Rahul, you’re absolutely killing it fam. With the videos, the POV, opinions, experiments, trips, errything! Amazing work bro! I just converted my Nexon EV to EV Max yesterday! Totally worth the upgrade. I had already booked earlier XZ+ on 28/04 and converted it into XZ+ Max 3.3 kW, absolutely worth the 1.54 lakh increment. Thank you for your videos, they really helped me take the electric side for my secondary car. Although I’ll still not sell my secondary and will use it as my third vehicle. Very helpful. Thank u again. Edit - Why I chose 3.3kW and not the FC - First of all I can do this later anytime if needed, Secondly, personally I think Charging Li-on batteries faster generates more heat and for a long term standpoint I’d rather charge it slow and keep better battery health and I’m very happy about the charge limit as I’ll try to keep it in 20-80% range most of the time. And as the EV max has larger battery capacity the charging frequency will decrease, in turn decreasing total battery cycles in long run so that’s better. I will rarely do journeys outside of my city in this particular car, but from Jaipur to Delhi it’ll be possible for me in EV Max and it’ll be so fun to just show up to my friends every other weekend and that’ll cost me absolutely nothing. Imagining this excites me. And I’ve been tired of paying 5k for every week for past so many months just for city use. EV Max is a deal setter for sure. Tata has refined it’s EV and brought it to its deserved potential.

For a lot of existing owners, it's more of FOMO. Honestly, I'm very happy with my EV, including the range. I bought my car for 15 lakhs along with subsidy, which itself was above my budget, but it made sense to me. It's possible that I would have stretched my budget if Max was available when I booked, but to be honest, I don't need it. I'd rather use this car for some years and buy a next gen EV than upgrading to Max at this point.

Hi Rahul. Thank you for this insightful video. I have one question. The AC charger difference 3 vs 7KW.. is for the wall mount unit or the portable unit. I mean the wall mount unit is 7kw or the portable part has that power rating?
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Diksha, hope you are doing well. So when you get the 7.2 kW version, then they will install that charger on the wall and it has its own fixed gun. Plus you will get the portable charger, which also comes with the current Nexon EV that is 3.3 kW one. So when travelling, you will use the 3.3 kW portable charger. Hope it helps :)

@@RahulKaushik09 best is that the base max version also has 7 kw AC charging capability built in. So you can buy a 7 kw charger after a year if you feel the need.

There is no guarantee that will provide you with a charger after one year. I wanted to buy another 15 Amp box that Tata delivers with the car for home installation. The dealership sent a request and Tata rejected it. They said we have limited availability and priority will be given to customer deliveries. This is after almost 3 years of Nexon EV Standard launch.

very good round up of the new nexon ev and comparisons. Just a bit of confusion created about the AC charging capacities in the base max and luxury max.
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi M Viv, so both Max variants support 7.2 kW charging, in reality it's 6.6 kW. Both also support fast charging @50 kW as compared to initial reports that said it's capped at @25 kW in 3.3 version. The only difference is that one car will come with a 3.3 home charging box while the 7.2 kW will get you an AC fast charger at home. So basically the difference is only of the charger. Thing is there is no after market 7.2 kW charger that you can buy from a third party and Tata will not sell you a 7.2 charger later on as they have cities limited supply On top of that semi conductor shortage won't help. So it's best to spend a bit more and get the 7.2 version, it saves a lot of time.

Hi rahul, I have a very important question regarding charging options for Nexon ev Max.. you recommend to go for 7.2Kwh charger... However some says in a long run 7.2 kw charger will Deteriorate the Batteries.. Can you pleas explain tha science behind this.. if true? And at the end which charging option will be beneficial.. Thankyou

What is the best way to charge an EV. I’m hearing both. When using it on a daily basis, short drive (office - home) Is it best to keep it between 30% to 60% or between 70% - 100% ?
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Rajesh, after doing lot of research on this topic and keeping in mind the battery cell chemistry used in Nexon EV, plus what top Tata officials have suggested, the conclusion is: Don't keep the battery below 20% for prolonged period of time. It is fine if the state of charge in the battery is between 30% to 80%. If you drive to work and charge your car once in two days, then it is recommended to charge it to 80% or 90%. Both are ok. Make sure you slow charge your car once a week to 100% if you do lot of fast charging. If not, then at least charge your once to 100% every 10 days. This helps keep the battery cells balanced.

What is the logic in recommending 7.2 kw charger compared to 3.3 kw charger? Are there any basic differences in the vehicle, such as hardware of the vehicle itself? I feel 50k premium for just a charger is too high. Maybe we will get cheaper AC fast chargers in the market soon. I think the irrespective of the AC charger u opt for, DC and AC fast charging capability of the vehicle remains the same ...thanks in advance!
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Vikram, apart from the home fast charger, the biggest advantage is that the 7.2 variant supports 50kW fast charging compared to 25 kW in the 3.3 version. The 3.3 supports AC slow charging like the 7.2 version, which technically is 6.6 kW, but having fast charging capped at 25 kW is a deal breaker as the battery pack is bigger and that means more time waiting at the fast charger when charging is limited to 25 kW. As for fast AC chargers by third parties in future, see the EV adoption is growing but still it's not at the level where third parties will jump in with accessories in near future, so if you get the 3.3 version, you are basically getting a charger box with a 15 Amp plug, that will take a long time to charge the car. Whereas the extra 50 you are spending is saving you a lot of time and that too in present. Also with shortage of semi conductor, not sure how quickly third parties will be able to get 7.2 kW to the market. So at the end it all comes down to the individual preferences. Hope it helps :)

@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Prashant, don't worry about anything. If the range works out for you, then go for it. Nexon EV is a great car and very reliable. Even if you check on the internet, you will find a lot of Hyundai Creta also with problems, sometimes with gearboxes or other things. When a company is producing so many car, a couple of them can have issues. But they have not been anything major. If the car was not reliable, the wait times wouldn't be 4 to 6 months on the car. Nexon EV Max is a great car, if it fits your budget then get it. You will love it and enjoy driving it.

Thanks for sharing your valuable insights on the video , they were very helpful . I have already booked standard nexon ev xz+ lux in the month of March awaiting allotment yet! I had one question for the nexon ev would you recommend installing aftermarket blue led lights in the cabin near the front and rear seats? Will they be safe to install . I am planning for the same but need your view on the same. Will it affect battery or ony other components or even range?
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Jay, first of all congrats on having a Nexon EV on booking, I hope you get your allotment soon. You will really love the experience when you get it. To be honest, personally I don't recommend any changes to the car, especially when the electricals are concerned. Even if they are just lights. See in an ICE vehicle we can risk it, because if anything goes wrong and the company doesn't provide us warranty, we can buy parts in the market and get it fixed. But in the Nexon EV case nothing is available in the open market and components are really expensive. So I will suggest sticking to the stock car, and not make any changes. You never know when something can go wrong and you don't want to give Tata any reason to void your warranty. So for peace of mind, don't risk it. Hope it helps :)

Hi Sir.. i watched your Videos always. Very nice info video..Good detailed videos.. .I have one query of Nexon EV max if i opt for 7.2 KW charger option since it is Fast AC charger...what about balancing of battery cells for 100% charge which Tata recommends as slow charging option....should the cell balancing will be still effective with AC fast charger..As i will be charging only FAST AC and DC charging
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Sachin, hope you are doing well. The 7.2 kW is also considered a slow charger. So you don't have to worry about cell balancing. It doesn't degrade the battery like a DC fast charger of 50kW. So if you go with the 7.2 kW version, then again it just works as a slow charger and it doesn't impact the battery. 3.3 kW charger will become really annoying because it takes forever to charger the car.

Why not to opt for 3.3kW version?
@RahulKaushik09
@RahulKaushik09 2 года назад
Hi Achint, the 3.3 will come with a normal 15 Amp plug charging box, that will take forever to charge the battery due to a bigger battery pack. People charge their cars at home over 90% of the time, so a fast charger really makes it convenient, especially when your battery is low and then you have to charge and leave again in some time. Right now at this price, 7.2 kW is a good deal, because you can't buy it after market and Tata will not sell it to you later due to limited availability and semi conductor shortage. So to save time and actually enjoy the EV experience, I personally recommend you to get a 7.2 kW version. My car has a smaller battery pack, but even charging from 30% to 80% takes at least 5 hours, whereas with the 7.2 kW charger you can top it up in like 2.5 to 3 hours.

Hi Jitendra, I will suggest you to give a call to Bajaj Allianz and Acko Insurance. Take a quote from them. I am sure they will give you a cheaper quote than the dealer. Then you will have an idea of what price you need to negotiate with the dealer. Usually dealers inflate prices by 30-40 thousand on insurance.
