I will forever love ❤️ Jack Lord (Steve McGarret). He truly loved "The Rock" Hawaii. Continue to rest in peace with your beautiful wife. Hawaii 5-O forever 😎 ❤️ 🍷

He was the epitome of a life well lived. A US Merchant Marine during WW2 who survived in a lifeboat after his ship was torpedoed by a U-boot off the coast of Africa, an accomplished painter who at 20 sold his works to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, a singer of country/western songs who toured the rodeo circuit before his acting career took off, was offered the role of Captain Kirk for Star Trek TOS by Gene Roddenberry, loved poetry and recites poems from E.E. Cummings and Rudyard Kipling, and he was the first Felix Leiter in the James Bond movies.

A real treat to see Jack script, ride and direct the shots at once, and watch a skilled and perceptive professional at work. My father worked with Jack and said he was the hardest working man in the entertainment business.

Yep, I have heard that he was a perfectionist and not easy to work with or for. He often rode the Guest Stars hard, demanding work first and play when the episode was "in the can". That said, I have much respect for the man and I normally loathe actors, especially the self-entitled loud mouth idiots that populate today's entertainment industry.

@@cameraman655 Very well put! Jack Lord was a professional in his craft. When my mom worked at Universal Studios, she told of numerous encounters of actors that fell into the "self-entitled loud moth idiots" category. Did you ever know of a man named Dick "Richard" Glouner that worked in the cameraman industry?

Talk about perfection! Tough guy Jack Lord aka 'McGarrett, Five-0' is a perfectionist up until the end. I thank him for that and all the marvelous shows he made. It is nice to see him as himself in this manner. He will never be forgotten by me, Aloha!!

Jack Lord was a great actor, however he lived in the elite part of Hawaii, He never knew the real Hawaii.
@vrinda5303
@vrinda5303 7 лет назад
Jack spent a lot of time doing charity work for Hawaiian cultural organizations and he associated with many people who were not in Hawaii's elite. He was well-aware of the real Hawaii, having actually visited those areas. I know this from talking to people who lived there. Just because he lived in the elite section, that doesn't mean he didn't know the real Hawaii. People love to make assumptions about this man without knowing left from right.
@sandrasanders706
@sandrasanders706 5 лет назад
@@vrinda5303 in fact there was no such thing as television or film production in Hawaii. At the time people from Los Angeles had to teach people how to work on a Hollywood's set from the ground up how to do filming.. If it wasn't for Jack Lord there wouldn't be any filming of anything in in Hawaii so this stuff that you're saying isn't really true this man actually worked to make sure that actors, actresses, etc were employed..

@@sandrasanders706 What are you talking about? Did you even read my answer? I know that Hawaii didn't have a film and TV industry and Jack got it started. That has nothing to do with my answer. I said he knew the real Hawaii. Learn how to read.
@orangewelliesinc2836
@orangewelliesinc2836 3 года назад
@@sandrasanders706 Jack Lord was not the one who got the tv industry started in Hawaii. It was the creator of the show Len Freedman who came up with the idea to film a cop show in Hawaii when he was recuperating there. He had to go through a lot of red tape with local government to get the ball rolling. It was also Leonard Freeman who made sure that local actors were hired from the beginning to make the show more authentic. Jack wasn't even in the running for the role, as there were several other actors they had in mind. When the actor they eventually chose didn't work out, they asked Jack to read the script a month before they were scheduled to start filming. Jack came on board and the rest is history. He loved Hawaii and devoted his life to the state through charity work and funding. He did a lot for Hawaiian tourism but, without the hard work and vision of Leonard Freedman, Hawaii Five-0 would never have happened.

Pretty much Jack's swansong, filming the twelth and last season of 5 O. He was DONE but his ego too big to let go. Here though, it easily discernable, this was his way of saying "so long " He and his show got old QUICK that last season really bad no Danno, replaced by the awful William Smith and silly LORRIE the only female member of McG's team who was sorely out of place. The writing, acting and production values plummeted and only 19 episodes were produced, not the standard 24. The only good thing is TRUCK added to the cast played by the great MOE KEALE. Jack did produce M STATION HAWAII after that but it was a real snoozefest and not picked up. Thanks for the memories. ALOHA.
@roquefortfiles
@roquefortfiles Год назад
Sadly you are so right. I grew up with Five 0. When Dano left i was so depressed. I could feel a shift. William Smith and Lorrie were just not the same. Glad that Steve finally got Wo Fat. I remember watching "McGarrett" on the CBS late show in the early 80's. It was weird and not quite the same. Jack absolutely owned this character. Some really good acting on H5O. A high standard. That was all Jack.
