Thank you so much for sharing Claire!! I've had to propagate my FDF at least three times due to legginess!! But two of them are growing leaves only on one side of the stems so they look like fanning fans lol!! I'm happy to know I can notch them!!❤🥰🙏

I'm rather frustrated. My FLF was a Mother's Day gift 2.5 years ago and it's now almost 4 feet tall. It is all one stem tho. I watched your notching videos and notched it once. Nothing. I renotched it thinking I didn't notch it enough, in the same place and also notched it higher up. Nothing. It's been a couple of months now. I saw your vid on cloning and decided to lob the top three leaves off as notching was doing nothing. This piece rooted beautifully and it's now potted and happy. My original is still one stem and doing not so much. Am I doing something wrong with the notching?

Great question! Notching works around 50% of the time and the injury to the trunk needs to be deep enough to disrupt the flow of the dormant leaf buds. I would continue to try or once your plant gets to the height you would like the main stem to be at, prune the top and branches will grow just below where you make the cut. Happy Growing!
