Those clips that didn't dye well.. you can order them in 4 different colours. 5038947-01 for orange 5038947-02 for black 5038947-03 for grey 5038947-04 for red
Cool build Joe! Oh no shut it down! I could feel your pain as you were tearing it back down. Looking forward to seeing more on this build. Thanks for taking us along👍
I knew it was past the edge of "ok" but I have to test these things out good before I bother sending them out to people to beat on. I don't want to waste anyone's time. Couple of fixes and it will be back together shortly. Thank you for watching.
from all the videos ive watched and forums read this should have been built by husky from the factory.. dolmar 7900 equal .. keep fine tuning that build joe so when i am ready for one, shes all figured out.. Great job Joe!!!
I think it's great . If you can make a 565 (71cc) into a 79 cc saw , and it has the horse power and torque gains needed so it competes with a 500i. As far as being able to pull a 36" bar full of 34" of Sitka Spruce or Western Hemlock. And have it last for a season of bushlin. I'll send you my 565 and have you build it !!! The factory 372 Western that came with 75 cc p&c from the factory. Would cut the same times with the same chain as the 460 Stihl. If you can beat that, your doing Great !!
Nice Project, it reminds me of my 545. when you drop the cylinder down it collides with the case at the sides near the transfercaps . Front right Side check for case clearence. Mine riched up at idle with 78 deg intake. We talked about it earlier. with stock Intake she ran good. I gave her 100 deg ex , so 18 deg of blowdown with a red barn Popup. She ran good in the woods for about 2 Tanks , so i will give her more intake again.lets see how she does! So i‘m waiting for your results. Great Video
Awesome build Joe! Certainly not a waste of time. Can't wait to see it broken in and pulling on the dyno. I really like this as a power adding option simply because the new husqvarnas don't seem to have a lot of easy "extra" power a person can get out of them.
At least it was motivating. The homeowner models are not very easy to work on. But can be found much cheaper. The 026,36,44,46 etc are all very easy to work on after the first one or two. Good luck on your 029 project!
That thing looks slick all blacked out! Better than a blacked out Stihl does 🤣. Only joking. A little. Runs great Joe! That Autotune is thinking what is going on haha.
Did you put it on the Dyno ? How does it compare to the 565 or 572 with your modified muffler ?? Is it possible to mount the carb from a 585 on it ? Im old , we used to have 2100 carbs mounted onto 266s . Super impressive for such a light weight saw. !
Great video Joe! Really liked seeing the build process here and it was great how you showed the air leak around the base. I'd like if you showed the rtv process...what kind you use, how much you put on, how quickly it should be done. I've second guessed myself a lot. Also, why don't you just machine for the gasket and keep it? It looks sooooo good! The black tank seals the deal man! I think this thing just knocked my 2258 off the podium of the best looking saw ever!
Thank you, I coat both sides and let it tack up for a minute. The design of these cylinders the Bolts clamp way back from the front edge of the transfer tunnels. I think it may habe been the muffler holding it up some. A friend suggested to slot those. I like keeping as much material on the base as I can. I have seen plenty of bases get thin and snap. With and without gaskets.
Great build Joe. I’ve got a 570Autotune, whats difference to an 570XP ? Can it be made into a big-bore 579 like this? How ? More detail on your porting, jug&piston choice, carb setup. Would be great please. Top job 👍 🇦🇺
The 565 is a great saw. Nice to see one being built up. 79cc in that package is a home run for sure. Did you do any stock dyno runs. I’m curious to know if it went over the factory 5 hp rating Thanks Joe
What's the best bang for buck Frankenstein/big bore combo for the average Joe you've found? Something that doesn't require machining, but crams a handful more CC's into a chassis.
A big bore 50cc- 261, 550, 501p, would be interesting if the cylinders aren’t too thin. That could be one versatile saw if kept at a reliable rpm level.
It would be cool to do a dyno shootout between the Jonsered 2077 and Poulan Pro 475 and Jonsered 2083 and Poulan Pro 505 to see if they put out similar power
Great Build Joe. Didnt Husky offer a non auto tune carb on some of these? It would really bother me about that scoring. I realize its a test build, but its still alot of work. Good Job!
@@MrRmh3481 for sure. Those 576's are smooth saws. Many of the new stihl saws have been available in both mtronic and standard carbs, especially right now with the chip shortage.
Maybe once its dialed in you can build a nasty big bore top end for a 562. I'd buy a ported big bore 562 with a pop up piston.. even sell it as a package
did you get all the bottom of the cylinder sleeve cut off because I know on a 550xp if you take the base gasket out you have to trim the bottom of the basically skirt of cylinder so it'll go all the way down to! Maybe that's why your base was leaking at your sealant?? maybe trim just a few thousandth off just to be sure cylinder goes down flat? just a suggestion I know you've built plenty of saws but maybe a oversight
I have ran into that before, i think the muffler may have been holding the cylinder up slightly. These 5 series all have a few spots that like to hang up after a base cut.
looking to get a 550 mark ii would like to send it to u for a reliable porting maybe add 20 percent power def one of your muffler mods that black looks amazing on that saw would be honored if I could pay u for that to. also if you have access to 550 mark ii that is new I would like to purchase everything from u. live in Northern NH not many saws available and shipping is slow
What are the main differences between the 565 and the 572? And where are they making the power in the 72 compared to the 65 , same cc is it all in the timing and carb?
Nice job Joe👍. I prefer old school Husqvarna 372XP. It's easy to get great gain, a better power weight ratio, a better result / porting effort ratio. I think that developing and playing with compact pipe Ironhorse style or similar, could bring better gain than drilling bigger bore with relative less effort. The finale product will have less vibration and design you can easy reuse.
