Hi! I’m in training to be a jeweler. Please don’t put toothpaste on your jewelry!! It does not clean it and can cause damage long term. Best thing to clean jewelry is indeed a toothbrush but just a solution of dish soap and warm water. 😊

Just because it's chemical, doesn't mean it's toxic. There are chemicals that are very good for the skin like 2% salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc. And I would get rid of the make up wipes! That would clog your pores even more! Go for a cleansing oil or cleansing balm and then wash your face with a gel cleanser. Double cleansing is the way to go, Shea. Love your video, as always! Girl, these companies are racing to be less toxic, because we are on to them. They could not care less for our health, if we did not push them. But, we the people are forcing their hand. And many of us are using unrefined cold pressed oils to cleanse and moisturize to get away from toxins. and applying tomato and milk and other natural ingredients to apply natural acids to exfoliate. If these companies do not get in line, they are going to lose a lot of customers, and if they are not able to secure loans to stay in business like many do, these companies will fail. many have failed.
Please make a video on self-confidence and how not to care about what others think. You are honestly the perfect definition of what it means to be kind, graceful, strong and confident. ❤

I agree. Shea should watch Susan Yara (mixed makeup) videos because she's all about skin care. She has videos on chemical and natural skin care products that are harmful and not harmful to your skin. Pores do not "open". They are not sphincters- all you can do with hot water and steam is melt some of the oil and extrude the contents via sweat. A good reason not to pop into the shower with makeup on is only because depending on your routine, you might prefer a different cleanser on your face to soak the makeup off, to reduce the amount of scrubbing.
Piece of advice, I worked for a goldsmith if you use a brush better make sure you don’t catch a prong. Also don’t use it on your metal it will scratch it.
If your piece is completely caked with gunk. You should take it in and have it steamed. If you are just sprucing it up. You can use a mix of ammonia Dawn dish soap and hot water. Let it soak a few and it should be sparkling again.
Just a tip!! I take my wedding ring off at night and don't put it on again until I'm done with my shower, makeup, etc.. It will keep your ring (and other jewelry) clean and looking better longer.😊

I use simple coconut oil in small amounts on my face and hands. I will wipe off my palms if I need to. Sometimes I’ll put it on the ends of my hair overnight and wash it out in the morning. It’s the best moisturizer I’ve ever used under my makeup. For all over, I slather on hair conditioner on my arms, legs, shoulders, etc., and if it rinses off that’s great and if it doesn’t then that’s ok, too.
Shea!!! Great video. Makeup wipes are bad and leave more dirt and bacteria on your face. You should use an oil cleanser first and then a gentle face wash prior to the shower. It's called a double cleanse. I learned this tip from Susan Yara. She is a skin care expert w/ her own Mixed Makeup You Tube series. She changed my skincare routine for the better. 😊

Tip to avoid lotion and make sure to moisturize your body, apply body oil after you turn off the water before the towel it absorbs much faster and doesn't make you feel greasy.
I also put closed bags of coffee in the freezer and at I need them I take it out.. I never did that until the owner of a coffee company that packages and sells their coffee told me about. It has been the best thing I've done. I open the coffee and it smells so fresh and it's taste great. 👍
Coffee/coffee beans: look at the coffee video from FlavCity with Bobby Parrish . States that they should never be placed in refrig or freezer-cold forces the natural oils out of the produce, even if you wrap.

Toothpaste does indeed miracles on jewellery!!! But, a barrista told me that coffee should never be stored in the fridge, as it absorbs humidity and gets stale sooner. instead, buy fresh coffee and store it in a dry and dark place in a container.
I DO NOT want to leave a negative comment but I want to spread knowedge about the jewerly tip! I am a professional goldmsmith and I LOVE teaching people to clean their jewerly. You would not believe the dirt and funk I see under people's stuff. My concern is using your mouth toothbrush for your jewerly !! I don't want those germs in anyone's mouth! Having a seperate toothbrush in the medicine cabinet and seeing it while you brush your teeth is easy and a simple enough reminder. Please please don't mix! Im saying this with love! Storing coffee in your freezer or fridge is a big no no, coffee absorbs all of the smells of them, 5 year barista here. Do not store your coffee in the freezer/fridge. Keep it room temperature in a dark not humid place
"Toxic" ingredients -- guys, if you're in America, we have regulating bodies over cosmetics/personal care products. No, your lotions aren't full of toxic things. If they were, they wouldn't be allowed to be able to be sold in stores. A lot of those long and confusing names are either a. lab-formulated chemicals (because *everything* is a chemical, just not all are natural) which have been made in a controlled environment and tested for safety 2. preservatives to keep your lotions from going bad while they sit on store shelves or 3. natural things with longer "scientific" sounding names. If you're really worried about what you're putting on your skin, look up that specific ingredient, look up clinical research, see if your local library has access to scientific journals dealing with dermatology, where they may have published peer-reviewed studies. It's possible that some ingredients may work better than others (I personally prefer lotions without silicones in them) but that doesn't mean they're *~toxic~*. If anyone ever tries to tell you that an ingredient (or a whole group of ingredients) is bad, there should be explanation as to why. Otherwise, it's usually either a. a setup for fear-mongering marketing ("parabens are bad but my essential oils will cure the problem you didn't know you had until I invented it in no time!") or b. a well-meaning individual who does not know they've been taken in by fear-mongering marketing. Just be skeptical and check your sources.
I would be a little hesitant to use the toothbrush on my ring only because I would think that the metal would get scratched. Thanks for the T-shirt trick though, so cool ❤️
I love these types of videos! Thanks for all the tips- never thought of the toothbrush jewelry one and honestly our phones are crazy dirty from our hands, face, any surface we put it on but I doubt people think about it but maybe every now and then. The backlash is kindof crazy.... if you think that's gross then use a separate toothbrush (that's what I'll prob do)- idk just doesnt seem like that should be the only thing you take away from a 8 min video. I took it as take 20sec out of your day and use a toothbrush to spruce up your jewelry (a separate brush or the same one). Cute earrings and shirt too!
I've been using an old soft bristle toothbrush and Crest toothpaste (works the best!) to clean gold and silver jewelry for 30 years. Just make sure that if your cleaning jewelry with stones, that the settings are secure. Also, do not use this method on pearls, turquoise, coral, opals.
I do use a toothbrush and toothpaste to gentle clean my rings and yes they are Sparkling. But I used a small travel set, not the one I used on my teeth. I also cleaned my diamond earring and the charm on my necklace.
I actually use an old toothbrush of mine to clean my jewelry I would be grossed out to use my actual toothbrush to clean my jewelry and then put that same toothbrush back in my mouth lol. I believe you DO use the same toothbrush as your mouth/jewelry. The ingredients in the toothpaste helps to remove the gunk. Just rinse your brush well afterwards.
Yes ! Great hack using toothbrush and toothpaste for all jewelry cleaning… also blow dry with hairdryer for a streak free shine !! And by the way yes, I noticed your ring...I noticed it from across the street!!! Nice work woman!!

I have an old toothbrush that I wet, spray a spray or two of Windex and a drop of dawn. Makes the diamonds sparkle like no one’s business! One of the ladies at my jeweler told me they use Ammonia to clean jewelry and there’s ammonia in windex.

Makeup wipes are a HUGE NO NO, period. All the wiping is just mixing and pushing your makeup into your skin. So basically doing the same as if you kept it on and got in the shower. Using a cleansing balm that breaks up the makeup first and then a gentle cleanser. 👍🏼 And not all chemicals are bad for your skin either. But I get your overall point.
Thank you, Shea. I agree with most of what you say, however. I do not think ground coffee beans should be stored in the refrigerator. Check on that some more. Freezer is OK, Fridge is not. I am going to disagree a bit on the body lotion. Products like Amlactin with Alpha Hydroxy and Ceramides as well as CeraVe SA Lotion with ceramides, salicylic acid and vitamin D have been recommended by dermatologist and they both have a long list of ingredients. Use one for crepey skin and the other for the red bumps on the back of your upper arms. And about the tooth paste thing. I wouldn't put that toothbrush back in my mouth at all. I have a jar of jewelry cleaner that I have handy which I plunk my jewels in regularly. Cool trick with the tee shirt.
all i use on my skin is sweet almond oil with lavender essential oil. you can add anything, but it makes my skin lovely and soft and supple. Its cheap to :-)
