I freaking love you and need you to know that I’ve been struggling with direction as a multi-business owner but you have helped to reignite my love for teaching
I'm a new teacher and your videos have been SO helpful! I have two classes listed right now. A one time class for teens 14-18 called X-Men Escape Room: Genetics & Inheritance and a multi day oral french class for kids 7-12 called Speak French With Carmen Sandiego!
Hi, I love your energy! I am super new to Out School. My class is titled, “ Fartology with Poop and a little Pee: Learning about our Digestive System.” I am going to check out your class. Thanks!
Hi Laney! Great video! These were awesome tips. Thank you. I just added my second class on Outschool. One on self-love and building confidence for young girls. The other class is the first in a series with word families classes. The -ack word family is now listed! Yayyy 😊. I'm a new subbie!
Awesome information! I live in the mountains of N. Georgia and see bear quite often. It was the inspiration for my first class....Black Bears, Brown Bears, Oh My! geared for 9-12. I took your advice and did all the research, which was quite fun. I made the class into a game where they learn the similarities and differences between them. Thanks for all you tips!
Thank you! I teach hula hooping classes. I just signed on with Outschool. I haven't had a booking yet. But hope that will happen soon! I plan also to dive into teaching health classes in the future as well.
Hey Laney, awesome content! I’m a VK/Outschool teacher as well, along with lots of other companies haha. Outschool is such a fun company! I have lots of different types of classes, but yeah I’m finding I try to list classes that aren’t getting approved because of not having that expertise, though I’m an avid researcher haha. They don’t know this though 😂. Canva is the best! Great tips all around!
Hello fellow educators!!! I absolutely love your energy!! All your videos are so helpful! I just started with Outschool. I haven’t had any learners enrolled yet. I’m teaching 4-5 yr olds letter recognition and phonics. “Learning letters in your name”. Maybe the title isn’t creative enough ?
I love the idea of relating it back to their names and making it personal! I’m happy to take a look at everything overall if you need me to! You can always send me and email or a DM on Instagram!
I love to watch you! I’m currently a new outschool teacher and I have a a few classes I’ve posted but no luck :( I teach a superhero my body parts class, and I will message you on Facebook:)
Thanks for the awesome insight! I just started this week and taught my first class. I have three classes listed right now but the one that got booked is called "All That Jazz - Theatre Jazz for 12-18's!" I would love to connect with you and get your feedback! Thanks so much 🙏
Laney I love what you’re doing here! I’ve been with Outschool for 3 years and it’s only grown and done better every year. I teach photography but am thinking about branching out to something else as well because I feel like I can only get so far with photography. I’d love your thoughts! Thanks!
Thanks for the tips! I've seen other teachers put their pictures in the class thumbnails. What do you use to do that? Also I have an on-going class called The Word Club for 10-13 year olds. It's a discussion based class where we look at a new word each week.
Great video! I am thinking of starting a weekly learning series about many topics for young kids. It will be “Learn With Grandpa Jerry.” Courses I’m thinking about: Grandpa Jerry Teaches How to Study Spelling; Grandpa Jerry Learns About Goats at the Farm; Grandpa Jerry Gets Ready For School; Grandpa Jerry Learns About Manners; Any thoughts?
I love all your tips. Thank you! I follow up with each student after every class thanking them for taking my class. I message on the student part, but, should I be sending a message to the parent instead, or both?
what is your opinion on asking parents to review your class once it is over? Or should you just leave it up to them. If they give good feedback to you privately could you ask them to leave a review? what is the protocol on that?
I say a big NO 🙅🏻♀️ I am part of an Outschool Parent Facebook group and someone posted about this last week. There were over 300 replies and it was pretty unanimous that parents don’t like this. Outschool will follow up twice for reviews from the parents so to get asked by the teachers as well is a lot (speaking as an OS Parent).
Do you put a logo/your brand on your own printables? I applied to Outschool a few ago and have been teaching with VIPKID for almost 3 years. Thank you for your great videos!
Hi Laney, Thanks for the tips! I'm a new teacher, I've been on Outschool a month or so, teaching phonics and early reading. I've got 3 x 5star reviews and I've got 1 private student for a 16 lesson course which is great. However, I'm still cancelling courses all of the time due to low enrolment, and I don't believe I'm opening too many slots. I'm in the UK so maybe my time zone doesn't help. I put my classes on the discount Facebook pages but that doesn't seem to be working. I love your idea of putting your photo on every image, I'm not sure how to do that? Do you have any further advise? Thank you.
Yay!! I'm so glad to hear that good news and that my content has been able to help you in the process! I would take a look at your classes as well as other classes that are teaching Phonics. There are multiple teachers who teach Phonics on Outschool, therefore you have to make sure you stand out from the others! Brainstorm ideas and try implementing them into your class until you find the ones that work!! The link below will take you to my RU-vid video that will show you how to put your photo on your images! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MypEl7QImDU.html
@@LaneyGoff Thank you, I've watched your video and will get on to getting Canva :-) I realise there are a lot of phonics teachers, which is hard as that's my thing, I'll have a look at ways I can stand out. Another video I watched said that having ongoing classes is a good way to retain students, but phonics is really a course, so I'll try to find a way around that. Thanks again.
