Nice work, loved the MT list, not the most competitive one though, but very "Minastirithian". FYI, Irolas has Heroic Defense, it would have been a nice move to stop the troll during 3 turns.

Thanks! Yeah we tend to lean hard into theme and then play competitively with the themey armies- although I'll admit Lou probably did forget about Heroic Defence!

I've just got into mesbg and really enjoying your channel, the bat reps are really well done, good work! If you had to choose between Army of Gothmog or Black Gate opens for a beginner, which would you suggest?

Excellent- it's a great game, I'm sure you'll love it! I think they're both really good beginner choices. I'd swing a bit toward Black Gate Opens though as there's a bit less to remember and less reliability on positioning. With Army of Gothmog, Gothmog needs to be in just the right spot to make the most of his buffs and master of battle but also not leave himself vulnerable as the leader of your force whereas the troll can take a hit or two. I'd always take the Mouth of Sauron but other than him and the troll it's just a pile of orcs (in the best possible way!). 😁

Worth noting you should use might after you’ve rolled the dice. For example the Kotwt rolled a 6 and a 4 when needing 5s to wound. He should then decided immediately if he’s using the might on the 4 before any other dice are rolled, especially before your opponent elects to use any fate.

Yes I'll admit I've been caught out doing similar to this before- rolling one by one and waiting on fate is how it should be done!

5:46 I know a Transfix was cast on the Bolt Thrower, but can you help me understand why it didn’t shoot? 1. There should be 3 crew (1 Siege Veteran, 2 Crew Members) 2. The Veteran comes with 1M, 1W, 1F. Did he opt to not try and resist? 3. Without compelling a model right in front of the Bolt Thrower itself, there should be no reason it couldn’t shoot. Am I missing something?

I can see by the Might total the Siege Veteran was probably completely missed. Gandalf - 3 Irolas - 3 Knight of the White Tower - 2 Beregond - 1 Siege Veteran - 1 Total 10

Yeah in the description... We missed the FAQ that gives the Bolt Thrower three crew members! This is after several tournaments using it too!! I targeted the other crew member not the vet and as that left only the vet it couldn't shoot as you need two to fire a siege engine.

And yeah something's gone wrong on the counter there! 😅 the game was actually near Christmas so I've been adding up as I edit and it's obviously not worked out right, I think potentially the vet never used his so I forgot to mark it on! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

It just says "is a small siege engine crewed by two warriors of Minas Tirith. One of the crew is automatically the siege veteran." So I think we're good this time, although often we're not! 😂

Love this, just got myself a chieftain to use this LL. Please could you tell me where you got that terrain, my friend has just started a camel rider army and this would be perfect

Thanks, the chief is so good! My camel army is the reason we got this scenery too. It's actually 3D printed though, if you have access it's on Thingiverse I believe but it was a few years ago we made them.

Great bat rep as always. Wasted the bolt thrower big time. Gandalf also didn't justify his points cost. Always a learning opportunity! Keep up the great work with these videos!

Do you transfix the bolt thrower itself or one of the crew? Can it fire with just 2 crew not full 3?

Yeah we made a rules error here I'm afraid! We only have the bolt thrower with two crew as we missed it in the FAQ. And then we thought it required two crew to shoot so I imobilised one 😩 You just have to pretend it missed... 😂
