Oh wow! That would be amazing! Great idea! You could even do sauteed onions and peppers, Seasonings, etc. That's something I never thought of. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.🥰
Seven winners, especially those rolls. Nothing better than homemade yeast bread. Thanks, girl!!! My Mom, God rest her sweet soul, made the best Cranberry Sauce and yeast rolls. Sure miss her!
Hey Kathy! Yes, we LOVE yeast rolls! That is so special about your mom. I love how food and recipes remind us of loved ones. I'm sharing a chocolate pie soon that was a recipe of my husbands mom. She's passed, but she loved to cook and my husband loved her chocolate pie. My husband was a mommas boy, So he can totally relate to you on missing your mom. 😢 Make sure you have you some yeast rolls and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving!❤️ I hope you have a wonderful day!🥰
Wish I had somewhere to go for the holidays. I'm stuck with the people I have to live with, and they only do the most basic turkey, mashed potatoes, and Stove Top stuffing. That's it. They refuse to season things with anything other than salt and pepper. No other flavorings. I'm not allowed to change anything or make anything new, unless it's just for me. Not only do I want to be able to cook something I like for someone I love (lord knows it isn't them, as they're extremely toxic), but it would be nice to try other foods and spend the day with someone who made me feel loved. If you all out there get to spend the holidays with those you love, cherish it. Not all of us are as lucky. I could deal with crappy food if I had that.
I hope you are able to find your own peace and joy for the holiday... perhaps listen to some special holiday music in your room or watch holiday movies.... ❤
I feel for you I hear you. I'll pray for you. My holidays no matter salt ?? I don't celebrate anymore. My baby brother passed of cancer in 2014. My angel Kimberly took her last breath nov2 2018. I have no other siblings. How I miss them. My daughter made us dinner many holidays. Rest in Peace.
@@BurkeKellyI'm so sorry for your loss. You know the true meaning of loneliness at the holidays. I pray you have comfort and peace this Thanksgiving and Christmas. May you experience the joy you once knew. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and God bless. ❤🙏
Thanks so much for the recipes. I have tried other versions of broccoli casserole but your recipe is different & 1 I have never heard of or tried. It looks delicious! Yes I put eggs in my macaroni & cheese too. I think you are right it is a Southern thing. I grew up in the South but now live in Washington state. People around here don’t put eggs in their Mac & cheese.
I stumbles upon you and I’m sure happy I did!!! I am hosting whole meal and making Mac n cheese. I am going to try yours this year to shake things up! It looks so good!!!😮❤
Thank you for helping us appreciate our loved ones… I don’t ever want to take that for granted. Our family wishes you a very happy Thanksgiving in then best way possible! Know someone is thinking of you. ❤❤❤
Other than being obese eating this kind of food, and having a heart attack or stroke, I am sure they taste yummy. Would I eat them? Oh heck no, except for the cranberry sauce which I do make.
I dont add eggs in my mac & cheese. Its my personal preference. I went to a pot luck dinner and the eggs in the mac & cheese cuddled in the dish. Glumpy eggs ! In the mac and cheese. Not appealing. Maybe the cook needed to beat the eggs to a smoother consistency. Because Im sure i have eaten mac and cheese with eggs in it before with no problems. Youre recipe for Mac and cheese is absolutely yummy !
Buy some yummy sides , or make your own, bring them in your room and watch “It’s a wonderful life” with Jimmy Stuart.. he found out something amazing in this movie!! Even if you’ve seen it like all of us, watch it again! Then maybe go outside and take a long slow walk! And if you pray to Christ to help you, He will!!!! We will pray for you!!🕊️
I made this Mac and cheese and the crowd went wild! It was the number one favorite at Thanksgiving. So good I needed to make it again. Tonight I made it and added some fresh diced tomatoes, my wife loved it!
Love the way you prepped your Daddy's Mac n cheese. My oh my it looked good and easy to do! I love cranberry sauce, going to try the homemade recipe you did. All the recipes I've tried from your videos have been a success!
Made the Mac and cheese recipe and it was absolutely delicious thank you and your daddy for sharing. Only thing I think I did something wrong because mine curdled 😅😅 we still ate it all tho 😊
I love love love your recipes, but out of curiosity, how many 9x13 casserole dishes do you have!?!! I've heard that to be a Baptist, you had to have a good collection of them!!!
My family, and I of course, Love the potato casserole. I've made it with the cubed potatoes too, but you had said any casserole is better with crackers etc..., We have always crushed corn flakes, generic just fine. and mixed with real butter then top the casserole before baking, OhMygosh, it's almost the best part of the potato casserole. I also love using the shredded potatoes, i just never use the one with the peppers. I look forward to watching your show. I have terminal Cancer and I'm not afraid, actually I'm looking for new recipes to add to our gatherings. Thank you Valerie for sharing.
Hello from California...love all accents and yours is lovely. The squash casserole was my favorite. My sister got me started topping with cornflakes. Blessing to you and your channel.
I made the mac & cheese and the milk curdled in it... had little white lumps when taken out of the oven after the top was golden brown. Also used a lot of cheese, as she did. The oven temp was correct, 375. And used carnation evaporated milk good till late 2024. Filled it as she said to about 2/3 fill with the milk. Any one else experience this or have suggestions? ... and one more!... all of that did Not fit in my standard 9x13 dish! Had to get another small dish to put some of it in.
It was so funny finding this video because my daughter just moved from Conway SC to Utah, they asked her what we usually have for holidays. She started telling them and of course they wanted to know how to make some of these exact recipes we use. They the. Told her that is too much cheese and butter. She told them at home we go through 10+ boxes of butter cooking and making desserts for holidays. When my husband was diagnosed with diabetes and cholesterol problems the dietitians said, no pasta, no cheese, no butter or greasy foods, etc. I stopped them and asked what I was supposed to cook if I couldn’t use pasta, cheese, or butter and bacon grease. The one recipe you made with corn I’ve never made like that we make the corn pudding with jiffy cornbread mix. We literally have all the other recipes along with more stuff.
Make the hash brown casserole using the square hash browns with green/red peppers and onions. Very tasty! Thank you for all your great recipes. I appreciate you sharing.
I love your videos. I watch all the time but this is my first comment. I tried your dad’s Mac and cheese. It was so good. Been wanting to make it but my husband doesn’t like it so when my daughter visited today I decided to make it for us. We loved it. Thanks for all your easy recipes
Just an fyi to anyone following the written directions for the dinner rolls in the link below...they differ a little than what is demonstrated in the video. Written recipe instructs you to whisk the flour, sugar, yeast and salt together in mixer bowl, mix the butter and milk together in separate bowl, then add the wet to the dry. The instructions also instruct you to let the rolls rise in a warm oven. I went ahead and followed the written instructions to see how they would turn out, and I thought they were just fine. 😅 Next time I will follow the video instructions. Valerie's rolls looked delish!
I have a question concerning using yeast. I avoid recipes that call for yeast. Any pointers on how to put on my big girl pants and get with the program and jump right in
Each one of those dishes looked yummy! Your Mac and cheese is just like my mom’s. I prefer it to recipes that have you make a cheese sauce. I’ve never seen a broccoli casserole quite like yours, so I look forward to trying it! Thanks so much, Valerie…😊
Haven't had squash casserole in a long time, I can hardly wait. Thanksgiving is the best time for all these great dishes. Thank you for sharing all these wonderful ideas. God bless you and your family.
Oh my that squash casserole looks delicious! Going to have to try it. And the Mac and cheese… so easy compared to the other recipes I’ve tried. Cinnamon in the cranberry sauce…interesting bet it makes it “warm” not spicy but I don’t know what else to call it. Looks delish! Everything looked delicious! And you’re so right casseroles need topping! Have a great week!
My grandma [she was the best cook - german) also made her mac & cheese casserole with eggs! I'll have to make yours and see if it is the same. Mine never turned out like hers😢
Awww. Well I hope you find a recipe that's close. If you make mine and it's a little different than your grandma's, let me know what's different, and we can see if we can tweak it a little to get your desired results.😉😍 Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
These look great. Just looking around for something different to add too this years table. I wish you had added what kind of shredded cheese you are adding to each dish. The Mac and cheese recipe you did say but the others you just say cheese. Im assuming its chedder but is it mild or sharp or medium.
Hey Donna! That's completely up to you. It's kinda like hot sauce, lol. Hot vs mild.😉 sharp cheddar is more sharp and tangy, and it adds a little kick to the mac and cheese. That's why I shared that I use half sharp in the mac n cheese. Sharp just has a stronger cheese taste. But other than that, is a recipe calls for cheddar cheese, you can us mild,.medium, or sharp. Or you could even use Monterey Jack. It's totally to your preference. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a wonderful and very happy Thanksgiving 🥰
I live in S.E.okla.and my mother made her Mac & Cheese by boiling thr elbow pasta draining it and placing a layer of pasta in a 9x13 greased pan, then a layer of grated mild cheddar cheese, then put dollops of catsup over the cheese, then pouring undiluted evaporated milk, not a lot though, then repeat layering ,pour about 1/2 can more milk over top and bake till bubbly and cheese melts...that how I make mine to.
My needs always asks me to bring a similar summer squash casserole. Even her kids love it. One of her boys said last year, "That's the BOMB!" ( people tend to think the mayo is wierd, til they taste this dish. Yum!) Also, for a main dish mix in some sautéed diced chick[en seasoned up well. The kids will gobble it upm
Hey, Valerie. I stumbled upon your post through accident, but I am so glad I did. First and foremost, we’re both southern belles; I am from Alabama. Secondly, you’re cooking up recipes my momma made, but I was just too darn selfish as a teenager in the 80’s to learn. Now, I want to make dinners for my kids like momma used to make. But, unfortunately my mom is gone and so is her cooking. But your cooking is very reminiscent of her. Nice to meet you. I’ll be following. 😊
Wow Valerie. Where do you get your energy and have a wee one to look after too. You cooked up some awesome stuff. You can never have to much cheese yummo. I love evaporated milk in my Mac n cheese and I always add egg as well. Looks great. Nice you have your daddy’s Mac n cheese. I love casseroles. Goodness great stuff gurl. Thanks for sharing Valerie
No egg...no butter Butter keeps the cheese from sticking to the elbows. I make a rue and I slice up my cheese and melt it down in the hot the. There is no bare elbows in mine but I sure gave had them at work for our Thanksgiving luncheons for years. Seriously I used the recipe in Betty Crocker cookbook that I got as a wedding gift and after 46 years of marriage I have changed up what cheeses I use but we still love the basic recipe. Like you I know everybody has their favorite.
Your recipes look great. They truly are to my taste. Also these side dishes are easy to make and are the taste of home that everybody likes. I definitely am making the creamed corn and rolls. Great job I don't know if you grew up with spiced crab apples or warm spiced whole peaches with cloves. I have searched everywhere for both of these sweet and spicy holiday recipes. They have both disappeared from American cookery. Any ideas?
Glad I found this channel. Love your food and instructions. You have a great sense of humor too. You are right, not a casserole unless topping it with something.
I did not. But you could if you wanted. If you don't, just make sure to cook it down really good. And let the veggies sit and drain for a bit. Thank you so much for watching! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.🥰
My family makes it with the egg also only we add bread crumbs to the top makes it nice and crunchy on top and we sprinkle the Parmesan cheese to the bread crumbs on the top.
