Years ago I used to do contract work for a few dealerships in my area, the Nissan store still used these locks on the windows of their used cars. They'd usually stay on overnight and it wasn't uncommon that I'd show up before they started their day so I could get setup and inventory this weeks work. One day I noticed they had a box on a fairly new (at the time) maxima, the first generation that had the proximity keys. I walk up to the car thinking surely they're not that dumb. But they were, I was able to hit the button on the door, unlock said door grab the locked box from the window, start the car and drive it directly up in front of the sales floor where a very confused looking sales manager was standing. They stopped using lock boxes all together not long after that lol
@@lankymaccrazyhair264 when this thing was still in use the lock picking universe probably hadn't figured out how to tension it in order to pick it. That was probably it's biggest strength and the fact that you have to manually turn the cylinder in between core positions.
Nice work. Supra makes multiple types of boxes some older one with push buttons a-f and some with numbers. Also they make an old lockbox with the dial just like school combination locks. Would be cool to see those done as well. Thanks for making these vids.
Whoa brother it's crazy to see how your channel has grown. Admittedly I haven't watched your stuff for a couple of years at this point. I actually haven't even accessed this account for a couple years. That being said, coming back to it, I'm happy to see how your channel has flourished.
Yes there is something very relaxing about lock picking. The small mechanical noises, the clicks, the tools, the experiences. You can literally watch his videos @ twice the speed without noticing it but you're loosing that ASMR effect.
"This lock was designed specifically for use in..." SUPRAS! 'Portable key safes over 50 years ago for real estate.' Mission failed - we'll get 'em next time.
CableTV lockbox in my old condo had this core on it to stop people from adding splitters they weren’t paying for. Never got around to picking it, but bypassed it by wedging the panel door open a bit and using a thin blade to spin the locking nut off the back of the actuator. Easy.
@@tomherron4334 I don't get this, if they are gonna remove them at night, store them and know which car each one was on.. why not just store the keys? this is lots of unnecessary work and if well organized they can find the key fast.
Huh. Most dealerships around here just leave the doors unlocked during the day so customers can get in and try the seats out but you have to go find a salesperson if you want to hear the engine because the keys are in back. Also the cars are parked so that simply driving one off is difficult without the cooperation of at least three others even if you had the key.
Not that this has any bearing on the subject, but Supra is and has been owned by General Electric for some time now. The new lock boxes are more less computer controlled. I've had to cut a couple of them open, because they can become jammed. Good times with a 4 inch angle grinder. :-)
What I was in real estate the new boxes would have a battery die and the only way to remove them was destructively. Fortunately that was covered by Supra.
My dads bedroom door lock is serverly flawed. I took a paper clip. Straightened it out. Took a small flat head. And pushed up all the prongs. Then turned then unlocked.
I found a supra lockbox with a huge flaw.. it's a blue colored supra, but a simple bump on the bottom of the housing will cause the latch to fail. Feel free to contact me if you want me to send it out to ya
I know I'm late; but nobody picks them. They take a 3/8" bit and go straight thru the aluminum of the camlock. Takes about 10 seconds with a cordless drill.
2009 I was 20. I worked at a car dealership that used that same exact lock box. They left car keys in it over night. People would cut that box off the window. Then come back a month later to steal a brand new challenger or ram
I watch Phil but I'm also a long time lockpickinglawyer viewer so it's disappointing when Phil uses him for so many secret links as I've always seen them already. I guess it's good exposure though.

I have one of these it has a metal door covering lock and I have no key I guess I can try this I doubt I’ll get it 😂. Also have a similar smaller one of a different brand.
Fouth time, Phil, Fouth video about Keys? What are you trying to accomplish? Unlocking our stupidity? Closing the door to our curiosity?? O_o I'm certain you're reading the comment section right now and laughing all the way to the bank with this.
Kennedy's Locksport i understand what they are for, i never seen one used in the tri-state, californian, florida and a few other states i frequent regularly.
Yes, their reputation is indeed a formidable one. But the general image of them, that they are impossible to pick, is totally unjustified. They are good but locks like Assa Twin, or Evva's MCS are tougher locks to NDE, no doubt. I include Protec II in this too, their latest lock.
Emergency keys, elevator keys... Knox box is most popular some places use supra boxes for fire department access. They generally have a better core then these car dealership ones though. Knox box uses medeco.
