Dam that must have been shit your pants scarry when that flipped on it's roof , i bet the poor guy operating it when it flipped didn't know what the hell was going on. I really hope he wasn't seriously injured.
It slid then rolled backwards.Who knows exactly why it happened. Operator claimed this mining company claimed that. If you Google cemex dragline accident you can see the court documents of the lawsuit. Operator won.
Lots of people were standing too close to those cables. Wouldn't want to be anywhere near the scrapers other than inside the ROPS, and not 100% safe there.
Stupid photographer...and evidence made me wait 13 minutes until I saw it fall and settle on the ground, but he missed the beautiful shot. He stopped filming at minute 13.
No just very very very very very very very very lucky that the machine made the company poor and didn’t have the money to scrap it so they left it after taking all the valuables and later allowed it to become a display piece
There are several Brutuses. This Marion 7820 dragline was on a mountain top in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. There is also Big Brutus in Kansas, a Bucyrus Erie 1850-B short boom shovel that is a museum. Very worth visiting.
I bet it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebuild it , it just looks like a massive pile of scrap. Does anybody know how much it cost to rebuild?????? and would it have been easier to just buy a new one ?????
