Neurosurgeon's have the eye's of a hawk, the heart of a lion and hands of a lady. I have come to fully believe this after my sister had multiple craniotomy's because of having glioblastoma (may she RIP) and now myself having a craniotomy for two out four anyerisms that was treated by clipping. My surgeon and his surgical team saved my life. I have so much respect and gratitude for him.

@@wholeNwon I think a patient could care less as long as you are a competent neurosurgeon anyways in order to get into neurosurgeon residency you must have amazing achieving grades and show major interest because every residency program in the country only accept 3-5 residents per year for neurosurgery. its mind blowing how similar I am with him and how much different we are at the same time and that is in how we both wanted to become a neurosurgeon but I wasn't strong enough to push furrowed when life got in the way. For some time now I was petty about it and maybe still.. but for some reason this video was really comforting! I study optometry now in an OD program and I hope I find passion in it as much as I have in neurosurgery since med school is long gone now. Great video thanks!

This guy is GOALS. Just the way he carries himself. I can 💯 see him in radio. I would listen to his podcast. Soooo bright and this is going to sound weird but there is no tension in his voice or body posture 😊

Neurosurgery is very romanticized. I'll be a resident next year and wanted to do neurosurgery since I started med school. But my practical year (I did 4 months in neurosurgery) opened my eyes. I really don't want to ruin my life for my job. I've talked to many neurosurgeons and the majority said that they regret doing it. No free time, no time for the kids, constant stress and work and finally health problems that come with it later on. And to be honest, the surgeries aren't nearly as interesting as I thought them to be anyways. Most of the time you're just more or less sucking out brain tissue with a "small vacuum cleaner", it's oftentimes not even precise or interesting work. So I guess it's a nope for me, even though the brain is super fascinating.

Why do u always post under anything to do with neurosurgery it’s like your trying to convince yourself it’s bad most people in this field don’t care about anything expect saving lives
@Q-Bits8
@Q-Bits8 2 года назад
@@tayz7850 To educate. People are delusional about this. I just want people to think twice. Neurosurgeons don't save as many lives (brain tumors in adults are mostly uncurable and the surgery just gives them half a year or a year more. And spinal surgery is mostly not life-threatening) as other specialties like trauma-surgery, interventional neuroradiology or cardiology. Man even internal medicine.

I can second this. Neurosurgery is a beautiful specialisation but it comes with a lot of sacrifice

These people are amazing life savers the strength and courage it takes to be them is unmatchable. I never really knew much about neurosurgery until my partner got a very rare brain tumor called craniopharyngioma and needed a bifrontal craniotamy to remove it took along time to recover she had 28 stitchs but is recovered great now unfortunately there's still 10% of the tumor there but hoping radiotherapy will help fingers crossed. Thank you to all the neurosurgeon's I now look up to them as hero's.
