Your videos have shifted enormously. Love the diversity. Thanks you showing us this part of the world. The omo valley reminded me of high school lessons. 🙂
Lovely 🥰 😘! Dave and Trace, you are truly inspiring and as Ethiopian 🇪🇹 I should thank you for sharing your experiences in this beautiful land with the whole world!
Wow, am impressed. Good for you both! This is a dream come true. Wish I could travel this way, but never had the means nor the courage while leaving in Addis..
Wow!!! This video is amazing! I cannot wait to visit Africa for the first time later this year! My husband is from Kenya and I am so exited to visit his home country. Thank you so much Dave & Tracey for making these amazing videos!!!!!
You guys never cease to amaze me with your professional and amusing vlogs. I'm looking forward your next trips.. Arba Minch, Hawassa, Gondar, Bahir Dar, and maybe Harer (people feed hyenas) 😃
@wow - very nice. Thanks a lot for showing this other & "uniquely more African" part of southern Ethiopia. PS: many of the tribes in the southern borderlands of Ethiopia also extend into northern Kenya, northern Uganda, South Sudan & Somalia. But & obviously, those in Ethiopia tend to be far less affected by foreign influences [Arabs', highland Ethiopians', Muzungus'/Europeans'] - for now. There are many Christian & Islamic missionaries hovering around these tribes to convert them. In that sense, these are literally "the last authentically African tribes". And, the Omo river is the main source of water for Lake Turkana [ex- Lake Rudolf]. About 90% of the waters that feed & sustain this "largest desert lake in the world" come via the Omo river. The rest of the waters come via the Turkwell river that rises in the Kenyan highlands. Lake Turkana is one of the largest lakes in Africa & even the world. It is the 24th largest in the world with the dimensions of: 290 km (180 miles) long & 32 km (20 miles) wide. Over the past decade or so, Ethiopia has built 3 major hydro dams in the upper sections of the Omo river & some of the electricity from these is exported to Kenya. But, there are fears that the dams will cause major & negative environmental impacts by reducing the amount of water that flows into Lake Turkana & into the lower sections of the Omo river where most of those unique tribes live. The lake could easily be reduced into a series of small & shallow puddles if Ethiopia takes-out more water from the Omo river, say, for irrigation. Many of these tribes also depend on Lake Turkana as the source of fish to supplement their sorghum/millet-farming & cattle/goats/camels herding livlihood. Nagaatti. Best wishes.
For me it's those adorable kids adorning you with face paints...and the man with a hearty infectious laugh! 😊 Samburus relate more with tea than coffee. Otherwise milk is their staple drink across the demographics
Amazing video! One of the best I’ve seen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, just a correction. It was mentioned that the Hamar people is the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia at some 65,000. The Hamar people are not even 1% of the national population. A number of ethnic groups are well over a million strong. The largest group would be the Oromo people followed closely by the Amhara people.
I try another one: to ravel us to live .... or is it to live is to travel. 🤔 Amazing face painting. And such a great interaction with the kids. Amazing video to watch 😋
This was a great video..I love how you interact with children, how you lovingly blend...those face paintings look so good...I don't like making comparisons but there's a travel couple; Coco boy and Coco girl who only travel to villages knowing that kids will be following them, and maybe ask/ borrow money.i don't mean that you should always give ,but why do they always record and keep talking about the begging issue...it's ok not to give and not to talk about it.🙏you guys are awesome
The karo tribe of Ethiopia could be another Nilotic tribe. From what I’ve seen from this video, they somehow resemble the Turkanas of Kenya. So many similarities. And by the way, that place that you guys bought beers, is it true that it is cheaper than a soda? Another group from Kenya visited that place and they said that beer is way cheaper there.
Hi, guys! I contacted your tour operator (View Ethiopia), and I don't know if I should post publicly here. I sent you an email. Can you guys help me with my question? 😀
We saw you email! ✅ The government does not let people hold USD even tho it is much more valuable for them then the local currency. So if he is asking to do an international transfer to a family member of his in the US, we did it too and trust that he will show up once you land in Jinka. 👍🏼
