Crochet Hacks And Tips
A yarn bowl will solve your tangled yarn problem. There is nothing worse than trying to untangle your yarn in the middle of a project. How about how annoyed you get when your ball of yarn rolls across the floor collecting lint and hair?
You may think yarn bowls are an unnecessary cost, but you'd be wrong. Most of the materials you already have in your home.
Wait until you experience using a yarn bowl that you made yourself. This will totally change your perspective. You just might thank me later!
These DIY yarn bowl makes crocheting & knitting more efficient. You encounter fewer challenges so you can actually enjoy doing what you love.

Love it! The sock tip was my favorite! My hack is when working with a yarn cake that's the not spin together type, but just 4 separate strands, thread a bead on it before starting and working this way so the yarn pulls throu the bead, this way you make sure all 4 threads stay together and there's less splitting.

The idea about using a knitting needle in the basket is genius! I've seen so many tips that have you thread your yarn directly through a hole in something, but I want to be able to remove it from the holder without cutting it. This or the paper towel roll holder hack (which I'd thought of but wasn't sure would work) will be the perfect solution for me. Thank you!

I work in a hospital/nursing home kitchen. When I need one, I just ask the girls to save me a gallon jug (like from mayo or salad dressing and drill a hole in the lid. A great yarn holder and the lid helps keep dirt out. Of course with skeins getting bigger, I now have to find larger jugs - lqol.

I use a salad serving bowl for my yarn. It has room for several balls of yarn and is cheap and easy to find at a rummage sale or second hand store. I also leave the tiny ends of balls (with the tail sewn through a few times) on the floor for my kitty to play with. She doesn't bother the yarn I'm using as much. I think it's because the smaller balls roll around easier.

These are great!! My tip. I struggled to get yarn through a darning needle to sew in ends. I cut a small piece off of the yarn label. Small enough to fit through the eye. Fold it in 1/2 and put the yarn in it to thread the yarn through the eye. Does that make sense?? Haha

the sock tip is great!!! And one can never have enough yarn bowls! If I am working with multiple colors, I tend to just put each skein in a grocery bag with the yarn coming out of one of the handle loops, then I loosely tie the bag. Then I am slowly yanking up yarn and the bags are usually rustling around on the floor. it isn't pretty, but it works!
