Hi... Can you please guide me on 4 below things.. just installed A800s in KIA Sonet GTX. A) How to do dual recording by both cameras ? B) How to configure ADAS ?? C) In Dashcam screen, GPS location & speed is not showing .. how to configure ?? D) Whenever vibration is higher due to road, it's recording emergency video. Please help to configure it right.
Apologies for the extreme late response. Great questions! Allow me to answer in the same sequence: A) The dual recording starts automatically as soon as the rear dash cam wire is connected to the front dash cam. B) ADAS configuration took around 10 minutes. It would be configured by the dashcam itself while driving and maintaining a speed of above 25kmph. All you have to do is initiate the process in the settings of ADAS (easily discoverable in the menu) and the dashcam will do the rest. C) That issue is common. I had read about it in a few blogs as well. After the initial setup, the dashcam takes a few minutes to configure itself. After I stopped the car and restarted the car, issue got resolved. D) Yes, the emergency video will start on its own at high vibrations. Setup not needed. It is built in the system. You can adjust the vibration settings. I have shown all the settings in the above video. Please check at 10:18. Hope it helps!
Hi Harry, great review. Thank you. I purchased the dashcam after watching your review. I have a quick question - I'm unable to see live video of the rear cam in the mobile app. The front cam's footage shows just fine. Is the functionality to show live rear cam footage supported at all?
Glad you found my video useful! Unfortunately, we cannot see the rear dashcam live view in the app, it hasn't been implemented yet for some reason. Please check out the 2nd part of this dashcam where I explained in greater detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KQJXa9v1AgU.html. I even made a long term review of it that you may find useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q69FTTOhwpQ.html
Excellent review 1 quick question There is no access to the cam or its files if the dashcam is not in range of its own Wi-Fi to a receiver am i right ??
@@NIRAJPATELV yup...there should be an option to see the videos from home...i asked them too...but they said they need a SIM Card sort of a connection which makes the price go up....should have been an inbuilt feature
Hello, I would greatly appreciate it, if you would be so kind as to tell me whether the dash cam overheats in the summer time or not, also some general info you might add after owning and using the product for a few months. I thank you in advance and have a wonderful day 😁
Hi, Sure, I'm happy to help. The dashcam does not overheat at all since it is meant to operate at temperatures between 10°C and 60°C. Even during torrid summer the dashcam works just as normal. The surface of the dashcam does become hot but it doesn't stop working which is pretty awesome. Even the electrostatic stickers didn't come off. I would recommend placing the dashcams as high as possible on both the windshields since the roof of the car helps in blocking most of the direct sunlight. I have done just that if you notice in the video. Apart from that there is actually nothing to worry about with this dashcam. Works great. You too have a wonderful day. Take care and enjoy.
Im planning to hardwire my dashcam and ask some question about wiring . i have the 70mai hardwiring kit 3 wires ACC labeled yellow , VCC labeled red and ground labeled with black. Does VCC labeled RED goes to battery as constant?
Does the camera have time limits during parking mode (12\24 hours)? I would like to connect it to an external battery to keep it always on. When motion is detected while in parking mode, do both cameras activate and record? Does it work well in this mode?
Nope, no limit. Recording starts upon impact only not motion, only front dashcam. Works well. You can refer the short term video (part 2) of this dashcam where I explained in detail.
That was my 1st concern ever when I got the dashcam installed. The installation guy confirmed that no harm will come to either the wire or the sticker/dashcam, still I was skeptical. But surprisingly, it still looks and works just as new. Heating doesn't effect these stickers. So yeah, till now everything seems to be safe and sound. I guess these electrostatic stickers have a far better technology behind it.
Glad you found it useful. Nope, it doesn't impact the car's battery. As soon as the car is switched off, the dashcam goes to sleep mode. It only activates for a few seconds upon impact. Doesn't even use the battery that much. I've been using it ever since and hasn't discharged battery once.
I searched online for a dashcam dealer nearest to my location, went there and got it fixed. It can be fixed by any dashcam dealer since they all have an installation guy with them.
Hello bro, I want to ask if we install a direct fuse dashcam/hardwire kit, does it interfere with the radio frequency? So far, I've installed it, it's annoying ... is there any way to avoid it?
No it hasn't affected my car's radio frequency in any way. Do you own a sonet as well? And if yes then did you use the fuse box instructions I gave in the video? You should get that looked into
Super bro. Informative. Whether this after market fitment voids the electrical warranty of KIA? Is it permitted without affecting the company warranty.?
Glad you like it. Yes I had called a local dealer at the time and they said as long as wires aren't cut there'll be no issue with warranty. You can confirm with a nearby dealer too.
Great video! Can I plug the charger in to a usb c port via a converter instead of the 12v socket? Unfortunately most cars these days have more usb c ports than others, and I wanna use the only available 12v socket for other purposes instead.
Glad you found it useful! I don't think there should be any problem using that type C port in the car. As long as that port is able to charge devices it should be just fine. For a better clarity in the matter I think it would be a good option to enquire with the customer care team before connecting the cable in the port. Purchase link is in the description of the video if you consider buying it. Enjoy.
@@sagarmurmu2569 my pleasure. Nope, not at all. I placed it behind the rear view mirror meaning I have to bend my neck slightly to view the dash cam so it isn't distracting.
Great review @HarryWT....can you give a feedback now after usage ...is 70mai A800S is this worth buying...and request additional kit which needs to be brought for 24x7 parking activity.Or request suggest some other dash cam...expected installation on XUV700...thanks and Kudos for the channel friend.
I'm glad you like the video 😊. I'm assuming you also belong to India since you mentioned XUV700. To answer your question, yes, absolutely! Even after using the A800S dashcam for more than a 100 days or so now, I still think it's one of the best available dash cams in India. As for the 24 hour parking surveillance hard wire kit, it is a must have especially if you are parking your car in the open during night hours so that in the morning if you find even a scratch on your car you can find out who was the culprit with the help of the dashcam. It has come in handy for me on a few occasions as well. Even if it doesn't come in handy, I really think that it's better to have it and not use it then to use it and not have it. Coming to some other dashcams in the market that I think are worth the buy, I think you can look into a dual channel dashcam by DDPAI which is the Mini 5 4K dashcam. It has tons of features too including 4K FHD 2160P recording, GPS and 5G Wifi. You can even slide out the dashcam when not in use apart from 24 hour surveillance. Both the cameras are a part of a bundle package. I would suggest you to go for both if you decide to go for the bundle. However, if you wish to buy just 1 camera then I guess you would have to buy the front camera only since the rear camera works only if it is connected to the front camera. @@HarryWT Thank you so much for your reply and suggestions and advice. I would be going with your advice & choose the same, However, just one concern it has very few reviews on Amazon and most are not positive that's why I am getting confused. Should I ignore the negative reviews and go for this ? Thanks
It's my pleasure :). Good question. Nope, you should not ignore them at all. But do understand that most reviews are given by those who have had a bad experience with the product. In this case the only explanations could be either that the installation of the electrostatic stickers didn't go well due to which the videos are blurry, a mishap took place in which the camera was unable to capture the license plate due to a certain angle (could happen with any camera) frustrating the driver to post a bad review or that the reviewer had a past bad experience with the company resulting in a hate review. I too had a lot of doubts before going for this dashcam and looked at many options and reviews of other dashcams such as DDPAI dashcams, etc. However, considering that this is the best one in the market in terms of 4K recording, I opted for this one. It's better to have a near perfect camera than to have no camera at all. I just made sure to get the installation done by a professional which is why my videos seem to be clearer. I would suggest you to enquire about the product with nearby shops who deal with such products and I'm pretty sure you'll find out that this is the best one as of today. Hope it helps :)
@@HarryWT Really, great amazing help and advice I have got related to this, it's been almost 2 months of more I was delaying this task because I was confused with so many products and brands & reviews in the market and online, was not been able to choose anything and I got this car as I love drives specially Highways and trips and in the recent times these dashcams have become a important gadget to have in you car, you install a music system or not, but dashcom should be installed. Hi sorry for the inconvenience I have the 70mai dash Cam Pro Plus A500S, with rear camera and there is no way to connect to the camera wifi, the camera network appears on the cell phone in wifi networks but does not take it, always takes the car entertainment system Toyota Smart Conect, in the camera wifi point is on, and in the app 70mai, the camera is added but does not appear activated, and I get the screen that is activated manually, but I have to mark the chec that is not activated the wifi point on the camera and it is, and if I mark it and give it to connect manually, I choose the camera wifi and tells me that it does not find ip, the truth is no longer that more to do, because of course the path of the routes does not let me see them. I would appreciate if you have any solution. Thank you very much for your help.
Hi buddy ! Great job on the review! how many hours will the 128gb last at 24hr surveillance mode ? is it constantly recording or it just saves the parts the senses a hit ? Thanks you
Thank you for your support! :) The 24 hour surveillance works only on impacts to the cars while it is parked. It does not records 24 hours. It just remains active 24 hours waiting for an impact. Upon impact, it records via both the cameras for a few seconds which is enough to capture the culprit. Hopefully it never comes to use. Great feature to have, nonetheless. Hope this answers your question.
@@HarryWT i just bought it ! What a stupid question that was 🤣 !!! Of course you can't record 24 hours.... 4k needs about 100 gb or more of storage just for one hour of recording!!! What was i thinking ??? Very happy with the product tho !!! Thanks again!!
@@my-youtube-channel-q1 no it's not a stupid question 😂. Maybe you were too excited buying it like I was initially 🤷🏻♂️ You already received it? When did you order?
@@HarryWT Very excited indeed!! It was available in the near by shop for 154euros. I am back with some numbers: Turns out that front camera needs 184mb and rear 41mb for one minute of 4k recording. I bought the same 128gb sd that you recommended. So 128/0.225= 568minutes/60 That means 9,5 hours of 4k recording. It might slightly vary due to image conditions but i think that's pretty close.
Hi. Did you recently purchase the dashcam? The best position to put the dashcam is mid center at the top of the front windshield. The hood of the car should be visible at the bottom but not covering too much of the footage. You can see my sample videos to get an idea of the expected view from the dashcam. However, if ADAS still doesn't work then I would suggest to get it checked from a local mechanic. Hope it works. Take care.
Is the ADAS SYSTEM useful? I already have a front dashcam. I was looking to upgrade it to one with built in ADAS. But the review shows that its a female voice which will get irritating in few hours. It should be multiple bip noise like tesla. Also can we configure the distance for front collision detection? Otherwise in bumper to bumper it will get very irritating. And lastly does lane departure warning comes even when you have indicator running? How is that useful?
good question! In fact I had the same concern before going for the dash cam about the irritating voice lol. However, the volume can be lowered since it has 3 levels. I keep it at the highest level and still it's not irritating to be honest. ADAS is quite useful since it warns of vehicles ahead. And no we cannot configure the distance. It warns only if the car gest real close. Since you already have a front dash cam I would not recommend to buy another dashcam just because of ADAS. However, if your current dashcam is not 4k and are looking for a 4k dashcam then definitely go for it. I would also suggest you to go for a read dashcam since it is equally important. which brand dashcam do you own currently?
@Amol Patil You are welcome! Nope, the camera doesn't heat up. It operates without any issue between -10°C and 60°C. I keep my car parked outside under the sun all day and yet the camera works 24*7 and the electrostatic stickers have stayed intact just like day one. And yes, number plates are quite visible during day time even during night if the angle is right. If the number plates are in a certain angle on the sides then it becomes quite hard to see. Hope it helps!
Excellent review. I am new to the channel and your videos are helpful. Running the wires from the rear cam and from the front, should we get it from a car mechanic? How did you do it?
Glad you like it and that it helped! Yes, please get it done from a car mechanic specifically someone who deals with dashcams on a day to day basis. They know how the wiring should be done in general. Not really sure about a mechanic though. I recently posted a part 2 of this video where I upgraded the software of this dashcam and answered top 10 most common questions. You might find that useful too. @@HarryWT @ do you recommend any dash cam and rear Camera with ADAS system for BMW X5? Does the 70 MAI allow live feeds with the rear Camera ? How far the car need to closer to get remind for the lane changing alert ?
@@louistrade79 Well this dashcam is pretty good with ADAS and can be considered buying since you are looking for one. Yes, this dashcam provides simultaneous front and rear live feeds (check out 2nd part of this where I demonstrated ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KQJXa9v1AgU.html). And regarding lane change, even before moving to the other lane, the dashcam seems to recognize the change and warns immediately. Quite helpful indeed.
Hi! Glad you like it. I couldn't find any option to change it to beeps; however, we can shut off the speaker altogether after which her voice is no longer irritating lol. I switched her off too.
I got it done from a local merchant who deals in dash cams. If you have a sonet or seltos then you can try the same wire connectivity since they r pretty much the same. Do seek professional help if needed since its electricity after all. Hope it helps👍
Yes, I was able to see license plates of most vehicles clearly from both front and back cameras even during different weather conditions like sunny/rainy days and nights (shown in video too). Yes, during night time unnecessary full beams become quite a problem for the front camera in seeing the license plates of the oncoming cars. However, that problem is solved by the rear camera since there is no full beam at the rear of cars since there are tail lights there. And if you get close enough during that time it should be able to capture the license plates. Hope it answers your query.
Glad you found the video useful. The recording starts upon impact. Checkout the short and long term review videos of it too I explained a lot of things in detail.
@@HarryWT thanks AGAIN! will definitely check those videos out - so far I've enjoyed most of your videos some time ago (I think it was the road trip videos).
Hi again, do you know why the "driving route" option is not showing in my app? I've got the latest app on my Android phone and the latest firmware installed on the device.
No, I don't have mail proof. I had called kia warranty team from where I boight the car. It's applicable pan India. Warranty will get void only if you cut any wire. There was no wire cut we used fuse connectors. Just like plug and play.
yup. I used to use my phone to record while driving as well. Now I don't need phone. the 128 gb card is sufficient to capture around 7-10 hours of recordings post which it starts overwriting the initial files.
It turns on by itself. Only initial setup took time when I purchased it. Yes live location can be seen while driving real time. Please refer the sample footage at the end of the video.

Hi Marcos! I updated my own dashcam's firmware in hopes of removing the logo myself 😄I even made a video of it. Unfortunately I could find any such option too. I read some forum somewhere, a Xiaomi employee said they would not be giving that option ugh. Hopefully they will reconsider in the future. Here's the link to the 2nd part of this video if you are interested, I answered many questions in it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KQJXa9v1AgU.html
@@HarryWT ,I forgot to ask you: is it possible to record the videos only in one resolution? In my case I configured the camera to record the videos in the resolution of 3840 X 2160 (4K) but when I go to see on the pc there are two folders one with 4k resolution and the other folder with a lower resolution: 640 X 360 this recording on the front because I don't have the rear camera
@@marcosaureliodosanto You don't have the rear camera? Didn't you go for the bundle pack? I'm not really sure why your dashcam is saving 2 resolution videos from the front dashcam. I think you'll have to check the settings in the dashcam, maybe there's an option which won't show in my dashcam. I made the other video on the file management of this dashcam as well, maybe it helps. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KQJXa9v1AgU.html. Let me know if you are able to remove the option or not. Hope it works. Enjoy!
@@HarryWT ,as for the rear camera, I decided to buy only the front one! Regarding the camera recording videos in two different resolutions, this also happened with my previous camera (70mai pro). Actually, I don't know why, there is no option in camera menu! I only know that when I transfer the videos from the memory card to the pc, two folders appear, one with a 4k resolution and the other with a lower resolution and in fact they are the same videos but separated into two folders, if I had one way to disable it would be ideal, since in my case only the best resolution matters.
@@marcosaureliodosanto This is really strange. It should save just 1 file. I doubt it's because the rear camera is not connected and this is why the dashcam HAS to save something in the other folder so it saves a lower resolution video. Let me check in my car after disconnecting the rear cam to see if that's the case. I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
It's my pleasure and thank you! It's recommended to use that card because it can save the files smoothly in the same speed the dashcam captures the footage. Anything lower than the recommended card might hamper the footage files. Hope that answers your question.
Hi, sir a800s the speed is not accurate as per the car meter. How can we make this correct? The other is I set the dashcam off after 5min in the parking. sir the dashcam will start automatically when we start driving. I am not using hardwire not required 24 hrs surveillance.
Hi. Yes the speed of the dashcam will not be in sync with the car's speedometer since the dashcam uses gps in order to calculate the speed. I noticed that if the car is driven in a constant speed, say on a highway, then the speed is quite accurate. This cannot be rectified, unfortunately. Even so, it is only for reference purpose giving only an idea of the speed of the car and not the actual speed. As for the 2nd query, I am assuming you are using the car cigarette lighter while driving to power the dashcam. When you exit the car, i.e. after the car is parked and the dashcam is switched off, kindly remove the power cord from the cigarette lighter and reconnect it only when you restart the engine. I hope that answers your query.
@@HarryWT thank you for your reply. as u mention to remove the cord from the cigarette lighter for which reason u advise this to do. any other solution than it will start automatically went the car starts and turn off when engine off.
@@tabasumcarpentry5336 since you have selected to turn off after 5 minutes, the dashcam WILL turn off after 5 minutes. However, as a precaution and no reason in particular, it is safe to just disconnect the cable after engine is off. In any case you are not using the parking surveillance feature so it doesn't make any difference to connect the power cable after engine is off
Glad it helped. I was planning to make a 6 months review of it after observing for another 2 months. For now I can say it definitely does the job perfectly. No issues or complaints whatsoever. Just like day 1 it works 100%. Best buy in my opinion.
No wonder ppl get hit. You did great. Other ppl on motor bikes and other cars are nuts. What if you gotta brake fast? I see why you need a camera. And I never understood why places drive on that side of road. If you go either way ppls dying. Thank god I live in USA where we drive on the right side of the road and if you hit ppl or they hit you it's just cause they texting or road head.
yeah there are quite many rash drivers out there who like the adrenalin of speed which sadly only lasts a few seconds for them before they learn the hard way. Thankfully I have cameras at front and back of my car to prove my sanity on road, at least. Also, as I stayed and driven in quite a few countries, I can vouch for when I say that it doesn't really matter on which side of the road you drive. Reason being, its simply a mirror effect. The steering wheel position also reverses from right to left and vice-a-versa. Surprisingly, you get used to it in just a few days. It's just that there are all sorts of "intelligent" yet violent drivers all around the world specifically those who cause such accidents and is certainly not limited to just one or a few countries. Though we cannot change their mentality, we can certainly save our time and effort simply by recording their actions on road. Take care 👍
Prices and discounts are bound to be updated and are set by Amazon/Xiaomi. I don't sell the product hence I cannot offer discounts. This link is to the product in Amazon only.
The car had switched off while driving due to my fault. Immediately the dashcam switched off as it normally does. During the process of it shutting down I restarted the car causing it to restart without properly shutting down. I somehow managed to confuse it😂. It happened only the very first day, didn't happen ever again.
That's not poss possible. It allows only one screen at a time probably because of the small screen. The files are stored separately so thats not an issue anyways since you can view both front and rear footage simultaneously like i have demonstrated at the end.
This dashcam has inbuilt gps and comes enabled by default. upon initial setup it may not work since it is new. However, it automatically starts working in a few minutes. hope it helps
