ron was his least favourite because he was dumb and contributed nothing, and man did I really want to knock him out that day
But, even in the movies Charlie is constantly mentioned and Bill himself was in Deathly Hallows. Whoever your friends are they're not paying attention.
Knowing about #6 really puts more impact on Molly dueling Bellatrix, she already saw part of the bogart vision she dang well wasn’t gonna let it be completed with Ginny
I love the Molly's Bogart scene! We can clearly see that, for her, Harry is as loved as a son, as a true member of the family, as he is part of the shape the bogart takes! More, she sees Fred and George together! In her biggest fears, she never imagined Fred and George apart 💔😭
@@Kasha0211 uhh no, they refer to them as blood traitors because they support muggle borns and a few of their kids married half bloods, or muggle borns.
Great video! I would just like to point out, that Charlie did not retrieve Norbert, later christened Norberta, from Hogwarts in the first book. That was Charlie‘s unnamed friends who stoped on their way to visit Charlie. Charlie only appeared in 2 of the books. First in book 4 and then book 7. First at the Quidditch World Cup, then at the tri-Wizard tournament during the first task, again at Bill’s wedding, and finally during the battle of Hogwarts.
Molly's boggart is really devastating scene for me, seeing the Weasley matriarch being devastated herself by the shape-shifting boggart turning into her "dead" children Well, I also hate Percy starting from OotP
