the reason youre getting water in your trunk is not from that seal, its from the taillight seal. ive owned 2 rsx’s and worked at the acura dealership and had this problem with a large amount of rsx’s.
It's just crazy I have around 320,000 still going strong it drives and feels the same as when I had 130,000mile just insane what a perfect experience truly
@@christopherk2020 looking at base 06 model tomorrow 1 owner 180k miles no damages or issues apparently for $5k. My concern was the miles so I’m glad to be hearing this
Coda5610 when I bought the car they told me it’s from s2000 but your the 2nd person told me that it’s from EP3 steering wheel so I guess it is. Thanks man!
Ive had my 03 type s for 12 years it has 150k on it. the only issues Ive had are: 3rd gear pop out door actuators K-20s do burn oil so don't be alarmed. both window clips will give out at some point seems only to really affect 02-03. The most impressive thing to me is the Ac still blows ice cold and Ive never recharged it.
lol You're lucky! Car came with the puddle in trunk issue, you just sponge it up every time it rains, not that bad of an issue. Bought my 04 type S in June 2019, since here's my list: August: rod knock (swapped to 122k mile engine) September: A/C and Heat died, just replaced on my own ~$80, 20 min install November: Rear wiper motor dead December: Fuel lines started to disconnect This car has had 2 oil changes since June. It was pretty alarming, but just to be safe, change it every 3500-3800. I run full synthetic.
I've had my 03 base for 8 years now The first thing that went was the ac. Might have been some road debris because I heard a loud clank when it died, and killed my power steering reservoir too. Then the clutch at year 3. (I learned on that clutch, and taught my ex and 2 friends on it) Year 5 was the radiator Year 6 was knock sensor, 02s and cat. Year 8(current) was mounts, now is control arms and engine fatigue, ( creeping up on 208k) after an extensive tune up and tranny check( it's fine but just to be on the safe side) she will be running back up to speed. Love my DC5. I'll keep it til the body gets totaled. (It's my first car) lol
The commons trust me I own a rsx you will encounter this 1.Power steering pressure line leak 2.taillight water leak as he explained 3.wiring issues depending who you bought it from and his/her history with the car 4.starter tends to go out so listen well 5.ALL DOORS actuator will go out soon passenger side has the biggest problem of all 6.RSX AC CANNOT beat hot days good luck 7.2nd and 3rd gear issues depending on how YOU drive And not much more don’t be a ricer and don’t get a spoiler on a FWD it will just slow you down LOVE THE RSX ITS GONNA BE THE BEST RIDE you will ever get trust me I’m 355k in I’m still burning great
When I sold my 03 type S I was pretty sad. I dropped like 10 grand into that car. Repainted and everything, it was flawless. Just had to move on to newer & reliable car.
Keep the seats just keep them conditioned! That will prevent cracking . I in my personal opinion think that setup is.just fine and definitely clean the way it is! Again my opinion
You forgot a couple things... Tail light gaskets leaks, and some have trouble with clutch master cylinder failing. The tail light problems can be found by, water inside the tail lights, or spare tire well, and clutch master cylinder can be found by, leaks or wet spot under the dash where the clutch pedal goes into the firewall.
I have over 300k miles on my type Slow with so many original parts and I canyon my rsx weekly. I drive one of the best roads in California, hwy 33 rain or shine. Original: cam chain, brakes rotors, oil and fuel pump, coil packs, shocks, clutch, starter, never had the valves adjusted, and passes smog within a few minutes. Bought new, got my money's worth. Never left me stranded.
Had powersteering pump gone out and hose and rack at the same time so went aftermarket am 50 thousand away from hitting 300000 miles original engine and transmission i just got very lucky. And water on trunk yes its seals on tail lights. I put 02 style rear bumper and lights and put thick seal and water seal on lights when did convertion
For the 3rd gear i had that pop out problem but it was cuz it was notchy and occasionally didnt put it in all the way. Put redline mt90 about 10k miles ago. No more notch. My climate control motor module thing that moves the latch on the heater core hose broke lol. I say blue brides if you really want them. Would be a cool little color combo. But black would look clean as well.
@@714integra I bought it from a local store called Bap Geon. If you dont have one try Napa or XL Auto parts. If not then probably online. The bottle says MT-90. Its (75-90) I wanted to try a thicker one. It seems too thin. But did the job. It should work since i heard people around here using it to fix minor grinding issues with kseries. Keep in mind thoe it takes a couple days for the fluid to "break-in"
I just got a 2002 RSX type S and I didn’t have any problems. I mean it is old and I’ll have to do things to it to keep up the maintenance on it but other then that the first owner loved this car and I do as well.
Just got into a highspeed crash in my friends rsx he had the SRS light on as well but the airbags still deployed!! Definitely saved us some facial reconstruction.
The biggest issue in south Florida when buying a rsx is that majority of them got wrecked i own a clean title base I bought 4 years ago looks good until I remove all interior panels just to find out that the passenger quarter panel was cut n welded poorly n no that damage wasn’t reported, id say make sure to check the factory seams make sure they are not tampered with
I am looking to buy an RSX base. I found one with low mileage, but is asking 7500 for it. I am not sure if that's a good deal or if I should be concerned about it. He took pictures of the undercarriage, engine, and interior for me, but I still need to know what to do next.
@@ulyssesrolle4637 how can I do that? I get what other RSX owners are saying, not to say they're wrong. I am just wondering how can I negotiate with him? This is the only RSX in my area with low mileage and looks mint. What can I do?
K20z1 Gears and reverse pops or grinds Power steering pump or hose Weather seal around doors and trunk* Rips and tears on seats A/C Sunroof switch Mirror motors switch and heater
I just got one again for a deal. A 03 base, but it’s still good. Where I’m from not alot that are still running. I Love this car, since the day I bought it new back in 06. Back to owning a dc5 😊
“White interior” My dude it is earth tone tan brown. Yes rsx owners are wack, yall only like the black interior 💀. The brown ish one is fantastic and hides dirt better
A big reason the car pops out of 3rd and 5th is because people keep there hand on the shifter after shifting because of no arm rest so after shifting put your hand on the e-brake
Darren Burrow I see thanks for letting me know! I actually fixed the 3rd gear pop out problem by a doing transmission flush and putting Redline MT-90 (thicker transmission fluid). Lots of other RSX owners told me to do that and that would fix the problem. Since I did that never had a 3rd gear pop out issue again!
@@jdmdennis9763 right on good to know. .like I said I just picked mine up around Xmas and it's an 04 it only has 71k two owner car it needs a clutch but that's pretty much it but I definitely noticed it popping out of 3rd but taking my hand off the gear shift seemed to do the trick. But once I get a new clutch installed I'll be sure they add that stuff you mentioned
Darren Burrow dude congrats man! WOW71k miles 😲 and yea man that Redline MT-90 works great! I made a video on it about 4,5 months ago, if you scroll threw my videos you should find it! 🤠 but other then that congrats and thanks for the support!
@@jdmdennis9763 Got another question for you. .do you have a stock exhaust or what did you go with if it's not stock . I don't like the real rattling loud coffee can as I call it. .I prefer the deep low grumble sounding ones. Any suggestions
Darren Burrow then you would love the Spoon N1 exhaust. That’s what I got on my car. Every time I down shift it make popping noise and it’s great! When it’s idling, sound is deep! The loudest exhaust for the RSX I would say are Invidia exhaust and J’s racing exhaust.
redalert206 I feel you! Price been going up for these cars 😩. Thanks for the support by the way! Once you get yours, you should come to our monthly RSX meet & cruise! More info on Instagram @pnwrsxclub
draksonz33 imo too many miles for a rsx that’s only a base model ( the base model being slow compared to the type s) but ig it all depends on what you want to do w the car and what you’re looking for
If it’s a Type S, then yes. But base model I’m a Little bit frayed to say yes. K20 engine overall it’s a great long lasting engine, but not the transmission
Thanks for the replies guys i will problably get full bolt ons for the car and then tune maybe in the future go on boost but for now as a daily im on a budget so its gonna be a bit hard to find a good one.
You mentioned water in the wheel well, also a problem there is that gaskets on the tail lights when the water comes down to hatch back it goes behind the tail lights and behind the bumper and away from the car that's how the hatchback drained, well sometimes the gaskets around the rear tail lights start leaking and fill the wheel well full of water.
The only issue on my clean, '02 base, 5-speed is rust under the rubber on the sunroof frame. It can be replaced but its not easy to find a clean one in the rust belt of USA
I had one and it was stolen and crashed 😭😭 i was devastated. It had frame damage very severe to where i kept having to have the wheel bearings replaced, and it had a very bad power steering leak. Working in automotive i think sealing those honda power steering units was a wise idea cause ive never seen one of those honda power steering reservoirs from that era that WASNT leaking. The transmission performed beautifully and the engine had almost no leaks on mine, i miss it like my heart breaks. Love these caes so much!
I also have an RSX Type S 2005 with the same Acura TL wheels lol. Picked up a TL type S 4piston brembo brake kit for the front and did the Kraftwerk supercharger kit. Makes 310 wheel horsepower at 10 psi. I have all the other supporting mods including my clutch, full fuel system, Hondata V4, PLM Race headers and HKS high power exhaust. The only thing it needs now is a limited slip differential and it will be perfect
Hey man great content but I have a question I live in Seattle WA and I’m looking to purchase and Acura rsx. I was wondering about how much insurance is for these and if I should try buying this Acura rsx type S for 3200 w 150k miles. It has a few cosmetic things wrong but yea. If all goes right should I try and purchase ?
A1does insurance wise it’s pretty high for me because I’m still 21, but yea! 3200 with 150k sounds about right price. I will ask 2900 first if I’m you.
