If you have a fear of the dentist and are looking for new techniques to relax before and during your next dental appointment, we’ve got a few tips for you: www.dentalassociates.com/blog...
Yes thank you im not alone.. that is one of the main reasons I'm scared of going to the dentist. I'm scared of the judgment they'll have. Honestly I haven't really been brushing my teeth at all, and its kinda hard to focus on basic hygiene when your battling with some sort of depression or anxiety. I just wish I had the courage to go and fix my teeth already.
@@braddion6406I'm really late on this but I hope you've mustered up the courage bro 🙏 dentist really are there to help, and if you feel like yours isn't then find another. Much love man
@@lesunshineworshiper11 I’ve had this experience by a woman dentist a few months back and I didn’t go back for a long time because of it. I think that’s actually quite rare though. I went back last week and the new dentist I saw was so understand and even said “ this happened way more then you think for a lot of people, don’t be so hard on yourself”
I feel u im in the same boat had bad depression most my teen and adult life im now 32 and my mouth is so bad the fear is so bad i habe dentist in 7 days i pray i can do this because its got to much over the years @braddion6406
Thank you I’m not doing to well with brushing my teeth and have just gotten one removed and was a wake up call now I’m still and verry anxious about my teeth
@@mermaidx9386 I’m getting better still verry worried about my teeth and have a habit of forgetting some days but defo much better thank you for asking
@@emitzzed1733 aww that’s good! I’m super scared of the dentist I cry every time I go but today I tried my best to be strong and it wasn’t that bad tbh, just make sure you brush them and try and gargle with salt water it really helps, I know how hard and scary it is but I promise it’ll be okay ❤️
i'm so pleased to tell you that you are, in fact, absolutely and completely wrong. I had four wisdom teeth extracted under local anaesthetic when I was a teenager. One of the teeth took 40 minutes to extract, and I was immediately converted to a dental phobic by that barbaric dentist. However, I have been able to beat my phobia, and I now have a wonderful dentist who understands me and is able to provide me with virtually painless dentistry. I did a lot of work myself to reduce my fears, by studying the procedures I was undergoing, and discussing things in depth with my dentist first. Ultimately, I'm cured of my phobia and have almost no anxiety at all when I attend for dental care. If you're feeling as I once did, I do hope you're able to find a dentist who specialises in anxious patients. They are out there, and you should seek one out. It makes all the difference.
@@tasmedicthis makes me feel just a lil bit better thank you. But I'm still too afraid to go to the dentist, its hard even after having one bad experience especially when you can't find the right understanding dentist either, I just wish ibhad someone by my side helping me go through it
@@braddion6406 I really feel for you, Brad. I've been where you are, and know how hopeless I felt in your situation. Firstly, check with your friends to try and find a sympathetic dentist. Also, those dentists who specialise in treating children can be helpful too, if you can find one who will see and talk with you. Once you're able to face sitting in the chair, maybe book a simple inspection, and take a friend along for support. I wish you luck, and hope you can deal with your fears, as I have been able to do.
Kinda hard when u got ptsd from being wrapped in a blanket as a child to keep me still and then them almost dropping a instrument down my throat. The fear will never go away instant panic attack goin into the room
I know this is a year old, but you are not alone. When I was a child, I was strappped down against my will for a vaccination that I did not want to get, and seeing a doctor walk into the room with a syringe to this day feels like looking down the barrel of a shotgun. Tomorrow, I will go to my dentist for an implant, knowing that they will need to use needles to numb the area, and draw blood in order to make the implant. I made the appointment myself, and I put down a deposit on the appointment, setting the date in stone. This is going to happen, and it will be ok. This is not only my opportunity to overcome my fear of needles, but to overcome fear itself, as I need to be as strong as I can to weather the uncertainties of the future and trials to come. Tomorrow, I will conquer fear itself.
I just overthink about the cavities or unexpected things.. it is impossible for me to manage the fear of dental appointments.. it just scares me. The injections, and everything hurts on me.. when they pull out a tooth I just start crying and screaming ;( please help me I have too much anxiety of this..
You need to find a dentist who specialises in anxious patients. Failing that, find one that mostly deals with children. Most of all, be honest about your anxiety, tell your dentist that you are phobic, and he or she will either work with you on this or possibly recommend a dentist who will suit you better.
these tips made me less afraid of the dentist but im still afraid of anesthesia because it hurts very much but after anesthesia its painless also thanks for making me less afraid :)
I am a senior who had braces in my thirties. The result produced pockets that didn't fill in completely. Now I have old fillings breaking down to. The result is a lot of work and expense. I am paralyzed with fear. I brush 2 times a day and waterpick once a day after flossing. It doesn't make a difference. I get so depressed thing about this constant work that I need.
I understand. But I think I need someone to talk to or lean on, my teeth or bad rn but at the same time I'm scared of going to the dentist because I'm scared of the judgment they will have against me. Plus its hard to keep with basic hygiene when depression comes and ruins it for you.
Im so done In a month I have to get 5 pulled and like a few filled can you explain how it works and if you have numbing stuff (as in the shot 💀) how do I like not start bursting out crying and rejecting it
I was gonna have a tooth extracted but i panicked so much and refused to go. My dad tried to drag me out but i refused again. I ended up being grounded but it was worth it. I have a orthodontal appointment (my very very 1st one) in half an hour and im STRESSING that theyll say i have to get that tooth pulled. I just cant get over the fear 😢
Well if it makes you feel any better I have to get 6 removed tomorrow and it’s actually not that bad! I’ll admit you can feel a bit of the yanking but my dentist puts numbing cream on and you can’t feels anything or any pain I also like to listen to music while it happens so you don’t hear the machinery. Hope everything went well at the appointment!
@@Tootsieroll_Ryann mann same here....i was listening to music the whole time during the extraction to calm myself down and focus on the music more......but it didn't help that much.....i still ended up asking my dentist "can you plz make it not painful😭"
i dont know what it is i am not afraid of drill or getting tooth pulled but a few days before i go i start freaking out by the time i get there i am on edge my b/ p is up and i just have to get the hell out of there yes sometimes i have left it just sucks maybe this could be it about 25 years ago went to the dentist tooth pulled bleed all day went back to him he said keep biting on gauze i did bleed all night next day went to another dentist he said gum was cut wide open needed to be stitch up big time maybe that stays with me !!!
I am just scared of the shot or he just takes it out with out no shot it is scary for me and it is my first time getting my tooth out but I take care of my teeth very well and when I mean very well but some times I fall asleep with out brushing so that may be the problem 😰
Bro same rn reading comments are honestly making me calmer but I know on my life Ill have panic attacks till It even starts and while it starts (and after It will be a core memory bro 💀)
A Dentist came up and surprised me and putting up the chair very fast even not giving me a warning or saying anything when he came in. So I jumped up, because I was scared and so on. I was claiming down but the dentist gave up on me saying to take me elsewhere not there.
