Didn't learn anything new as I discovered the strategies by just playing a lot, highest rank was 9. But wow you express your thoughts so clear and structured every video is a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to putting the Draftosaurus tips in practice. Subscribed :)

Thanks for the kind words! Writing the script takes the most amount of time in the video making process so I'm glad it comes across. I reached a peak of top 5 for Architects but have definitely fallen out of love with the game. Even though I know I can play better I can't shake the feeling of helplessness in most games. It makes losing feel much worse than in any other game I play.

I have found that the cat is worth more than 2 points always. The last cat really is worth 6vp (2 for card, 2 for token, and -2 for them losing the token) and that's on top of the increase of 50% knowledge and being about to lay traps.

Agreed, I'll always look to take the cat unless there is a 3pt card or military card early in the game. On top of the other benefits you mentioned the sound it makes when passing from player to player on BGA is delightful!

I totally agree about the first sentence, I'm trying this game on bga and I always end last. The others draw good cards from random while I end with 5 resources of 3 kinds when I need to complete the last stage with 4 differents!!! And the following player ends the game. How can I be so cursed?? Hope to find any useful info here.

I love your channel and your strategy guides. (I may have even bumped into you on BGA several times :). Somehow, for all its production values, I find 7WA hard to like at 2p. Often, bad cards show up on both open decks and then the game just plays itself with both players drawing blind from the facedown deck. I get that it is a very light intro game, but I wish it were less random. Do you play with any house rules?

Thank you! ❤ It serves its purpose as a fun intro game for new board gamers. Honestly, I can't play 7WA (competitively) any more. For the exact reason you said, the randomness is too frustrating at times! My house rule is don't play it with any expectation to win, and it can be a fun party game for more casual players :)

Where can you find those stats? Where you derived the 1.5 points. Is there a URL for that?

I gathered statistics from a random sample of players on BGA by looking at their game histories. Tried to get a mix of high ELO and low ELO players to balance things out. The sample size of 14 is horrendously small, but I figured the end result wouldn't be too different if looking at only 14 or 1000.

how much does the civ you start with effect strategy?

Great question! Probably not as much as the designers intended I would say. With Babylon and Rhodes it's more important to get the 2nd stage of them completed earlier, for the science token and military shield respectively. Otherwise eh. I would still prioritise cards in the same way. Having said that, there are a lot more people higher ranked than I am these days, so it's possible I am just missing something.
