If you want to know a plane, know it’s connections and pipes. Love your videos and I keep rewatching these to really hammer it in my head. Your explanations are amazing. Thank you as always Captain

13:37 The landing gear transfer valve is activated when the #1 engine rpm drops below _50% N2_. The transfer valve also operates on the ground when the alternate nosewheel steering system is activated and the nose gear is on the ground.

Love how the NG has accessible elec pumps for A and B. The a320 only has 1 accessible elec pump (yellow)

Great informative video...thanks! One thing I'm confused about though is why landing gear extend would cause momentary low pressure since all you're doing is pushing out the unlock actuators and allowing the gear to freefall. This is drastically less flow demand than gear retracting.

Good question. The Landing Gear does not simly freefall into position. That only happens during alternate gear extension. Instead it extends by hydraulic pressure, gravity and air loads.

As a command trainee on the 737, your videos are simple and makes it a wonderful learning and recap tool. Kudos to you and your team and keep up the good work!

12:50 but what is the reason behind requiring the flaps not to be up in order to activate the standby PTU

omg now i know why i got hydraulic overheat light on after landing with low fuel quantity
@juliashenandoah3965

So an engine hydraulic pump is always running as long as the turbine accessory gearbox is running, and switching it off only leads to the hydraulic circuit getting isolated from the rest of the system. Hm the big question is, what to do when thy hydraulic pump is running hot and the pump overheat light goes on, or when a circuit is leaking and therefore running hot because of a lack of fluid and dry-running pump impeller? Is there really no way to turn it off somehow? And interesting a PTU that is not barking like the Airbus version and a hidden third hydraulics system! Thanks for the fascinating technical details.

Thanks for ur sharing, making this video must cost u lots of time I guess. And could u pls make a video on landing manipulation techniques on B737? Thx

Hello 737NG Driver (Emanuel) I have a question about the Electrical Pumps. I flew many times in the 737NG in real life and before we entered the aircraft, we always could hear tthat he Hydraulic and fuel pumps were already running. Especially in the cabin the fuel pump is very noticable. My question is, do you hear on the ground the Hydraulic and Fuel pumps in the flightdeck when you turn them on? If yes, do you hear the sound loud or quiet? Also I want to ask you about the Standby Hydraulic System in the flightdeck. I heard in a 737 classic how it was turned on in the flightdeck and it was very loud. It sounds like an old refrigerator. Is the Standby pump also very load in the 737NG when you turn it on in the flightdeck? Thank you very much for your answer.

Hi, you hear neither of the three sounds on the flight deck in the NG. Even with the door open they are not audible. For the hydraulic standby pump I can of course only speak from experience in the sim and not the actual aircraft.

This system would not be certified today, grandfathered in.

Hm the A320 system is not so different from that. This was the way hydraulic systems were built in the seventies till nineties :) The only difference in modern systems (like A380 and A350) is a dual hydraulic with 5000 instead of 3000 PSI and electrical backup actuators on all rudder ailerons etc.
