Yes only the first 150 shipped has wrong filters the rest of the stock is clean Most likely they ship orders based on country batches so most of the first 150 were sent to Europe or US
My set is fine. Apparently about 150-170 sets. They have upgrade kits going to those folks and the rest are being sent after confirmation of proper filters. They caught the issue early
Not exactly all of the first batch It's unknown how many of them in the first batch are affected, so those of us who got the first shipment are in a sense playing an IEM Gacha game XD
@@mikaisfake I got mine off Taobao directly from China and I have the tuning filter issue. Those 150-170 first units may not be limited to Europe and US. Their supplier apparently mixed in wrong filters in their initial orders, so nobody noticed. Within those 150-170 units, there will be some with correct filters like BGGAR's unit here, but mine is certainly affected.
@@inscythe well good thing the issue is easily fixable atleast although bad qc has been running in chi fi game since ages so early buy is always an expected risky move.
It's so nice to hear someone actually say "treble is to taste" because it does depend on so many things, including stuff that a lot of audio people don't seem to understand - age and hearing loss. I still have fantastic hearing in my 30's, but my step-dad was a paramedic/firefighter from the 70's to early 00's. His hearing is really starting to go, but he loves music. His treble sense in particular is going from all the sirens with inadequate hearing protection for decades. I gave him a pair of bright and sparkly grado sr80x's and watched his face light up. He absolutely adores them and takes them everywhere. So even beyond simple taste (I love the grado insanity even with really good hearing health) I think a lot of people really need to take a step back from graphs when it comes to treble in particular.
Great review, this set looks badass. Didn't expect planars to hit this price point so soon, but I guess this hobby moves fast. The cool thing is that for sure this will help expand the user base of planars and lead to more companies releasing sets at different price points with a wider variety of tuning styles. More options means listeners win. 👍

I'm doing the exact same thing Mika!!! After olina and my library and as mew as I am to iem game I just ain't buying unless hbb touches it ahahahaha I have same library as his so it's perfect for my ears amd olina still blow me away every time I use it

This will be a tough choice now. Love the tuning of the Hook-X but wouldn’t mind more planar resolution Maybe a future purchase.. Great video and you nailed the differences perfectly I think.
How the Dioko sounds against the Timeless? Talking about bass response and overall fun and energy. I'm very doubtful between these two DDD: and I never had a planar. I want something more fun and resolving than my Aria :)
I have the Hook x and the s12 as my first foray into planars. The hook x bass and mids did it all for me. My previous favorite was my Legacy 5. Until I get a tribrid, the hook x is my daily.

Direct comparison between this and olina? I'm dead set on olina for fps games and music but then the dioko came out. Definitely prefer the frequency response graphs of the olina with the shortbus mod.
Oof, bought the 7hz timeless like 4 days ago (lov it) but even though the magnetic aluminium case is very nice, im still very jelous on the case that comes with these. This solid block of aluminum doesnt feel safe to throw in my bag haha
I also really like the Hook X, more than my Timeless. But I also ordered the Dioko on release day, can´t wait to try them by myself. I´ve ordered them from linsoul and it isnt´s shipped yet, so I shouldn´t get one with missing filters.

the shell looks too flashy, but also cheap at the same time. i'd look like i bought those dollar store shiny hard stickers and stuck it on my IEM. well, it is $99, but i wish they didn't try to be cheap and fancy at the same time. if the budget is low, just make a normal shell instead trying to be high class.
Good review, I really want these, for the value alone.. They look great too, and your comparison with the other current top chifi planar IEM's, they seem like they will hold up pretty good..
I just wait for 7hertz come out with new planar IEM that can shaft into my ears deep and comfort yet produce sound like never before! A hybrid IEM with a mix of moondrop and planar technology!
Would like to see a comparison between the dioko & olina. They're different drivers but at the same price it'll be interesting to see how they compare to each other
I'm not considering to pick this one because I got the KZ CRN And didn't like the tuning so I might not likes this one too. But I have to admit that the price is really affordable considering being a planar IEM.
Since you mentioned listening with CP100s, do you also do your measurements with them? Also, thanks for the review. I grabbed the S12 a couple months ago off your rec, and they’ve been awesome for just about everything I listen to. Love how resistant planars are to getting muddy. I’ll eventually grab a more neutral set like this, as well as a more Mele-tuned set, but having the S12 has curbed my curiosity enough to let the planar wars settle down a little first. Appreciate the no BS reviews, and I’m looking forward to your crack at a planar set.
How about compared to their sibling Timeless? I was disappointed that this didn't get mentioned at all, despite comparing to others in the price bracket. Edit: I found your video on the Timeless and watched that, seems like the Dioko is great bang for the buck but the Timeless are worth the extra. Anywho, this is my first time watching your channel but I love what you're doing.
Hbb know ya don't eq stuff but I think a lot of your followers might. Myself I'm one of em altho not with the olina as I love how it is as is. But one of nice thi gs with s12 is how it responds to eq. It eq's very well. I dint have the timeless but lot of people said that didn't eq well. My question is do you know if the dioko eqs well?? Think a lot of people would be interested in knowing that. I bought these from Linsoul and as far as I know they have been shipped buy I received an email from Linsoul saying there where problems with product ie the tuning was wrong and they are now stoppiing further people from buying until the problems are resolved so it might be a few weeks until they arrive if you buy them. But those who purchased and had them posted to them will now have to wait until Linsoul send out replacement filters to help with the bad tuning which is extremely disappointing this should have been totally checked before anyone purchasing these .I have contact Linsoul about this and said I was very unhappy and would either like a Brand new set when the problems are fixed or a refund and I would return the original order but Linsoul are now telling me I have to pay the return postage to them in China but I live in the UK which I think is wrong they sent out a product which is not as described anyone had similar problems with Linsoul ? . Thanks for the informative review! You mentioned briefly that the mids here might be good for a classical library. My library is mostly classical and jazz, and reviewers rarely address those genres. I don’t have any planar sets; would you say that they would be generally good for a classical library? (I realize that the question is outside your wheelhouse, so I understand if you can’t offer an opinion.)

I'm looking into two IEMs and I am not sure which one to pick. I am stuck between the Aria Snow Edition and this 7Hz Dioko. I've seen decent reviews of the Aria snow already but do not know much about this one as it is still new and all. Two completely different IEMs I know. If anyone or if BGGA himself can offer any proper feedback in regards to this decision like pros and cons, I would gladly appreciate it.
I'm torning between those two also! When no reactions on this in the upcoming weeks, I tend to go with a planar (dioko) because it's something different at driver niveau
Which would you say is best with old/bad quality recordings? Specially rock with a lot going on. You said its good with live stuff, I imagine it also applies to worst recorded stuff?

Just received mine. He must have problem with treble because I found the mids to laid back causing the resolution and timber to be to much. Planars work best with a flatter response. Had to boost the mids then I sounded really good but you have to have moderate volume. Took a while to figure it out.
Dioko cures the main problem with the Hook X -- the lousy case. Seriously, have you tried the Azla Sedna tips with the Hook X? Everything comes into focus. Liking the spider graphics.
So if my music library consists mostly of modern electronic, dance, rap, rock and metal music, the hook x should be a better fit for me than the Dioko?
I’ve been noticing moisture in the earhook “glove” plastic on some of my iems, elixir and timeless. Just me? 😬 sweaty summer so sweat is getting in. nasty. I don’t think that cable will have that issue.
As a satisfied owner of an Olina, which is the same price as a Dioko, will the experience of the Dioko be different (and good) enough to justify getting one in your opinion?
Don't own the Hook x, but sounds like it's also a pretty good companion set for the Shuoer S12, mostly just 'cuz i laik meh sum gud clean vocals... noise~~~ Shame about the units (out of the 150+) that were sent with the wrong tuning filters. Like the case, but if it were, i don't know, about 30% smaller it would've been ideal, to me at least.
Different presentation from S12. lean midbass and dry vocal which likely fits some genre and peoples preferences. It's not redundant to S12 it is different
It may be that not every reviewer got their sample from the defective batch. I’m sure HBB Would be able to tell right away if he had one of the dud sets.
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews My planar collection has some bad guys of its own, including the semi-infamous Obarvo Cupid which is much criticized by Crinacle himself. When my defective set arrives, I plan to refuse the repair and rename it the Dokio Sadnotes.
Dioko looks to be an excellent performance:value proposition. However, the physical design...yikes...it looks like costume jewelry. Not for me. I am very happy with the S12 (for $141 on AliEx). Not to forget, all of these planars lend themselves to EQíng...all day long.
My impressions of the Dioko is condensed to: Little bit of subbass, NO midbass, NO lower mids, and very energetic in the upper ranges. It's super imbalanced. It's nice and detailed in the upper mids and trebs but it's not pleasant to listen to when it feels like the lower half of the music is missing..
I owned the 7hz for a month or so but was way too harsh of a listening experience. I believe the fit was not an issue just the harshness. Sold them shortly thereafter. As far as value goes I am waiting for a higher end planar before I jump in. The budget/ value sets do not have a lot of value if they get quickly shoved to the back of the drawer. Would prefer to wait and save the $ for the sets like the lava and the monarch 2s .
@@wengezhu1 yea basically no one reliable has reviewed that yet. Im really curious about its technical performance as other CF flagships have been very good in that regard.
I got the s12 for 119 dollars. I think that a 20 dollar difference wont break my s12 in comparison to the dioko, at least not for me. But if I was a more of a crin tuning fan and if I had bought my s12 for over 150 dollars, I would be pretty upset hahahah.
I'm not necessarily a fan of the reviewer / manufacturer collabs it doesn't dissuade me but I'm not throwing my bra on stage fan of it. I also just want a single driver planar IEM in the $500 - $700 price range. Something with TOTL technical performance at midfi prices. Going down to walmart $100 price range doesn't really ring my bell.
Think of it this way: It's a great entry to Planar that provides enough of a different to get something slightly different than your standard DD. Then if someone really enjoys planars they can look at the flagship big hitters.
