This bit where all the pros got sick from Singapore is really something that should be looked in to if they want to keep hosting races. Really not safe for you guys and clearly impacted a lot of people's racing (or lack thereof) at 70.3 WC.
I swear Sam is the only person talking about this and I don't understand it. I've seen it mentioned in passing or as an afterthought but no real coverage. I could be missing it but I find it very strange.
Fred Funk said that he hopes IM will introduce the race ranger and 20m rule because at these high speeds legal drafting is such an issue. Would make a sport much more exiting for spectators and strong bikers like you. I don't want pure run competitions. If IM does not adapt, the pro scene will rightfully move towards PTO. All the best Sam! ❤
Of course you did not so bad congratulations...but also you make one at the other excuse like always 😂😂..just simply don't talk so much and preform like you talk....
Really enjoyed watching you race this past few weeks. The pto race dynamics and the locations made for top entertainment. Looking forward to seeing more of your races.
BRO! Hook it up!! What’s your HVMN code!! 0:44 When you say you’re a volume guy, I get it, just curious if, for you, that also means less intensity? Or volume + high intensity?
I think it’s basically the same situation repeated. The circumstances different but at its heart it’s identical. I know exactly what he is going through and how hard it is!
Great stuff but I hate to be the bearer of bad news bears. The being a dad may only get worse from this point forward. As someone once said to me it’s always good when you can give them back. I think kids are great though.
Your decrease in performance coincided with a lot of things - but starting to coach yourself was one of them. Let’s be honest - the spring campaign was on the back of training prescribed by Ryan Bolton and then Dan Plews, who you “fired” just a few weeks before Ibiza. A few months of self coaching and the results aren’t terrible but not spectacular either.
Is there any correlation between you running more with Lionel and your performance going down? It seems like you two seem to push each other hard when you work out together, which could lead to more fatigue than the body has time to absorb into fitness. Perhaps a strategy could be to hold each other accountable not to grit and pain but to discipline and beneficial dosage. I love watching you two and I hope the camaraderie can turn into something greater than even the Germans or Norwegians could achieve! I hope you both are having regular discussions like this about these struggles so you can both go above and beyond what we thought was possible in triathlon!
um did you listen to his youtube? he peaked in May and June and hasn't been able to train to peak now. It doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Lionel. Moreso the prep for a baby, personal stuff, HAVING a baby, and travel and sickness. His running was great in May/June when he wanted to peak.
Solving the "new dad curse" by being gone and racing for most of the first few weeks isn't really solving the issue. 😂 Hope you can still find continued success now that you'll be into the thick of it though!
