#8 make bigger blocks. The last quilt, and the second one would be easy to enlarge by using wider strips to create larger blocks. This would also avoid those strips just floating. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks Di for addressing this problem, I think most quilt patterns are made for looks not actual use! I like a quilt to cover a bed like a bedspread hanging over the sides not a bed top only. I always seem to be adding to my quilts. Mostly I add blocks, but I enjoyed your ideas and am reminded there are many ways to make a quilt bigger. I often buy fabric according to the pattern and don’t always have matching left to use, I like your racing strip ideas and adding a new color or fabric! Well done! 👏 ❤

I have a 3 yr book but have never made any because I just don't care for the look of most of the patterns. Just to plain and small. Now I'm thinking of them differently and can figure out how much extra fabric to buy.

To increase quilt size you can put blocks on point however could mess up the 3 yd quilt pattern but would work on the quarter log cabin . The peek a bootie did make me laugh. I also come from the giant family and 60” quilt is totally inadequate .

Great ideas! I'm doing the racing stripe on a big extension now. Then add an extra solid piece of background (black from the top of the quilt) with a few flying geese in each corner and a leftover block from the top in the center of that black piece of the border.. whew! I am also going to hand sew on some stitched stars. Just an outline in variegated thread. Theres so much negative space and I need to fill it. Hope it turns out good. Nevee tried this before 🤞 thank you!

Wonderful ideas! I enjoy making three yard quilts but I like them to be a bit bigger. I usually end up getting 1 1/2 yards of two of the fabrics and 2 yards of the one intend to use for the binding because I like a 2 1/2 inch binding. I really enjoyed that you showed all the different quilts with the added fabric.

I have a totally complete quilt that I made for my 3 year old granddaughter. Now she wants it bigger since she’s now 10. I need help ! Not sure what do

If that were my situation, Lori I would make my granddaughter a totally new quilt. You could use the same pattern just make it bigger, but I wouldn’t try to add-on to one that she’d been dragging around for seven years. You’d hate yourself at the end of it anyway. Thanks for watching😊♥️🐥

Love the yellow green and red it is such a pretty combination❤I have never made a three yard quilt it is now on my list of things to try. The floating border is interesting I like it.quilt #3is so bright and pretty your fabric choice is so nice.I love those borders they are classy.My fav is the orange one such a pretty combo love it.

Instead of a 4 inch border could you do 11/2 inch and 31/2 inch inner borders? I'd use the 4 patch colours.

Adding more blocks is always my goto, Just gotta add the same amount to at least one long and one short side otherwise it always looks funky to me.
