Alan and Muireann are joined by the Director of Policy & Advocacy Paul Gordon & Student Aisling Maloney to discuss how the cost of living crisis is affecting young people.
A recent survey revealed that 7 in 10 adults aged between 18 and 24 years old are looking at the possibility of moving away from Ireland because it is too expensive to stay here.
Aisling Maloney tells Muireann and Alan that, "I just don't think it's possible to live here."

All our young well educated will leave - & you can all thank our wonderful government for this - disgraceful - so saddened by the way our country is heading - I’ve a daughter in collage too & it’s just unreal with no proper transport / no accommodation/ it’s getting harder & harder just to be here in this country to survive . The cost of living has gone through the roof ! Shameful on our young - it’s actually despicable what this government are doing-

The susi grants is great but not progressive we went €15 over what earnings we were meant to have & my grant was reduced by €3,000 & accomdation if you're looky is about 800 a month

Public transportation, condition of clinics, the way how city structured are so bad in Dublin, why, how as people paying high amount of tax. Also in spite of spending high amount of money life quality is so low plus the weather. For living in this country no thank you. Mind set of immigrants are make money and after few year LEAVE🙂

Young Irish people always left to work elsewhere. Most will have to get up earlier and work harder but they will have more money in their pockets on a Friday evening. The tax in ireland on low wages is huge because half the country opt for social welfare or income support. You cant blame someone for opting To do nothing when they are no better off working. Its always been that way .
