In this video, signs of succulent root rot, and stem rot / 3 signs to catch it early, I show a few succulent examples that have started to rot. Sometimes, signs of succulent rot are not easy to catch. In this video, I show you subtle signs that our succulents give us that tell us there is something wrong. This will help catch succulent rot early, and will give us a much better chance at saving our precious plants! #succulentrot #succulent #howtosavesucculentfromdying
Succulent examples in this video are, echeveria, echeveria prolifica, graptopetalum superbum, sedum donkey's tail, and sedeveria pink granite.

Thanks!. Is educative and welcome!. A suggestion. Go with high mineral content to eliminate the need to have bad surprises. Adapt soil for high air relative humidity and extreme stormes in local statistics. Granular sliting.

This came at such a good time for me, my Monroe has been in the rain for 4days now but its still soft..the stem feels ok but i see few aerial roots. It also rains mostly at night and above 30°c in the mornings 😭 i think i should chop my Monroe 😢 thank you so much for this video!
@TheseSucculentBuddies
@TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад
Yes, I think it may be time to chop it if it does not firm up at all. The good thing about chopping is if it turns out it's not rot, the old stem can grow you new babies. 😊💚

Thank you so much for this video, I’m having rot problem and this tough me want I needed now I need a great soil mix for Jacksonville, Florida. Hot and very humid and it rains every day at 3 any suggestion’s
@blushforbreakfast
@blushforbreakfast 3 года назад
I’m getting them a lot too! Especially now that it’s super hot! If they look fine and no leaves fall out, I just let them grow new roots (aerial), then I add soil so the new roots can cling onto it.
@TheseSucculentBuddies
@TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад
Yes, I've done that too with some that I never noticed. But sometimes, the rot can travel up, so I just cut it if I catch it. I leave the parts with aerial roots and just plant the parts with roots in the soil. 😊
@blushforbreakfast

Aww... thank you so much Jennifer! I really appreciate that. 🙏 when this happened to me in my beginner days as well, I could not find any information on it. Everything just talks about overwatering. If you try 50-75% pumice or perlite and the rest organic , you may be able to prevent the rot in summer . My pots with more perlite/pumice and less potting soil did better for me this year . But the same plants with more potting soil rotted easier . And some rotted regardless. It was rainy her this year . And so hot . 🥵
@TheseSucculentBuddies
@TheseSucculentBuddies 2 года назад
Thank you! I'll try that when I have time to re-pot. Scared to repot coz it's been raining daily but hot. Weird coz my echeverias are holding up this year, especially the chubbiest ones, but sedums are struggling. 🤔

Hello Christine! My echeveria has black down in the leaves.What’s the cause and what to do. Thank you
@TheseSucculentBuddies
@TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад
Hmm... that's happened to me to before and honestly never really found the cause. If there are no bugs, my best guess based on my experience is intense heat. A form of sunburn hitting the more tender parts of the leaves causing them to turn dark and fall off eventually. Maybe provide it with some shade during the afternoon... 😊

Thank you so much for the tip! I have checked my garden centers. Unfortunately, the gravel they all have available are too big to use for soilmix I use in pots. Hopefully they stock up on the right size soon. I want to try your DIY like... masato soil mix you showed in one of your videos. 😊

thank you so much for this video, i have this going on with a few plants and i need to check them. also a question for you, when they rot like this does it make the soil toxic? or can i plant something else in the pot with the same soil?
@TheseSucculentBuddies
@TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад
Honestly I used to just throw the soil away. But now I just leave it. If other succulents are in the pot, I simply take out the rotten one. If it's just one that rotted and you have an empty pot, then I throw the soil away. Thanks so much for stopping by and watching dear! 😊🙏💚
