I guess the problem with having the rubber first bullet and then the lethal bullet is the human error factor. I imagine you'd have situations where someone forgets they don't have the rubber bullet loaded. Thinking they had the rubber bullet, they may actually be willing to shoot sooner and they end up killing someone when they thought they were just going to deter them
Also, under the horrific threat of rape, I prefer for women to have the option to make the attacker consider if pressing ahead with the attack is worth their lives.
I don't know Annelise's background, and I appreciate her right to express her thoughts on this, but it appears she's never seen or understood true tragedy in this regard. Her sense of security and trust in people, bad people, criminals, and the government is skewed. Not everyone is for life. Some want death and mayhem, and they will have it any way they can make it work. That's why the background checks are in place and the laws are in place that we currently have, so that as many of those bad apples can be weeded out as is possible. Mistakes get made, and bad apples do slip through, but you don't punish the whole of society and not let all "the good people" be able to fully protect themselves and their families, because those really bad apples will still get their hands on weapons of destruction and they will cause their death and mayhem, and even more so when they know the good people aren't properly armed. It appears she is not fully considering the criminal aspect of the criminals being fully armed and the innocent not being as protected as they could be and are legally allowed to be. One of the major reasons we as a country have not been ground invaded is because our enemies know our citizens and population are armed, not just the military and law enforcement. The people are armed. It's a huge deterrent not just to the criminals, but also to potential invading countries. I love going into a restaurant or church service and seeing multiple people armed. I know myself and my family are safer for it. Great interviews Genay! I'm really enjoying listening through all of these videos. I love seeing great debates as well. I'm all for listening to all sides of a topic, without the arguing, but rather great debate. It helps to learn and see all potential angles, which helps us all to get a better perspective on our own thoughts and processes.
I think she is against the always tragic loss of life from any weapon. She and everyone else just focuses on ARs and the like due to media coverage and their focus.
With all due respect to your friend, I think she is being a little bit naive and I do not mean that to belittle her opinion. It’s important to understand the reason for the 2nd amendment to exist. I don’t believe that she is being very serious about wanting the first option to be “non lethal”. I WANT lethal force on the table as an option. A person needs the ultimate ability to say “NO” to anyone who would exert their will over you or take your life.
