Wow...i know this was supposed to make me laugh, but I did shed a tear. You see, Ally McBeal was one of the few shows my mom I agreed upon; we'd watch together, LIVE (NO DVR) every week, back when appointment TV was a thing. My mom passed from cancer 2 years ago so I don't get to watch with her anymore, but this brought back such great memories!
Basically same story for me. My best friend who also loved it also passed on. Came here to see what others were saying because I have no one to talk to about it.
Similar story here. My mom has advanced dementia, and when I saw this, for a second I forgot my mom’s state and thought I should send this to her. This show was a weekly bond for us and it will always hold a special place in my heart. So sorry for your loss.❤️🩹
This brought back memories of the 90‘s being a young, free & single 😊 girl with a good job, my own appartment and car & putting myself 1st 😮!!! Why do we get to see Friends reruns soooo much (I do love love love it too!) but never have seen Ally McBeal since the original airing??? BRING BACK THE GOOD OLDIES I say!! ❤
Calista looks AMAZING, I love her hairstyle and dress so much. She’s as vibrant as her. Can’t wait to see her performance in Feud: Capote v. The Swans.
@@JeromeGentes I was blown away by her Martha, in part because it's a role I never could have imagined her doing. Zachary Quinto as George was bloody impressive as well. I've seen quite a few productions of WAoVW? over the years, but this one and the Steppenwolf one (with Tracy Letts and Amy Morton) are the two standouts.
@@mkygod If you hear how Portia talks about her involvement in the show you understand why she isn't there. I always got the feeling that she didn't experience the fame that she expected from her role in the show. Or what she said was true. 🤷🏿♂️ We'll never know.
Wow ! She looks amazing , loved loved that show they all look good ! Calista is beautiful inside and out always a lady - Harrison was very lucky to have found her - love him too - ❤
This dance was the best part and I loved watching every episode of Ally McBeal. She still looks fantastic and so does Harrison Ford. They make a lovely couple.
Ally McBeal is not a drama, it's the timeless nostalgia that defines the era of golden Hollywood. Calista, Greg, Peter and Gil, bringing back so many amazing memories indeed❤!!
I am delighted to see how many mothers and daughters watched this show together. Same for my mom and I. We were obsessed! In fact, my sisters and I rehearsed this dance and performed it for my mom’s 60th birthday! Please reboot this magical show!!!
@missleacyatheart Lightning in a bottle - Great way to put that! It really was! From the first 10 minutes it engaged you enough to buy in - for better or worse for the run of the show. Like ( for me) Buffy or Northern Exposure. Immediately likeable!
Yes Friends, Ally Mac Beal and Malcolm in the middle were really lightning in a bottle for a lot of people. They don’t do that kind of shows anymore most shows are just so depressing and dark these days.
My bestie and I would call each other at the half-way mark of "Ally McBeal" every week to do an analysis and recap. We were obsessed. I now own the box set and really need to take some time to binge watch every ep to see if it holds up.
I have the box set too...plus the soundtrack CDs ( including the Christmas one ). Still an all time favorite show, despite a couple things that haven't aged well ( mostly the storyline with Mark dating a transwoman... )
My favorite moment... I miss this show so much. It came on when I was in high school. It was my 90s! Such a great show, and the cast still looks great!
It’s a bit spooky for me, as having not watched it for 25 years, I bought the complete DVD boxset and have been working my way through each evening. And you know what? It’s better than I remembered, TV really was better then. Now it’s made for people with ADHD. The show is touching, wholesome, quirky and often laugh out loud funny. It has heart, and Vonda Shephard’s jazz and soul music is sheer heaven. Again, TV created for a classier time. I was in my teens when it first aired, and so glad I can rewatch it as an proper adult now. This Emmy segment was wonderful, I feel quite tearful. I had thought she had shunned acting and would never do something like this in a million years… so wonderful to hear her speak and with such a positive energy. Thank you Emmys, thank you Calista.
I absolutely LOVED THIS!! WHAT A TREAT! BEST PART OF THE SHOW! To see this cast together again, no less in that iconic scene, was nothing short of AWESOME! 😊
It is such a wonderful show striking a great balance between quirky comedy often revolving around mental health struggles and a law firm drama with hot topic cases and ethical conundrums. I wish the She-Hulk writers had watched it because this was their perfect blue print they could have adapted. A quarter century old show that was still more progressive, inclusive and feminist than the pandering flat garbage we are getting from Disney today.
How nice to see part of the cast. Ally McBeal is an amazing show. It holds very well even today in my opinion. I'm glad to have all the seasons on DVD. It's such a good feel show and yet it makes me think about a lot of issues. And the musical parts are magical to me.
Started watching this show with my mom when I was only 5, I didn't understand many things but I absolutely loved the sweet and quirky Ally... Wonderful memories... Nostalgia hits hard... I cried seeing the cast doing this dance after what? 27 years...?
This brings back so many memories! I remember watching the pilot episode and I went OMG - this will be a hit! And from then on, my university classmates would talk about the previous night’s episode before our class started. Loved this show and still do! Ahead of it’s time ❤
It felt like seeing old friends, those three actors embodied characters I watched weekly and wondered about. They were and are still, so good. Its sad now to realize that I completely forgot about them as actors. I loved them as actors wearing their characters and as a group of actors working together. It was a great show and its great the Emmys honored them.
Delightful show. We have to thank the USA for the movies and especially the TV shows they blessed us with. Those talented writers and actors who brought shows like these to life. God bless you all.
Aw, this brings back happy memories. Such a well written and acted show. The music by Vonda Shepard was so great too. Made me laugh so much. I learned so many words from this programme. I used to write the whole sentence down in a notebook and look up the words in the dictionary! Lovely to see you all again. You all look great. Lots of love from Ireland. ❤
My favorite episode was when Dylan McDermott crossed into Ally McBeal from The Practice - my favorite show during that time. . Calista and Gill Bellows also crossed into the Practice for a serious case
My wish for Ally if it was all real. That she reconnected with Larry and married because he was the love of her life. That they settled in Detroit since his son was there...and that her daughter was ok with it as well. And they all lived happily ever after.
That incredible courtroom scene when he collapsed... and Ally letting his wife have her most precious goodbye, without needing to correct her cos she *knew* what was correct and that was so much more than enough.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is an ICONIC show. This is MY show and no other will make me feel as alive and worthy as much as this one. Ally had this crazy that I felt attracted to, always hard on herself, whimsical and a daydreamer. This show had incredible actors in it. ❤
I was in my 20's when this show aired. I loved it then and I love it now. So amazing to see this iconic moment again all set to the soundtrack of Ally McBeal (no offense to the talented Vonda Shephard) by the one & only Barry White!
Oh, and how important it was - IMHO- to RDJ's journey back to the mainstream. He was so good in it, and CF made sure people could see what he could still do, even broken. So that when he fell again - and he did; he wasn't quite there yet - he, and audiences, had proof that there was a way back in front of the camera IF he could get behind the camera together. And he did. And deserves all the praise he gets for getting there. But he never forgets the people, like CF and the 'Ally' team, who got him through to getting-there. ❤❤❤❤
@@grandiose5720 Accidents can happen, even with preparatory rehearsals. And give people a few extra years on their lives and the odds increase. But it didn't happen, thankfully.
I LOVED watching Ally McBeal!!! My husband and I never missed an episode. I would love for dramedy tv to come back. I'm not a fan of reality tv at all.
I am from India...n i thought I was the only diehard ally fan😂 . She brought alot of light n laughter in my life .loved every second of every episode. Pure entertainment n soul stirring emotions both at the same time . Her insecurities , her unique imagination, her fragility , her everything was sooo relatable.i lived her character with her in so many ways.❤❤
Loved loved loved this!! Such fond memories. And great times were the 90s. In fact, The Emmy Awards was THE best of all the other award shows this year. Well done and thank you xx 🇦🇺❤
