I'm amazed at how much I am like you. Although I'm retired in my 60s, I love all things fashion and makeup. I still sit cross legged ony couch, but I do have my power outfits lined up when I need them. I'm 5'0" as well. My anxiety is still hounding me although I have much less problems and pressures since I'm retired. I love your channel. Thank you for all your helpful tips.
Cindy I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sits like this lol! 😂. Anxiety is a terrible thing isn’t it? I’ve learned to work through it but rest assured it’s an effort. Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️
Nice job with this video. This is a much needed topic for petites. The world is towering over us and people (probably unknowingly) use their height as an intimidation or leverage on us. I definitely need to work on my self confidence. Thank you for mentioning nurturing our souls. Times of quietness before God and listening to meditations is a wonderful way to flood our mind with peace.
What a wonderful video to come across!! (I’ve liked and subscribed! 🥰). Although I don’t deal with anxiety I found your suggestions so on point! I need to remind myself to stand a little taller! Thank you!! Can’t wait to watch more! 4’11”….and though she be but little, she is fierce!!
Good morning, Lori! As a career advisor I can endorse every suggestion you shared! Two points that I think are particularly important are to find someone that you admire for their speaking skills and model yourself after them. Also, read books on great orators and practice, practice, practice! Point two would be to know what your "power" outfit might be. I have a favorite outfit that I call my "interview suit" and wear it for interviews as well as for public speaking events. I feel comfortable in it, I look professional, and it makes me feel even more confident when I'm not fussing with what I'm wearing. You shared some great tips and I'm saving these to share with others!
I completely about the importance of posture. It was pointed out to me by my favorite aunt when I was just 18 yo. She saw me getting ready for an important event wearing a new-to-me style of a red body con halter dress. She said if I wasn’t going to wear with confidence she wasn’t letting me leave the house! She gave me some tips I’ve never forgotten and they transferred to everything I wore. ❤
I enjoyed your video immensely. I discovered your channel a few days ago as I was searching for answers to my new situations. I am age 72 and short I changed my diet in January and have lost weight, my shape has changed, I would like clothes, fashion, accessories, jewellery for the new person in the mirror and you have helped in lots of tips and suggestions...thank you Lori
Lori, I am 4ft 11 and tired of defending myself. The mother of full term twins. Now retired, still fit, confident.Apparently this only applies to tall people.
First, I have to say that you look GREAT, Lori!!! You are slim, trim and beautiful! All of your advice is correct and most of these things used to be taught to girls back in the 1950's and '60's which is when I was growing up. Keep up the stellar work because it's working!!❤🤗😊
Lori, anxiety is something most of the people in our lives would never guess how debilitating it is for us. Having suffered from anxiety since my preteens I have learned to hide mine and use humor to appear carefree and confident. Every point you mentioned is me from public speaking, posture, confidence… What an amazing video! It will help so many! Thank you sweet friend!💗
That is so true Linda, if you’ve never experienced it then it’s hard to understand just how crippling it can be. Yes humor is something I default to as well lol. Thanks for sharing Linda, definitely helps to know we aren’t alone in it. ❤️💕❤️
Yes great info. Girl, I LOL when I saw you setting in your chair cross legged.....I heard my MAMA in my head "Barbara Jean what did you think you are doing....SIT up straight and knees together, feet on the floor!" Yes, I'm a beast (but a nice beast) in RED, especially a red lip! I miss being able to wear heels these days.
lol 😂 😂😂. It’s a terrible habit the way I sit!! lol. Girl I bet you are fierce in red!! I wish I could wear red lipstick but it makes me look like a corpse 😳
Hi Lori: oh my gosh, I have been away for a while and you have lost so much weight! Well done you! You look great! I started watching you as we were similar height and weight so I could actually visualize how I might look in various outfits. Now you have inspired/ motivated me to take action as I can see how I could potentially look with less weight! ( you looked great before as well btw!)
Oh my gosh you are so kind, thank you! I have so many sizes in my closet I have lost track! I’m glad you are back, I hope all is well with you. Thank you for watching ❤️💕❤️
Great video. Thank you. I work in a very casual and very small law firm. Despite the casual atmosphere, I try to dress appropriately. I find that you get more respect when you look capable. I'm still much too casual for a formal office but, I don't look like I'm heading to river to go kayaking either.
Hi Lori! Thanks for sharing your great suggestions. Does your chair have adjustments for seat depth and height? When I saw you sitting in your office chair, I wondered if the seat was too deep for you. I am your height and many chairs have seats that are too deep for me or don’t adjust sufficiently to allow my feet to touch flat on the ground. When I rest my back for support against the seat back the seat presses against the back of my knees. Sometimes I end up perching on the seat edge. The chair adjustments help customize the chair to fit me better.
Funny you mention this because that’s the first thing I noticed when I looked back at the video lol. It probably does adjust but never took the time to do it since we went back to the office last year. I’m going to look on Monday!
Very sorry to hear about the anxiety. I can relate. My path through life and work is different from yours, but I definitely agree about finding colours which support whatever you’re trying to do. I’ve also been inspired by confident introverts, ie people who are quiet and need time alone, but when they do speak, they really know their topic and are insightful. So that’s attainable for me… sometimes 🤭
Just subscribed. I enjoyed your informative video. I would like to be more confident in my communication with family and friends. People seem to cut me off before I finish my sentence. I think what I have to say gets them thinking and they jump in and talk. To be more confident what do you suggest in this situation? Thank you.
Hi Debbie, welcome!! I’m not an expert but I think that you politely tell them that you are very interested in their response but that you would like to finish your thoughts before they respond. ❤️
Try getting your empowerment from God, thru reading the Bible and meditating on the Scriptures or listening to great video sermons on RU-vid by Joyce Meyer, Joseph Prince, David Jeremiah, to name a few. And PRAY; always be grateful. Don't complain.
