@Modern Classic Collectables Feel free to disagree, but it seems as if you've misinterpreted the point I was making. My statement was not about a motor being electric vs. gasoline or about the style of the car.
@@privateprivate1865 Simplicity? EVs beat ICE engine to market before ICE because they WERE simple. Engines have HUNDREDS of parts and about 70% of all that energy is LOST to heat and only a fraction goes to motivation. An electric motor has 3 basic parts and is way over 90% efficient - that is 90%+ of the power goes to the wheels immediately no waiting for a dumb engine to feel like motivating at a tiny bandwidth before it's useless again. - there's your simplicity - no WAY an ICE engine is simple compared to an EV. And if your act is together the "fuel" is free for life. I'm guessing you never took a ride in a Model S. EVs might not be for everyone but those people are going to die off real soon.🚀
@@cuda426hemi no.. my fault.. im not one of those anti EV car freaks. Im all about clean air. I just hate power locks.. too many sensor's.. i just want a basic car i can work on at home. Im a fan of the venus project if that says anything. I commented before i watched the whole video. I just liked that it doesnt appear to be flooded with exrta stuff. ☮️
Every time Jay pulls out of his garage down the center aisle past just a small portion of his collection, wow, I mean just WOW! Talk about living the dream.
Honestly, Jay Leno is an international treasure. The fact that he is recovering from his accident, persevering, and providing us with great content is a testament to his resilience and dedication.
One of the most exciting videos Jay Leno has ever made. Jay's massive corporate memory of the motor industry recognized a masterpiece when he spotted one. Congratulations to John Kendall for realizing and modernizing such a classic design and bringing all the pieces together so beautifully.
We tune these on the dyno at my work. Have had the pleasure of driving them as well. Really awesome craftsmanship too. Love them. Congrats John and the team. Great to talk to you every time you come to the shop
7fifteen... representing Wisconsin with style, class and craftsmanship. Great to see a Wisconsin hand made product showcased on this episode. #Wisco #3Lakes #KendallFam #handmade🦡🍺🧀🐄💪🚘🇺🇸
You can always tell when someone is passionate about their build! The car speaks for itself. Clean, simple and reliable!! The TRUE definition of replica! No doubt!
I love how you feature guys like this. I bet it meant the world to him, to not only have the platform but actually be allowed to talk. Well done and sick car!
Got to meet this gentleman and see this car at Elkhart Lake, Wi. last year. The video doesn’t do the car justice. The detail work on it is absolutely incredible. Fantastic to see it get such publicity.
really beautiful. the polished suspension pieces look so great exposed; watching them articulate while driving is super cool as well. stuff like this gets me so much more pumped than anything ferrari or the like is currently making.
Hope you're doing better, i was supposed to see you with Foxworthy in St. Louis, but the show was canceled because of your injuries. Glad to see you back so soon! Shout out to modern burn wards!!!
@@gustavoflorio5383 You work for him? Just curious, Gus... Been ALOT of scammers on y-tube, lately... Don't want you to be one of those scammers.......
Actually , I think the fun per dollar ratio seems pretty reasonable . The open motorcar experience would be like nothing else. Yeah, I like those gauges ,too.
@@Michael-pi8ps Ariel Atom is 120,000 u.s. $ ,in America, and it's a toy compared to this. Were I rich, I'd spend the extra 80k and have a real car, not that the Ariel doesn't look like a lot of fun, but I think "it's" the overpriced one of the two. For the price of an Ariel ,I could have a Lotus !- or two used ones !.
Jay! the way you share your knowledge in your video's with all these car's and laid back sense of humor is unmatched! just like you did with the tonight show! you always show respect for everything and everyone you have in your video's, and all of us who wait for your next video.
Such a beautiful work of art! I had never heard of the original car before. It’s like they cross bred a Lotus 7 with a Shelby Cobra. If I were Jay, my checkbook would be out at the end of that drive.
They had two of these, in process, at the Road America, Concours event in Elkhart Lake. One still natural aluminum, one red. You never saw so many grinning people pouring over a couple cars. They nailed the Roadster image from every boyhood dream.
Fantastic car, they had a specific vision and executed it brilliantly. Like an American scale super 7, or better yet the spiritual descent of Frank Kurtis' 500S roadsters. How about a show on a Kurtis 500? That would be very cool if there are any still running.
I’m a newish member of the Jay Leno car club! Many years ago whilst just coming off air at QVC US I walked passed this amazing car that had arrived outside the garage set, then Mr Leno arrived in the studio, he was friendly to all, a real gentleman. Unfortunately our paths never crossed at QVC UK. Anyways, Ive always been a petrol head, my first car was a 1949 Daimler DB18 that I pulled out of a junk yard, and this was my daily driver from the age of 17. In 2014 I found advertised on eBay the very car that started my love of vintage and classic vehicles, she is a 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 long wheelbase with a HJ Mulliner body, originally ordered for a Edinburgh based industrialist who kept her for two years, then she moved around Scotland before the outbreak of WW2. In the 1950s through to the 1980s she was owned by a company called Kingsbury Motors based in London, and they supplied cars to the film and TV industry, supplying vehicles for such iconic programmes as The Avengers and Dr Who to name just two. Our Rolls Royce was used in many iconic British TV programmes such as Dads Army, and the main car in To The Manor Born, and films such as the Secret Ceremony with Mia Farrow and Elizabeth Taylor. The car was in shocking condition after spending 16 years as a wedding car, so I took time out from QVC to bring her back from the brink, and she was working really well. But then I was struck with some mental heath issues and the car has sat in the garage for 4 years and I’d really lost confidence in my ability to drive or maintain her. Then I found this channel, and I’m not sure if Mr Leno reads the comments, but if he does I’d just like to thank him, as his enthusiasm has re lit the spark in me to be able to lift a spanner and get cracking again. Thank you Mr Leno, your a ability to lift the spirit is an amazing gift, and you use it well.
Motor vehicle department is a fn nightmare. I would buy one of these on one condition. It gets delivered to my house AFTER the manufacturer gets it through MV Dept, and then I hand over the final pymt.

@@7fifteenmotorworks293 wow Thank you for the reply. Sadly, it was more of a rhetorical question. I dis the motor vehicle dept every chance I get. Sorry to get your hopes up on becoming a customer. Your car is absolutely amazing in many ways!
When first saw it I thought of the BRM V16, then a 1950s Indy car. Either - or both! It's a great looking car, but does the job too. So well thought out and so well built. I looked up the original Wally Troy roadster and it shows what modern scanning can do. This is a true homage to the original car, but with modern mechanicals. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Beautiful cool. I always liked the look of the 50s/60s Indy cars. It reminds me of an Allard sort of. This is what I like Jay. We need more of this stuff.😉😎♥🔥😍 Happy new year.
If I could get one built then I would be seeking out A.J. Foyts permission to use his old white w/red roadster livery, I loved that car of his and would love to have his blessing
That's art on wheels . Just looking at it you instantly imagine the name of some forgotten hero from a different age. You are taken to a different way of doing things . Just really beautiful work there and the fact it's being driven on the street is even more amazing . It looks like a F1 championship car but it has a bad assed attitude..awesome
I could tell that you actually like the dude Jay because you actually give him the chance to talk lol. You two are really the same type of car guy there's no awkward silence.
This thing needs independent throttle bodies, that cast intake really kills the look, set of 8 bodies with screened trumpets would really set this engine and bay off. If I had the money to buy one of these, that would be my first addition.
@@thejerseyj5479 😁😁 that's exactly what I was thinking too. When they took that hood off I'm like I'd leave it in the garage and go for a cruise. Beautiful beautiful all around.
@@thedefenestrator2994 yeah I don't understand it, I understand their philosophy going with reliability and just using a straight stock LS3 crate, but agreed, while the workmanship is extremely nice, the engine bay is completely lackluster (even if it takes someone 5 minutes to get into it with all those Zeus fasteners lol), they make classic/vintage style LS valve covers, they make readily available ITB'S, it definitely needs those things to make it worthwhile to remove all those fasteners to show someone what's underneath.... and honestly, those headlights kill the look as well..... I've seen their prototype, it has headlights hidden behind the grille, not these out of place things in plain sight.
That doesn't fit with the idea of the car. It's a modern version of the classic Troy Roadster and, even though it would look beautiful, independent throttle bodies aren't modern. You'd also probably have to cut holes in the hood to fit them, like the original did.
Absolutely gorgeous. Love it at 14:40 when Jay carefully and graciously... steps on it the way it is intended! As usual, love the sincerity of just 2 car guys talking cars.
Glad to see you looking so well, Jay! I'd love to see you bring one of those 7fifteen cars to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it would be so cool to see that going up the hill.
Got a good look at one of these at Road America this year. Very high quality build. Very cool car. As a Wausau guy it's cool to hear they re built in Three Lakes. 715 pride!
Wow, just nailed the look and details of this car. the LS3 was pretty potent in the c6 Corvette so I can't imaging adding another 70 horsepower and dropping the weight by 1000 lbs. the 1/4 mile times have to be spectacular and top speed probably only limited by the aerodynamics or the guts of the person behind the wheel. Funny thing is that this can go anywhere and will be reliable as anything on the road. Nice job!!
@@valcian1 thanks for the info. I was able to pause the video and read the zipper tag. It's discontinued from Harley. I see a few on ebay. Unfortunately it's proudly made in China. I'll pass.
im catching up on this channel. Loved to watch Leno late night show when i was younger. His car thingy is of another level. Very calming and interessting channel. tx Jay
This car looks like what you get if you combined the best aspects of a AC Cobra and a Lotus 7. I have never seen the original car but this 'replica' looks amazing. When I was looking at the thumbnail I was questioning if this was some Ferrari that I didn't know existed.
Love this car by 715 motor works. What a great find Jay. Thanks so much for finding it and featuring it here. I bet after folks see this their orders are going to go way up!
195k? Holy cow…I know this is hand built, and quality craftsmanship isn’t cheap…this does kinda leave it in the hands of the 1%. For sure…guess with it being intended for private race tracks, I should not be surprised…sigh…😢
Any sort of custom, high quality build is $250k or so; see Ikon, or there are people that take 1967 Mustang bodies (new) and put over modern drivetrains. Prices are all in that range.
Once again Jay, your connoisseurship of the driving experience gives us a clear window into another interesting machine. I imagine that the 7fifteen would be a real blast to throw around a few tight corners up in the canyon 'twisties'. Thanks for another great episode!
Jay is so awesome! It would be a dream to ever be able to meet the man. The car speaks for it's self. Very reasonably priced. I hope 7fifteen does well.
You might want to put in a fire detection and extinguishing system in the engine bay since it’s so hard to open the hood. Something like you’d find on an aircraft engine.
Very unique ride. First open wheel auto that's ever impressed me. To be able to come up with such a vehicle as this and bring it to such a high level is nothing short of amazing.
when I was a 14 yr old (1974), I went to the Joe Hunt race shop lots of times, there was Car that looked really close to this, I remember Asking about the #76 Joe Hunt Magneto Special . When Joe was done with it's Indy history lesson , I asked why he didn't turn it into a Street Roddster, Everyone (7 or 8 people) Laughed at me! they need a option of a 4.8LS with a 4 barrel Carb & a Rag top option!! Thanks Jay!!
Jay, this is GREAT! These guys are to be commended for doing it RIGHT. Might be nice to see a (careful) lap or two "On The Bricks", if you get my drift.... Also, I hope to see something about that RHD Saloon in the background next to the SM. Any chance of that? Cheers! Dan in Bangor
Would like to have something similar, on skinnies, with slightly modernized (read: "dependable") version of the Maserati 3L or Alfa 2300 supercharged straight 8.
@@delahayenator You may have a point ... the LS engine isn't that much heavier ... I'm probably thinking too much of it as a US version of Lotus 7 and *not* what it really is - a V8 powered Indy car !
This was an early production model that has been used for promotion. The later cars all have single Chrome headlight buckets with the turn signals incorporated inside.
