I often feel overwhelmed by all the material that I have got at home and all the ideas I get when watching my favorite You Tube channels (and on the other hand, which I also forget really quick). So now I have a little notebook in which I collect all the ideas I suddenly get. And when I have time left and feel the urge to create something, I will grab my inspiration booklet!
Wow, your journal is amazing!! Beautiful... maybe in a hundred years someone will be tearing your work apart to make their own journals!!! I hate thinking that, LOL....I doubt Edith ever thought about that! Thanks for sharing all your great tips... I'm a very clumsy watercolor tryer outter!!... but, your tips are helping to encourage me to do more. Love your videos.
Thanks so much! If my journal till exists in a 100 years then I guess it’s fair game for junk journaling 😅 I really hope you are able to nature journal yourself…thanks again for watching! 😊🌸
I want to thank you for this presentation. I have been painting for many years. I love watercolor and other media and I can draw well. My biggest problem is I can be all over the place with my work. I decided recently to try to start an art journal so I have a goal. I have been searching for ways to get started because I like so many different topics. Sometimes I feel like I’m just wasting paper. Your tips are so helpful. I like guidelines to keep me focused. I ‘m sure having goals is such a helpful way to stay on my practice. I look forward to watching your channel.🩷
So glad if anything helps! I’m always trying to find ways to motivate myself for different things including art! I think guidelines can sometimes take away that feeling of being overwhelmed. Also, there’s no wasted art IMHO because it’s how we learn and how we express ourselves! I’m sure you will be inspired by your own art to keep creating beautiful works! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🌸
Started a nature journal after watching your videos. Would like to know what product you are using. How you decide your layouts too. You have a Lovely soft speaking voice which is very nice to listen to.😊
Love your videos and all things nature. My husband and I are setting up our yard to be an edible landscape and will be keeping a journal of our progress including watercolor art in it. And it’s because of watching your videos that we got the idea, so thank you so much!
Thanks so much! I love the edible landscape AND journaling it too! What a great idea😊 So thankful that you have been inspired to create in multiple ways…Thanks for your kind words ❤️
Your tips are very encouraging and have ironed out my thoughts. Thank you very much for sharing them! Your voice has a soothing, relaxing quality too. I love your layouts. 🌻🌺🌼
Your videos are visually so calming with the tea, flower & rock decor, dip pen! I'm inspired to plan my layout with ruled lines for text and experiment with zoom in circles or squares. Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thanks so much and so glad you enjoy the videos…experimenting with the layouts makes journaling a creative experience. Thanks for watching and commenting! ☺️
Thanks so much! I look at a LOT of sketchbooks online on YT and more recently Pinterest. It’s a great way to feel motivated and to try maybe one thing I see that I like,,,so many beautiful artists out there 😊 Thanks again for watching!
What a great first page! I’m going to start with “Spring in Georgia”. Lots of pollen on the way! Thanks SO much for your inspiration! Your channel is great! 🙏🏻👍🖌🎨🍂
Helpful advice. Like the idea of setting a year deadline, it really helps motivation. You’ve encouraged me to have a go. How many pages do you complete per week in general? You deserve more subscribers!
This book is used for You Tube so I generally did 2 entries a month. I went over my year deadline on my last journal by a few months. I actually started this channel to keep me motivated to journal. I have other Nature diaries that I also journal in so maybe one spread a week? Thanks so much for commenting and watching 😊
That’s a great question! Depending on what’s around you…a local park, trees in the neighborhood, any plants growing in a lawn,,,I’ve even journaled tiny weeds in a mowed park. Collecting leaves, algae, bark. Or if you live by water anywhere… water plants, stones, even shells. Birds, try pixabay and unsplash for copyright free photos to draw from. You can sketch local birds that way. Reference photos online or in books will also work if you have nothing available…I often draw from whatever I see around me as I love the idea of learning as much as I can about them. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching 😊🌼
you've covered some really interesting points here! I've used the strathmore mixed media sketchbook and I wonder if you have, how does it compare to the watercolour one? i'm curious 🤔
I never have used it but have looked at them and the mixed media paper is lighter. Since I mostly use watercolor, I have found this paper better at holding more water. It’s definitely not as nice as Arches but much more affordable. I think mixed media would be fine for light washes of watercolor….this paper just gives me more options! Thanks for watching 😊❤️
Hi and so excited for you on your art journaling! I have a video on the Basics of starting a Nature Journal which can help with the materials and supplies needed. (Whether it’s an art journal or nature journal) My biggest advice would be to start with just a few quality art supplies. Also, you can practice drawing your subject on a separate piece of paper, and then transfer that image or trace it into your art journal. Use this like a coloring page to paint with watercolors. Keep everything simple to build up confidence! I have lots of examples in my videos as well…the main thing to do is to get started and ENJOY the process!! Hope this helps! 😊😊😊
My journal is easy to write in before I watercolor. Not too bad to write if I only put down a wash of watercolor. It’s cold press but if you buy more expensive cotton paper then you could try a hot press journal which has smoother paper🌼
I actually found these at Walmart but I also use the inexpensive binder clips that you can find at any office supply store. You should also be able to find them online😊
