I rather like to think that despite the early losses of Galaxy class ships, not a single one, not even of the 'crash built' Galaxies, was lost during the Dominion war. That the class eventually exonerated itself as a power house worthy of being the titanic flagships of the Federation.
Depends on the version. The one I think of and have loved long before Star Trek. Is the one that's faster than the Enterprise. Gets shot up/at more times than a very well known heavily modified Corellian YT-1300 freighter.
@@jonmcgee6987 I think in the original 1978 movie that one gets heroically destroyed too. But yeah if its in the series, I'd serve on a wave motion cannon equipped Yamato. Except as a CO, they tend to die.
considering when the thing with the Yamato-D would have happened, it would have been an interesting trek episode to watch the Enterprise D and the Yamato-E end up working together to finish off the Yamato-D. The episode, in fact, could have been called "Yesterday's Yamato".
I really like how you reconciled the conflicting registry numbers of the Yamato, it's a real shame her streak of bad luck ultimately ended up destroying her.

Thank you for the awesome video. It shows there were more Hero Galaxy Starships beside the Enterprise, All of the Galaxy class ships did great things during there tour of service and beyond. It take a Fleet to protect the Federation.
No love for the Odyssey? While I always loved the Galaxy class, I always thought they made a TERRIBLE mistake in making the Nova class small and science based with light weaponry. Make her larger like the Galaxy is and with decent armaments and that ship EASILY could have had it's own show. Gorgeous lines on that ship.
The Galaxy class as with many classes reflects a philosophy of family as crew. Space isn't nice and family doesn't belong on a potential warship. More Defiant class please lol
These were great. Is so interesting to get some history and flesh out the universe even more. Kind of wish I could have seen the USS Dauntless and the vesuvi incident here. I absolutely love bridge commander as a kid.
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics whoa...i never doubted your ability. I was just remembering the second season episode with the Yamato in it (fake ship of course) with the earlier registry number. This means it had to have been changed AFTER the Enterprise encountered Nigelum. And it would be Starfleet's way to sweep a scandal under the rug by assigning a new registry to smooth things out. In fact the Yamato name was always attached to sketchy yet powerful ships since WWII. It's a shame the name was dropped altogether after the Iconian incident.
Could you do a video on total starfleet strength? For the amount of space that the Federation has to patrol and defend, they perpetually appear understrengthed and underresourced. Even just for Earth, navies have to account for regular repairs and maintenance... how much more so for a space fleet. Even the number of galaxy class vessels should be far greater.
Yes I know this is alpha canon beta canon history, but here is my beta canon take on a galaxy class ship. Here is my penny's worth of why I think the U.S.S. Dauntless NCC-71879 is the 6th of the original Galaxy class ship to be contructed, as the Challenger didnt come into canon until Voyager episode Timeless. The Dauntless has its own beta canon history in the Bridge Commander handbook as well, it was comissioned in 2365, the Challenger was comissioned in 2370. As we know we know of the Galaxy (the prototype) the Odyssey, Venture, Yamato Enterprise D - but nothing on that illusive 6th, so that is why I think that even though the 6th isn't mentioned I think the Dauntless fits the job. (And if anybody has had the chance to read the Captains Manual that came with Star Trek Bridge Commander, page 40, the history of the Dauntless is there to read) I won't post the entire page of the ship's history here, sufficed to say it survived the Dominion war and had earned its own reputation in its history of service. But I know I oculd have made a stronger case but this ship is a totally beta canon vessel, and the Challenger was brought into service much later on than the original 5 we know of... And we also know that as well as the original 6 ships to be built there were also 6 Galaxy class spaceframes built and put into storage for later use should the situation have deemed it, so this could explain why we were able to see more Galaxy class ships in the Dominion war at such short notice as the base frames were already completed thus shortening build time on them, especially in war time. We also see as well Galaxy class ships still being constructed in that lovely opener we got from Voyager episode Relativity - by far one of my favourite opening of a trek episode, The Venture is the first Galaxy class we see on sceen with the phaser arrays on top of the warp nacelles as well, if I recall correctly at the end of Way of the Warrior, it it s pity that the other galaxy class ships we see in the fleet battles weren't kitted out that way too, I mean most of the ones built during the Dominion war left docks with a majority of their intewrnal structures unfinished, but they could have installed the extra weapons on the ship for offense and defense (this was probably a CGI issue i would imagine with the base model being a bit easier to replicate than a sort of one off we saw at the end of an episode) Also, the Venture under Captain Dawson makes an appearance in Bridge Commander as well. I am sorry but it is one of my favourite star trek games I played when it first released and to this day it is going to have to be a fantastic game that knocks that off of my number 1 favourite trek game to play. The Magellan I honestly hadn't heard of that being a Galaxy class ship until I looked up the galaxy class in Memory Alpha, so this could also have been that illusive 6th vessel to have been constructed as well I just wanted to put my thoughts out there, as alot of the Galaxy class ships we seen in the Dominion fleet battles are literally unnamed unless in dialogue so we know that the Venture and Magellan both participated in those as well, if I recall, Sisko said that those two ships were in too tight, or something along those lines, but orders couldnt be given as the Dominion forces were blocking their communications - thought I could be totally wrong as I am taking a guess from my own memory here, and the Galaxy itself was a participant in the battle at Chintoka, taking heavy damage to its secondary hull. I enjoyed this much anticipated video, and honestly never gave a second thought to the Magellan until today, so I learned something new too. Keep up the great work you are doing, and of course a big thankyou for taking the time to create suc content.
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics dude you don't have to say thank you to anyone, your the person who is making these fantastic "Tri-canon" videos, we thank you for your work. 💖
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics yes, I know. I didnt know what to call the strips besides the " galaxy dreadnought nacelle strips" since I dont think they have an official title.
Thank you, man! I've been looking forward to this. I was wondering if you knew if the Yamato name was in tribute to the show Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers)? I've heard that it was for a long time and have never been able to find out one way or the other.
If you ask Mike Okuda, the name came from the Japanese Battleship of WW2... Rick Sternbach however says it was to honor the anime, though later recanted saying he doubted that to be true... So Id say it was probably after the WW2 Battleship :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics To be fair, in the anime fits name from the WWII battleship, so directly or indirectly, it would end up being named after the battleship. Unless they named it Yamato after the province.
Thats not how things work... Things are not named indirectly after anything, things are named to pay homage or Directly after something... In this case the WW2 Battleship...
Yeah and? That doesnt mean the ship in Star Trek was named after the Anime Ship, Named After the WW2 Ship... It just means both shows named their ships after the WW2 one!
Maybe in future videos we can hear about the Excalibur 26517-A. (I made sure to look that up in the event my memory was in its usual faulty state. Not too far off, this time.)
poor yamato, the ship deserved better. at least the venture turned out better. magellan had a better life than what it was named after. 1200 something-th like
I really love these videos, but there’s one thing that’s bugging me about the 3D models you’re using… the pattern of which window lights are on or off is symmetrical. It would be very unusual for that to happen for “real”, since who’s in which rooms (and isn’t currently sleeping, meditating, or otherwise wanting the room dark) is semi random and would determine which lights were on. It’s not a _huge_ issue, and I don’t know if it’s one you can even fix with your resources, but once I noticed it I couldn’t unsee it 😂 happy Pride/IDIC Month! 🖖 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 💙💖🤍💖💙
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Well, if you do, and you plan to use a custom model for what the Ark Royal looks like post Iconian war, i got a sovereign build in STO that might interest you.
Wondering what that sexy ship you used for the yamato d was? Looks like a concept sketch for the Ambassador but I'm guessing there's more info on it somewhere? I can't find anything on Google sadly. Cool vid!
The Galaxies always seemed underpowered on screen. Granted, it probably was due to SFX budgets, but I can only think of a handful of scenes where the D, or actually ANY ship, fires more than 1 phaser beam or torpedo spread at once. Then again, few franchises DO show a fully angered capital ship cutting loose, mostly they show chess battles: you shoot at me, then I shoot at you. WHERE is the planet-scouring firepower ever shown in Trek? The Klingon-DS9 fight is probably Trek's closest.
I didnt miss it, it simply doesnt fit the criteria of this video. IE This video is all about confirmed Galaxy Class starships mentioned in Alpha Canon... The USS Madison, though mentioned, has never been identified as a Galaxy Class starship in Alpha Canon, so it wasnt included!
No, why would I? This video is about the CANON, Beta Canon histories of Galaxy Class starships... That means, Starships we KNOW in Alpha Canon to exist!
I prefer the version of the Yamato was just a rebuild of her original hull. Given a much better engine. A main gun that makes the Death Star's super lazer look like a potato gun. In one scene it destroyed 2 galaxies by accident. And another when it was aiming for an enemy fleet. It took out the fleet missing the flagship and wiping out a small group of planets that happened to be in the line of fire.
The USS Odyssey sub type looks like a mid point between the Galaxy design era and the Sovereign-class era that replaced it. Kind of like how the Ambassador Class was effectively the tail end of Excelslor and Constitution 23 century starship design with the first implementation of the future standards of 24th century technology. With the first version of the compact warp nacells with the first units having both the excelsior top strip and the side strip installed during testing the Enterprise C a later production ship had the top field generator removed and covered with blue hull plating with the penent put on it. Late in it's production they did make a Galaxy style update sub class that was closer.to Admral Probert's original design proposal used to test the integration of Galaxy language components on smaller classes and use in retrofit to existing ships. The primary class hull was chosen due to Starfleet shipyards not having the component integration ability for that complex a hull in the timeframe the admralty needed to present the first ship to the council. Leading to a more Connie trbute with excelsior touches on it . the only remaining part of the original design left was the bridge assembly with the levels below the bridge pod being unique to the class and later being used by Galaxy design classes it contains life pods and the main shuttle bay. Possibly the first ship to have a aft shuttle bay under the main bridge at opt the saucer section.
Jeffrey, you just tried to post links in the channel, this is not allowed by channel rules... So I deleted ALL the comments before they were posted... Instead, Ill respond here... Ive done extensive research and dont need to read Memory Beta... As I've said in previous videos, I take the things that make sense to weave together a narrative... It's my choice as it's my video... And the nonsense that Every ship in the fleet gets a Yamato, just doesnt fit with reality or canon... Thats why Beta Canon ISNT canon at all, rather just a meaningless collection of imaginings that always contradict! And if you had actually bothered to research the Beta Canon on ALL those nonsense Yamatos, you'd see EXACTLY why I wouldnt use them, again due to contradiction with canon and each other! Take care
No, for 2 reasons... First, These videos are all about the Beta Canon Histories of established ALPHA Canon Galaxy Class Starships... Second (And More Importantly) New Frontier will be getting it's OWN dedicated videos!
Well a) who says the Galaxy Class is their best starship? b) Who says they limited themselves to only a dozen of them, given that Canon tells us during the Dominion War there were whole wings of Galaxy Class starships? And finally c) Even scifi stories have to obey simple laws of reality or else they just seem unbelievable... IE The time and resources it takes to make a starship... You cant just wake up one day and have thousands of the class at your beck and call...
No.... These videos are for CANON starships only... That means Galaxy Class starships that were mentioned on Screen in an episode or movie form by the owners of Star Trek... Not for Beta Canon starships, as Im sure you know, they are meaningless... As nothing in Beta Canon actually happened... By anchoring these videos with ACTUAL ships that are Galaxy Class, it gives them a little more validity as Beta Canon in itself is often contradictory and really just fan service! :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics I don't want to contradict you too badly, but your video is using Beta canon. The hood (Galaxy-class) is a beta canon starship. it has been mentioned in the star trek novel "Station Rage"
Well yes, it's the Beta Canon histories of ALPHA Canon starships, as I said above... The USS Hood in Alpha Canon (TNG Era) is an Excelsior Class starship! So you're not contradicting, you're simply not grasping the criteria for the video is all :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics bridge commander's (pc game) dauntless (ncc-71879) would have earned an honorable mention at least. she was also a galaxy
No, because as the videos said, this is a video about only CANON starships, not Beta Canon! That was the criteria, the history of a starship seen (or mentioned) on an actual show... There was no Galaxy Class Dauntless ever mentioned... Please pay better attention in the future to avoid such mistakes!
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics i watched the video again, paid attention, counted 4 times "beta canon" spoken and saw it one time writen. not one time is sthg like "only canon ships" mentioned. but, you know what? i'm already tired of this argument, i just stated i gave you no thumb up (didn't give you one down either). accept it and save your teaching tone for someone else
