This is the very same Wayne Rogerson that raced an RX-2 at Bathurst back in the day. From memory he won his class at least once & all these years later, he is still ringing that rotary's neck for all it's worth. Not bad for 76 years young.

I was in the same class a st george tech with Wayne very smart fella started off with the old Bobby Morris 2 door falcon and was very quick a great talent. I feel it was somebody loss that he was not picked to race in the main game at the time.

If I ever grow up I'm going to be like this dude but I will be brapping rings around every car in the field in my rx3 coupe and pissing off my fpv pooshoot Ute cause I don't tow a caravan. Remember 15 yrs ago at Mallala race track open class, two cars would embarrass the field of cars, v8's would nearly catch these cars on the straights, but through the bends no hope in hell, these two cars were gone, a orange r100 and Datsun 1200 coupe both with 13b turbos. Rotors are the bomb, just look at le mans rotors disgraced the field of try hard race cars, go the rotor 🤙💪👊😎

impressive Mazda . to have them race a 8v l was questioning the possibility how silly that is . the Mazda is really in there for the race and matching the v8 fairly . it must be to the weight of the Mazda and power ratio ... I was wondering what they did to the engine ??? the Mazda is neat and tidy and has full interior to be noted i think a car looks that be bit more nicer with all interior that car could be driven on the road and then raced on the weekend in a event ..don't under estimate the mighty little Mazda pocket rocket .

Milk and Juice only comes in 2L but still giving V8s a run at 10k rpm....ridiculous. Rotaries just dont have the durability as the big boys (usually)

Another cheat car. The RX2 these days runs away from XU1's in historic racing. And these days the RX2 battles it out with the fastest of the Mustangs. It's bullshit. It totally rewrites history and (IMO) spoils the memories. Look, good luck to hom being 76 and enjoying his racing. But running ceramic coated parts and a 12,000 rpm redline has got NOTHING in common with the experience of racing an R100 or RE2 in 1970 or 1971 or 1972 or 1973 or 1974.... you get the picture. Even the Stuyvesant factory RX-7's in the mid-1980's didn't have that technology and had only just crept up to that redline. This must surely annoy the 6-cylinder guys and most of the V8 guys. It's a rort and it's a shame in my opinion. Our friend should enjoy his racing - God bless him - but he should be battling it out with mid-field XU-1's - and that's even stretching the history.
